Expensive filipino food with little portions, cant imagine 3-4 items is about $50-60. The food is similar to any filipino restaurant.

I love Filipino food. Cabalen food, I would happily recommend to many Filipinos I met BEFORE but not anymore. Most of their foods now are very, very oily. Today, we bought their menudo and binagoongan with rice . Both were SO OILY/GREASY !!! Menudo has less meat with many fillers. The taste is more of a hotdog flavor than menudo. The fish paste they used is spicy for binagoongan. Not all people eats spicy food. The rice today is soggy. My parents would scold me if I cooked rice like this. I thought the rice will save the disaster binagoongan and menudo but It cannot. We threw away all of them in the garbage. The “kakanin- 3 pichi-pichi, 1 kutchinta, 1 Biko, 1 maja Mai’s are too sweet, the grated coconut not as fresh and there is slight after taste of an old container were they probably kept for a while. It took us only few bites to decide we need to stop eating and dump all this food in the garbage. We bought extra large orders of menudo and spaghetti to be brought to a relative but we also decided to dump them, untouched! If we cannot eat them why we let our friend and relative eat them.I’m sorry Calabalen the quality of your food is not as good as before. It’s scary unhealthy for anyone. We were at the park to eat what we ordered and met a Filipino couple who got the same comment about your food.We wish Cabalen could improve the food that they are selling. Sad that we decided not to go back to any Cabalen restaurants. Today is the last day. Hope you still thrive. Thanks if you read this review.

Been looking for good Filipino food in the Pinole-Hercules area.....For so long! How can there not be many many more with such a large community in this area??? FINALLY FOUND ONE!! Buffett style service with the best looking freshly made array of guisados, chicharrones, deserts and more. It was so hard to choose only two for lunch!! Don't go very hungry or you'll get one of each!!! My problem is going to be to keep myself from going there for lunch EVERY day!! They have a second place in Vallejo. An all women chef crew as far as I could tell. Great customer service and nice happy customers!! That says a lot to me!! Thank you ladies for such delicious food. My family and I will be back frequently!!! IVM

I recently came here to pick up some lechon and pancit. I have been here on several occasions. However, the lechon was disappointing this time around. It was not crispy at all. They also charge for bags and now if you use a card, there is a surcharge, like 2.79% or something like that. I get that this is a mom and pop type place, but this is just too much. Seeing as how the lechon was subpar, I am less incline to venture here again.

I went on a Sunday afternoon. I wanted pancit. They said we only have a small left. So I got that and chicken skewer. I got it to go to eat in the car. Chicken was cold and pancit was cold with over cooked noodles. I won't be going there again.

Good food & friendly staff, but they seem to always run out of food that friends have recommended (specifically tocino, buko oandan and palabok). Over 20 years now and still the same, but if I need a quick fix for Filipino food, I'll stop by if there's no line, lucky to see these recs and/or non-seafood dishes are available.

The lady behind the counter was nice, although I've never eaten beefsteak that tasted sweet! The rice was wet bordering on congee consistency. Wondering if they ran out of lemon and used sugar to marinate their beef. Disappointing meal. Sorry.

Small shop. Food is awesome to me!! They have a cream of mushroom beef stew that made me melt!! Everything is savory and tasty! Associates are quick to service customers and the ambiance is homey! Lost eating there!
