The food was GREAT. Our seating was mediocre at best. They put us in an alcove where the seats hit the wall on both sides with minimal space. We did turn the table diagonal and it made the seating more comfortable, but the lighting was bad. Service...eh. It took 25 minutes to get our waitress to take our drink order, and another 15 for her to return and unscrew the top. She had 2 other tables but she came upstairs and returned downstairs 3 times without even looking our way. Before we were presented our dinner, it had been 1 hr and 10 minutes. The waitress had no self awareness and when my wife mentioned the table next to us had a party that was still eating when we arrived and the next party had been served and were nearly finished before we ordered, the waitress tried to offer an excuse. Good thing neither of us responded to her "it's not me" attitude. We will probably return for another try but will be more discriminating about seating and service.

The food at FERRO is some of the best I have had anywhere in the small parts of the world I have visited. For Easter i had the Bolognese with gluten free pasta. It was amazing and as a take out option here in our little heaven in the clouds it was perfect! They make a garlic bisque soup i dream about. Eat at FERRO when in Idyllwild!!!

So hard to give them 3 stars given all the great reviews and I was here 4 years ago and it was 5 stars, maybe today was a fluke? Had the lasagne al cinghiale and cacio e pepe 1. Lasagne was charred quite a bit, not our style but great flavor. 2. I added mushrooms and pancetta to the pasta , they forgot the mushrooms and the pancetta was thicker than most other restaurants and under cooked. Waitress was kind and removed the pancetta from the ticket so we are willing to come back and just try other options next time. Servers were very kind but just very busy. Ambiance was good. Oh lastly, the center of past was hot but the outside was cold, lasagne also got cold quickly

So happy about this restaurant in Idyllwild, a place that's always felt super disappointing when it comes to food. First of all, our server, Kati, was lovely. Excellent service including a comped dessert for my birthday as well as a card. An actual birthday card with my name on it from the restaurant. What a nice touch! I had a gin martini and the portion was 5 stars generous. They serve delicious breadsticks with to-die-for butter and olives while you're looking over the menu. I could have eaten plates and plates of all three. The quinoa + orange + fennel salad was refreshing. The cacio e pepe flavor was good and the texture perfectly al dente. I loved the pepperoni + mushroom pizza but didn't care for the chicken pesto pizza. We'll absolutely be back next time we're in Idyllwild.

Loved our friday night dinner and jazz experience, great pizza and broccolini. staff were very nice and pizza makers were hustling! Really great margarita with fresh summer flavors, I highly recommend checking it out

Only good place to eat at Idyllwild. Upstairs dining very quaint. Everything was delicious and they gave us a happy anniversary card, very touching. Don't get their hazelnut cake dessert. It wasn't that great.

Our anniversary dinner was awesome! We sat on the rear patio with our pups and even they got their own dinner! Staff was nice. Our table was a little wobbly tho so we had to be careful. I had the Mezza Porzione di Bistecca (Rib eye), hubs had the Braciola di Maiale (pork chop) and pups had the bits and ends of rib eye. We were all stuffed but happy!

By far, this is Idyllwild's best restaurant. What a pleasant surprise after so many other overpriced, mediocre meals. When you first sit down they bring this breadstick / butter / olive plate that is AMAZING. I would go back just for this. I don't know what they do to the butter exactly, but I was eating the leftover butter with a spoon. (insert sheepish grin here) Had a glass of the Terre di Lavinia Vermentino and it was fantastic. Crisp and refreshing and went perfectly with the butter I was downing. We then shared the quinoa, orange and fennel salad and it was great. Flavors were lovely. Next up was the cacio e Pepe. Quite delicious. Don't expect the best one of your life, but the pasta was perfectly al dente and the flavor good. We should have stopped there as it was enough, but we decided to share a pizza, too. Half pepperoni and mushroom and half pesto pasta. The pizza was my least favorite thing we tried, and I really, actively disliked the chicken pesto. The pepperoni side was much better and I'm not even a pepperoni fan. For dessert we had the flourless chocolate cake and it was quite good. The service was phenomenal and the front patio--covered and enclosed with plastic on three sides--was super cozy and warm on a chilly evening.

Overall, we enjoyed our anniversary dinner! We started with the grilled shrimp which was good. We then had a Caesar salad, a bit to lemony and dry for both our tastes. My husband had the boar lasagna, which was our favorite of the night! I ordered the pork chops which were mediocre, however, the polenta & broccolini that accompanied the entree were good. They were very kind in offering us a dessert for our anniversary. They also wrote a nice anniversary card which we appreciated!

Nice Italian restaurant in the heart of Idyllwild. Appreciated the vegan and gluten-free options. Delicious pizza made in front of you at their pizza bar in their beautiful outdoor seating area.

Wonderful food, service and ambience! Absolutely love Ferro! I wish it was closer to San Diego, I would go all the time!

From the I'll be honest to the food to the service this was a phenomenal dinner. This restaurant is a gem and definitely worth the trip from the Coachella valley. How did it take us so long to discover this place? an amazing value for such a delicious restaurant.

Drove up from San Diego looking forward to a nice Italian dinner. Nowhere was there a mention of a sewer break in the bar the smell of which permeated through the restaurant. We moved outside because it stunk so bad but everytime they opened the door there it was. Been coming here since they opened. This is the last time
