Amazing Black-owned restaurant in LA! Everything was delicious, but the oxtail is especially heavenly. Melt in your mouth, fall off the bone, to die for!

Great food, great people but we waited 2 hours before we got our order. The atmosphere was so awesome we almost forgot we were waiting. The banana pudding was a great choice!

The staff is very friendly, but the portions are small and overpriced ! The entrees do not come with any sides! This is quite unusual for a soul food restaurant! I recommend crossing the street and having a tasty meal at Vicky’s or Miz LaLa for a fraction of the price!!!!!One more thing! We were celebrating my friend’s birthday and didn’t even get the normal free dessert! Alta will never see me again!

This place is sooo cute, well decorated, and has great music. The service was wonderful too! But the food left a lotttt to be desired. Everything was slightly over cooked and under seasoned. It’s a real shame because it’s a great space in the neighborhood. I would definitely recommend stopping by for drinks but getting a meal elsewhere.

Fantastic experience! Such friendly and attentive staff from host to servers to chefs. Sat at the chef’s counter and had the best time watching and interacting with the chefs. The food was absolutely delicious as were the cocktails. My only regrets were that I got the most popular items on the menu (fried chicken/collards - despite being delicious) and didn’t venture into some of their more unique dishes, like the wood grilled fish (chosen daily) with yassa sauce or the sweet potato dumplings, and that I didn’t have a chance to try the wine bar first because they had a private party. I had a bite of the off menu bread pudding which was ridiculous and also found their sauces a must try (esp the homemade apple bbq and spicy herb sauce). I couldn’t recommend Alta Adams more and can’t wait to come backDietary restrictions: Looked like great vegan gumbo

Honestly, I was very excited about this place and was somewhat disappointed by the execution of food, service and overall experience.I went with a larger group and due to the volume of people in the restaurant it was clear there was an inability to manage that level. The food was OK and could have been better. The wine was also ok and I was not allowed to taste wines before I made my final selections

This is one of my favorite local spots. Food and drinks are great. Bartenders are amazing. Servers are very kind and work hard to provide a great experience. But, damn the hostesses always find a way to taint the experience with poor management of the books. Don't bother coming in here without a reservation. The hostess don't follow the 15 minute grace period for reservations and will let tables remain empty for hours. Anyone who works in hospitality would know that's a bad move because you could be making money at those empty tables. Anywho I hope management fixes this soon.

Great ambiance. The food was good, however laughably small portions.

I'm updating my review of this establishment. The first time I went over a year ago, the lunch was mediocre, nothing to write home about, and I was disappointed. But I went back for an event and the menu has won me over big time. Apparently a new sous chef was brought in and has really elevated the execution of the menu and added some fun variety like jerk-spiced plantain tacos. I also wanted to shout out the brisket, the non mayonnaise slaw which I greatly appreciate, and the vegan gumbo which was genuinely tasty.Another gem worthy of the great restaurants on this street ??
