I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Mystic Grill in La Mesa, and it was an extraordinary culinary experience. This hidden gem offers some of the most delightful Mediterranean cuisine in San Diego. The standout dish for me was undoubtedly their hummus. Creamy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned, it's no exaggeration to say that Mystic Grill serves up the best hummus in San Diego. Paired with warm, freshly baked pita bread, it was a match made in food heaven. The menu here is a treasure trove of Mediterranean delights. From the succulent kebabs to the aromatic shawarma, every dish was a burst of authentic flavor. The quality of ingredients and the skilled preparation really shine through in every bite. What's even more impressive is the pricing. Despite the exceptional quality of the food, the prices at Mystic Grill are incredibly reasonable, making it an ideal spot for both casual lunches and special dinners. The ambiance of the restaurant is cozy and inviting, making it a perfect place for a date night or a gathering with friends. The staff was attentive and friendly, adding to the overall positive dining experience. In a city known for its diverse food scene, the Mystic Grill stands out as a hidden gem offering amazing Mediterranean cuisine, particularly their legendary hummus. If you're looking for a taste of the Mediterranean that won't break the bank, this place should be at the top of your list. Don't miss the opportunity to savor their delectable dishes – you won't be disappointed!

This place used to be good, but they've gone way down hill. Tonight I waited 45 minutes for two dinners I ordered over the phone, which I was told would be ready in 15 minutes. No apologies for the delay, and they forgot to include pita bread with the dinners. They also don't accept online orders without calling the restaurant to confirm you actually placed your order online. SMH.

I drove over there to get a pizza. And they don't even have sausage. Who the hell makes pizza and doesn't have sausage.

Food was decent except the hard store bought pita bread ruined it for me. Hopefully they will change that!

It is early on a Saturday morning and I'm writing a Yelp review for this place as I'm getting the leftovers out for breakfast because it was that delicious for dinner. Ordered takeout. The online ordering/payment/confirmation/text system is incredibly annoying and in this day and age there is no excuse for it. Was a bit concerned to receive a text after ordering that said, "Hi, Your Order was submitted. If you do not receive a text message confirmation that it was received by the restaurant in 5 minutes, please call the restaurant at 619..." Thankfully, we were deemed worthy and we received a confirmation text saying the wait time for our order was 45 minutes. Well, it was worth the weird ordering process and wait. I knew the meal was going to be incredible because it smelled insanely delicious in the car on the way home. We ordered a chicken shawarma wrap, fries, gyros plate, meat pies, falafel side, and box of baklava. The gyros were tender, but not greasy and came with a huge serving of long grain saffron rice, dry (not fluffy) pita, creamy hummus heavy on the tahini, and a crisp salad with cucumber and tomato slices. The slightly creamy dressing on the salad is fantastic. They need to bottle and sell it. Falafel was hot and crisp. Husband loved his meat pies, fries, and wrap. Fries were packed with foil and care so that they were still hot and crisp when we got home with the food. They provided a lot of the creamy pink slightly spicy sauce which we used on everything after we tasted it. Not sure what that sauce is, but OH MY GOODNESS! The baklava was flaky and packed with pistachios and wasn't too wet. Food was a 5, docked a star for the ordering process. We have driven by this place a zillion times and shouldn't have waited to try it.

I have been driving by this place for years. It was a convergence of severe hunger and convenience along my route that made me stop. I was not disappointed. Well, it was a bit of a wait because the place was very busy, but that is a testament to how good the food was/is.There was a bunch of young people hanging out socializing. It struck me as though the place was their regular spot, and it was refreshing to see well-behaved young people together. While I was there, two separate catering sized orders were readied and delivered. Which might have added to my wait time, but again, another point for evidence that the food is way above average. My orders, which were 3 separate entrees, one a sea food grilled salad. The salad was split between myself and my husband, and we were pretty full. My kids had their meals in two sittings. Dishes were well seasoned tasty and piping hot we I received them. ?Great place to eat, but don't go when I am going back as I want to get my food sooner next time. ?

I've eaten here at least 50 times. Never been disappointed. It's very consistent, the staff are friendly, the portions are good sized, price isn't that bad, and it's really delicious!! I have tried probably half the menu and I always recommend it to others!

Service 1/5Food 3/5Phoned in an order was told by a not so friend woman that it would take 10-15 minutes.Arrived around the 15 min mark, checked in paid and was told couple more minutes. After 5 min the not so friendly worker advised that the chicken plate I ordered is all out and if I would like something else? Seriously? It took them now total of 20 min to tell me one of the plates I ordered is all out? So obviously still hungry and annoyed decided on a different chicken combo. Another 20 minutes go by and I finally received my order! While waiting I observed that the young lady working that night was only friendly to certain people while others she was not what I would call "customer service friendly".When she Finally gave me my order, there was no apology, not even a Thank you. I love to support local business but when me as the customer feels like I'm the one inconvincing the staff I'd rather spend my money where it's appreciated.

A Delightful Culinary Adventure at Mystic GrillMy recent visit to Mystic Grill left me thoroughly impressed with their culinary offerings, particularly their gyro plate and salmon dishes. While I found the overall experience to be above average, these two menu items truly stood out and showcased the restaurant's dedication to quality flavors and enticing presentations.Let's start with the gyro plate--a true Mediterranean delight! The gyro meat was beautifully seasoned, tender, and succulent. Each bite was packed with a harmonious blend of spices and flavors that transported me to the vibrant streets of Greece. The pita bread was fresh and warm, providing the perfect vessel to enjoy the gyro meat along with the accompanying house sauce and crisp vegetables. The combination of flavors was satisfying, and the generous portion size of rice left me feeling satisfied.Moving on to the salmon dish, Mystic Grill proved their expertise in preparing seafood. The salmon fillet was cooked to perfection--moist, flaky, and infused with a delicate smoky flavor. The accompanying lemon butter sauce added a zesty tang that complemented the richness of the fish beautifully. The dish was elegantly presented with a side salad, and humus with peta beard. The freshness and quality of the ingredients were evident, and I appreciated the attention to detail in each element of the dish. The service at Mystic Grill was attentive and friendly. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu and readily provided recommendations based on personal preferences.Overall, Mystic Grill deserves recognition for their gyro plate and salmon dishes, which left a lasting impression. If you're in the mood for Mediterranean flavors or crave a well-prepared salmon dish, Mystic Grill is certainly worth a visit. While some menu items may not reach the same level of excellence, the overall dining experience and the standout dishes make it a worthwhile destination for a delightful culinary adventure.

Food is delicious. Prices have gone up a bit over the years but I enjoy eating here. Kids love it and the older people love it.Vegetarian options: Plenty to choose from but get the veggie sampler. Best value. If you order everything separately it adds up fast.Kid-friendliness: My son loves the food and there is space. I’ve taken other kids as well and never had a complaint. Pizza for picky eaters.Dietary restrictions: They are accommodating which is nice.
