I’m not gonna lie at first I was a little scared reading the bad reviews, but I’m really glad that I went. The food was fantastic and the customer service was above and beyond. The cook went as far as coming out herself and advising me on what to try after hearing it was my first time. They were very polite and again the food was FANTASTIC! I got the tomato stew with goat and fufu.

Food was good, but service was extremely slow. I didn’t get even a glass of water. I first ordered a yam dish because I wanted to try something new, but they had ran out of it. I ended up ordering jollof rice.

Fantastic food and people in a little restaurant. But authentic, favorable and interesting food that was new to me. The ginger beverage was fabulous and the goat stew-ish (Egusi) dish I had was great!

I got the egusi soup with beef , and fufu. I had high expectations looking at the reviews, the fufu was good but the soup and beef was tasteless, expensive for the price. Also, the waiter is not welcoming at all !

I have been craving fufu and egusi since my local one had closed down, so I made the 45 minute trip. It was delicious food and the staff was super friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back

Delicious food...chicken egusi and pounded yam. Service was great nice and clean. Will go back and try the rice
While hesitant to leave negative feedback, I've provided Golden Safari numerous opportunities for improvement. Unfortunately, the service remains subpar, lacking customer attentiveness. The food portions, despite the high prices, are notably small, and the overall quality has declined. Additionally, the prolonged wait times for orders, even with an empty restaurant, are perplexing. Regrettably, after tonight's experience, I won't be returning.

Before I give this bad review I want to say I have ate here before and the food was good with no complaints. I spend $100 worth of good that was not done correct. I sat for an hour waiting on the manager for a refund. When she came she was rude and said no refunds and didn’t want to take the food. Keep note there is no sign that says no refund. The employees were very rude all starting at us. The cook came out and said she cook the food and if we don’t like it oh well that’s our preference which is rude. So I called the police. She said oh well I’m still not giving you , your money back. I never disrespected her or yelled at her because she is older than me. I want want my money back yal. And no lie this is why I don’t want to try culture food. The customer service is not the best. And I just want my money back to feed my 5 kids.

Portions are way too small for the price. With the tomato stew has more rice than stew itself. Portion should be equal or you might as well just order white rice. Grilled fish platter was good.

Although Golden Safari claims to offer an authentic West African culinary experience, the food is not as authentic as it could be. The presentation seems to be more important than the actual taste of the food. My go-to dish is the "Amala and Abula" with steamed goat meat in a peppery sauce, but the execution of this dish leaves something to be desired. The Amala, a smooth dough made from yam flour, is expertly prepared. It has a unique, slightly tangy flavor and a soft texture. While they serve it warm to supposedly enhance its 'comforting qualities,' it's worth questioning if warmth alone can compensate for a somewhat polarizing taste. The Abula soup, which is supposedly a traditional Nigerian dish made from beans(gbegiri) and jute(ewedu) leaves, feels somewhat underwhelming. While the soup is known to be creamy and rich, there seems to be an inconsistency in its flavor. The goat meat is well cooked, but the peppery sauce may be a bit too spicy for some people. However, it's worth mentioning that other dishes on the menu do seem to fare better. The Jollof rice, for instance, is a genuine hit, capturing the essence of West African flavors brilliantly. As for portion sizes, they're more than generous, perhaps compensating for the taste. The presentation is plain, making it seem as if little effort went into making the dishes visually appealing. While the service at Golden Safari might be its saving grace, with staff who appear friendly and attentive, it does little to elevate a dining experience that feels lackluster at best.It should be acknowledged that the ambiance is rather inviting, and the establishment's cleanliness is noteworthy--especially the well-maintained bathrooms, which are often overlooked in dining out. Further adding to the atmosphere, the walls are adorned with beautiful African art made by popular Bay Area artists, offering a visual feast for the eyes if not for the palate. If you're an adventurous eater looking for something supposedly new and exotic, you might find the Amala and Abula at Golden Safari interesting. But let's not pretend it's a culinary journey well worth taking for lovers of genuinely well-executed Yoruba cuisine of Amala and Abula. Yet, if you opt for other options like the Jollof rice, you might find something that lives up to the hype.
