It saddens me that this is the last day of this pub being opened. Too expensive to keep up. Sad that it's right before the holidays and people are needing to look for work. I'm going to miss being able to come here and have the delicious Stout Du Monde and their Fourpenny Toast (House Made Spent Grain bread) with their flight of spreadable toppings.
I live in La Mesa and I have been to Fourpenny House half a dozen times. Every time I come I am never disappointed! The environment is epic! I've never been to Scotland but I was in Ireland a few months ago and I feel like I'm back whenever I step into this place. The service is great! The food and drinks are delicious and the setting is delightful! My kids love the Fish & Chips, I enjoy the cheese board with my husband and the beer and cocktails are always enjoyable. What a wonderful and serendipitous surprise to find in La Mesa. Fourpenny House is full with warmth and amazing atmosphere. What a great a festive place. To some, it would see small but this place is large in experience and ambiance.
