Paya Thai had a recorded message: "we'll be open late this month. please keep calling..." door is locked. no lights on. mail in cup. no hours posted. oct. 2 review mentions they would be closing in 2-3 weeks. Yelp lists them as open 7 days...

I am a HUGE foodie, this place is really not good. The meat - beef and chicken is very suspect. Cheap ingredients. There are far better Thai restaurants around the area, Castro Valley. You'll find a better flavour and general experience there. Very disappointed

It breaks my heart that they will be closing in 2-3 weeks after being at the same location for over 30 years. Their food is excellent. But another loss in the restaurant industry due to covid times. The owner is so nice, so soft spoken. Sucks to lose a Thai restaurant when there aren't many Thai options in the area to begin with. Let's send them off properly and support them during their last few weeks! Pays Thai, I wish you blessings and much prosperity in your future.

Called and ordered take out. All the food we got was delicious. Especially loved the Pumpkin Curry (remember to ask for rice to go with it!). We came during Covid.

Ordered take out for dinner. Curry and pork with eggplant dish were tasty, thank you!

I tried Paya Thai for the first time yesterday. The green curry was phenomenal! The place didn't look aesthetically pleasing but I guess everyone gets take out anyway due to the pandemic. The employee working was nice and followed covid-19 regulations. She used hand sanitizer before and after handing me the bill to sign.I will definitely be going again! (At least for takeout) I enjoyed the meal a ton.

I have been loyal to the sweet little lady -- who works as the hostess, waitress, and cook -- since I've been living in Hayward. She is so nice and fast! I've seen other reviews about the place not looking very clean, but those are the types of places that have great authentic food. DISCLAIMER: I lived in Chiang Mai, Thailand for a little over 6 months and I can honestly say her food is as tasty and authentic as it gets! Plus, if you've been to Thailand than you know, they're not exactly known for their squeaky clean restaurants. The taste of the food is the most important, and why not support her local business? Things I recommend ordering: 1. Pad See Ew (I typically order this with extra spice & tofu) 2. Pumpkin Curry w/ Tofu (Has a great natural spice, tender veggies and pumpkin chunks) 3. Green Curry w/ Tofu4. Thai Iced Tea

I don't know what took me so long to get around to trying Paya Thai but I'm sure glad I did. Local small spot with delicious and authentic food. Tastes like a loved one prepared it for me. I'm happy to support this local small business during these tumultuous times of the pandemic. Thank you, Paya Thai!

This place is worth a try. They serve large portions for affordable rates. Consistently well kept and with good ambience. Would recommend to others.

Had a fantastic experience in here with my wife. The food comes out quick and the service is just great. Prices are reasonable.

BY far the best thai food I have ever had! The woman that owns it makes everything from scratch and is absolutely an AMAZING cook and host! We never get thai food from anywhere else!!

I went here based on all the good reviews. I was really craving Pad Kee Mao. I was sorely disappointed. The noodles were so over cooked it was mushy. They were all in like 1" pieces instead of a normal sized noodle. My pad kee mao looked like throw up. My husband got a beef dish which he also said wasn't very good. Overall, I'm just really shocked how the rating is so high based on our experience.

We love this place and its owner - sweetest lady! Been coming here for years and never disappoints. She's open for take-out during pandemic and food is as delicious as ever. Please support this local business. Prices are reasonable. Call in your order now! :-)

My husband has been going to this place for longer than me, and I've been going for 8 years now. She is a one woman show and her food is phenomenal. You may have to wait a little longer than most places for your food but it's well worth it. She is offering takeout right now due to the covid-19 shelter in place. We love the yellow curry and drunken noodle. But I've never had anything I didn't like from her! Help support this small business!
