I come here at least once a week, the tacos are always on point and never anything different. The truck arrives after 6 pm, and if you follow their instagram page, they have updates all the time on if they are not going to be there. Sometimes I’ve waited a few minutes to get some food to me as well but it’s not a big deal. I know they are putting the food together and it ain’t slopped together like fast food. If you can’t wait 15 minutes to get some authentic real Mexican food, Taco Bell’s next door, I’m sure they would be glad to serve you their tacos in under 15 minutes for you. I think they play music in there too. I’ll wait in line to get real tacos just like the last day when they were at the stand where they were gentrified out of, I bet all those reviews are from that other taco place worried about the competition. I’ll never go to that taco stand that took over the La Estrella stand ever. Thank your for all the bomb food and the good service you guys always provide. Me and my lady will be there tonight after I’m done cutting hair. We love you guys and glad you are back.

I’m confused I thought this place had closed down did they open up a new location?

So excited this place came back I was bummed it closed. Drove 30 miles when I realized it converted to a truck and it was worth the drive. The lady automatically recognized us since we were frequent costumers. The service was amazing and we were treated with smiles. It's In a small location but it still felt very welcoming.10/10 recommend it had good flavor the meat was seasoned very good the red salsa and green salsa combined with the meal was delicious will defiantly get it again. Not pictured: we had 2 tacos de asada and a taco de al pastor with red salsa and they were delicious as well.

⭐⭐⭐We had asada, lengua and fish tacos . The food had some flavor in it, portions were ok but ⭐the wait time was about 15 minutes and we were the only ones, regardless of the reason why it took that long it was too much especially because this is a lunch truck and there are no tables where we could've sat.⭐⭐⭐ Atmosphere was lacking some how it was awkward just waiting, may be play music or have a TV???As usual I will go back 2 more times and see how it goes.

truck hours are sun- mon 6pm-11pm & fri-sat 6pm-2 or 3am. they are the best very sad the location across the street closed but grateful they made a taco truck. the food is amazing for vegetarians the veg burrito with no rice is amazing. also the fries & red salsa. the vibe of the truck gives me hope for the future.

we came here after watching david binney at the lodge room and damn they did not disappoint. we got: a cabeza sope ($4.34): the cabeza was well seasoned and tender and the shell was crispy and all the toppings fresb a lengua taco ($2.74): super tender meat but not mushy, good lengua an asada torta ($9.59): it was so flavorful and the bread was delicious. it was everything i needed be sure to ask for red green sauce! they're both good and not too spicy

A food place has always been on thus corner by the HP pool since I was in grammar school (late 50's).Just heard on the news (1/14/2023) it will be permanently closed. The owner is looking for another place to re-open.

It's not about the look but taste, quality, and culture. This place certainly has all these qualities scattered across a styrofoam plate. A gem sitting under the sun face to face from Taco Bell on Figueroa and Ave 61; lies an eatery of delectable Mexican street-style foods. A friend and I, hangry, low on funds, and on foot, thought Taco Bell would be favorable. However, approaching Taco Bell, we noticed a brightly painted building. Making our way across the street to look over the menu, we decided to eat here because it had our culture, family recipes, and ingredients written all over it. We ordered the Asada fries (I'm not a fan of Asada) and a few nonalcoholic drinks. I dug my fork into the fries smothered in nacho cheese, onions, tomatoes, and Asada. I took my first bite. WHAT THE F**K!! The Asada was palatable, perfectly seasoned, and coated with intrinsic goodness! Each bit became more and more flavorful. La Estrella ensures delicious flavor, quality, and affordable prices. La Estrella reintroduced me to Asada fries. If you're in Highland Park, give this place a try hope you enjoy the food as much as I did.

There pastor tacos are tasty!!!! Three tacos is my max, but if you get the plate it includes rice and beans with chips. There are three tables on the side that have you looking at Taco Bell thinking about the folks passing up authentic Latin tacos. They are a to go spot for Tacos. I believe they are about $2-3 a taco now. 3 Tacos is around $6. The 3 Taco plate is around $8. Cash Only

It was ok red wet burrito. Clean and delicious. Staff were amazing and clean I love it. Store itself needs remodeling If you asked my opinion. It's one of the better places in the area but very ordinary.
