Very flavorful and portioned well. Quick, in and out. Staff is friendly. Everything is really fresh and I especially enjoyed the spicy tuna/salmon. The cucumbers tasted kind of odd but everything else was great.

After looking for a poke place nearby from a work site I just finished working at, I came across Pokistar. Looking at the menu I was hopeful although the protein option didn't look too great.I ordered a large bowl with 5 proteins.Got white rice. I thought this would be sushi rice but it was just plain white rice which was disappointing. Got all the free bases. 2 scoops of Spicy Tuna, 1 Scoop salmon, 1 scoop Tataki, 1 scoop scallop.House Sauce and Valcano 2 sauce. Got all the free toppings without ginger and Wasabi. Drizzled with Spicy Mayo and Eel Sauce.Overall it wasn't bad but not good either. It was OK. If they had sushi rice instead, I would give them another star and if they had octopus it would be even better.

Delicious fresh cut salmon! Worth my patience, walked in as soon as I knew they opened at 11am. Medium is enough to share with someone too ??.

It makes me really sad to make this review. This has always been my Husband and I's favorite poke place. We used to live around the corner and we would eat there several times a week when our son was just born. I have a great rapport with Lucas, and he's wonderful and so, so gracious. We drive from our place in Irvine to Huntington Beach to get Poki Star when we are in the area. They had the best spicy mayo, and ponzu. Our last time there, the spicy mayo had no flavor, and we were shocked but figured it was a one-off. Now today, we went and got our food, and while the fish is fresh - the sauce has zero heat and it tastes sweet, like miracle whip. I know that there is a Sriacha shortage, but this spicy mayo completely ruined our bowls, to the point that we ended up throwing them away. After spending over $30 for two bowls, and the continuing rise in food costs, that really hurts. I hope that seeing this review will be a wake-up call, and I hope that they switch back soon.

I parked and noticed one of there workers walking away from the dumpster as he was throwing away a trash. I happened to walk in with him and he walks around the counter and starts to serve me. He didn't wash his hands!!! Please skip this poke place. They can't even wash their hands. The flavor is mids but the prices are top shelf If your in a pinch it's a good place, if you have other options take it, the rice is dry, they charge extra for seaweed salads! They have almost no toppings.

I was able to come here twice while on business. I did enjoy all the variety of toppings to the 3 or 5 protein bowl. The rice was great for the foundation.I tried the volcano 2 and spicy mayo combo and couldn't really taste the heat at all. Probably needed more flavoring. A but bland. But the bowl size and portion for 5 protein is good. 15.99. Adding an avocado baby scoop is probably worth it at 1.50 extra to give your bowl extra texture. Enjoyed the bowl. Spice up the sauces.

I had to order the large which gives you five scoops of protein and the selections are really nice but I prefer spicy tuna. I love the interior of the place. It’s really cool when you come in they’ll start you off by asking how big your order whether it needs to be small or largeI took the basic toppings of cucumber and fish eggs and then I had spicy mayo added my first layer with salad, but your choice is salad, or white or brown riceAnd I ordered Pasco guava nectar for me, it was the perfect meal !!The flavor was perfect to customizeI think you’ll love the options!!

I would LOVE to give this place 5 big stars, but to be quite honest here, the owner is such a cheap, stingy curmudgeon that I took it down one BIG star. Their food is always fresh, cleanly displayed and a great choice of ingredients, but if the owner (who NEVER smiles or is remotely cordial) makes your bowl, he will actually make every effort to remove one tiny leaf of lettuce, or one itsy-bitsy chunk of pineapple to ensure he's not giving you one morsel more than you paid for. It's quite comical and very noticeable to the customer watching. I get it, food costs are way up, but smiles don't cost a penny. They're free and the supply is endless. His employees look miserable, too. Clearly, this review is for the owner. Again, great food and one of the best poki places in HB and I highly recommend it.

We - one of my gfs and I finally tried this poki establishment for dinner to go. We have always gone to Starbucks and Bubba Sweets. This place is between the two. Stopped by after shopping at Trader Joe'sPretty self explanatory menu. Pick a bowl size, base rice/salad, half & half,, etc, I choose salad - cucumbers, seaweed salad, 3 proteins - tuna, salmon, peppered tuna ,and well sauce/sesame oil and wasabi. All was fresh.Clean, fresh food and friendly customer service. Awesome light dinner. Will definitely be back.

Poki Star in Huntington Beach is our go-to poke takeout restaurant. There are several options for fish and spicy options as well. I particularly like the different levels of heat you can add when you customize and add in the sauces. One unique offering from Poki Star is the option of choosing black rice along with white rice and brown rice as a base. I like the choices of add-ins and toppings, and the young staff that work there are always helpful and attentive. The shopping center also houses a Starbucks, Bubba Sweets, Taco Bell, and other sit-down restaurants as well!

Very bad, small portion of fish and rice was very undercooked. Please improve your food

My husband just turned me on to the "half white rice/half salad" base thing. Wow, its so great that way! I always had so much rice left over at the end and this makes the meal so much lighter. We usually order the large ($15.99), half rice/half salad base, 3 scoops of tuna, 2 scoops of salmon, seaweed salad (+$1.50), crab meat, edamame, avocado (+$1.50), masago, ginger, sesame seeds. I think I'm going to stop getting the seaweed salad since they charge the extra $1.50 and no way is that an equal value to avocado! House sauce (ponzu) with a drizzle of eel sauce at the end. Everything is very fresh. We live super close to this location so it will be added to our To Go rotation.
