Can't beat this old school Deli food. Large portions and 'no fusion nuthin' traditional urban Jewish deli food!? ?

Heard it gets busy but it was not too busy for Monday lunch rush. Ordered a number 1 and could not finish it despite being super yummy. Mom and Pop dinner feel and the service was excellent and attentive. This is definitely a special treat sandwich when you're dying for some meat. Will definitely go back.Dietary restrictions: Had lots of dairy-free options which was a bonus.

The Best Pastrami sandwiches on the West coast!!! I love good food, good service, and a clean restaurant. It has it all. However, the location may make you change your mind, but you shouldn't. Langer's is a landmark, and in my opinion, much better than one of los angeles' other over-rated landmark eatery ( I will not disclose). I love the friendly staff too. The menu has other delectable dishes it is a deli after all. I sometimes order breakfast or a pattymelt ( it's so cheesy ). If you do go, say hi to Frank, Sue, Kevin, or Lupe. All of the servers here are great! I don't know everyone, name...my bad. I only review restaurants, coffee shops, and retailers if they are the absolute best. And Langer's is in my top ten.

What can one say that hasn't been said. The #19 is hands down the best Pastrami Sandwich. One might think there is too much going on, but you'd be wrong. Try it and enjoy the symphony of flavors that your palate will enjoy. I was skeptical myself and proven very wrong. My only response to my wife was: I think I could cry right now. There are many other items to choose from and various forms of the Pastrami Sandwich, so have at it.A side note, I thought maybe it was too good to be true, so we came back a few days later. This time no tears just taste buds of pure enjoyment. I will now make every excuse to head down for this fluffy soft Rye bread sandwich & bring friends to share in the experience. Thank you for 76 years of hard work and continued service. I'm very sad I did not know about this place sooner.Parking: If your eating at Langers you get 90 min of free parking. It's a block away but your best choice with a very hard-working attendant watching your vehicle while your stuffing ones face with a #19

Langer's has been a favorite of mine since my early teens. I religiously order " beef brisket on a Kaiser roll with extra mustard" every single time. The brisket is cooked to perfection and the Kaiser roll is ALWAYS fresh. Service is impeccable!!! I prefer to place an order for curbside pick up and every single time they have NEVER made an error with my order.

My first Langer's experience is probably like many others' first Langer's experience. Walking or driving alongside Central American sidewalk vendors, trying but sometimes failing to avoid the merchant selling blue corn quesadillas. Maybe encountering the meshuganahs of MacArthur Park. Drug addiction, mental illness, hawkers of shoes and jackets, melons and cactus, then you walk into a time machine - and Blam-O - you're transported to post-war Los Angeles. Before you ever crack open a menu, the Mid-Century typeface of the sign and ceiling fans are enough to transport you 70 years into the past. Langer's is like a Yiddisher Disneyland. The accolades hang from the wall: Michelin Bib Gourmand and James Beard Award. It is though it doesn't exist in today's America, it is something like a state of mind. And it's also a living breathing history museum of the once Jewish neighborhood of Westlake. G-d bless them. It is overpriced, as delicatessen's tend to be, but we need them. We need Langer's. I recently read a figure stating that New York City alone once featured 1,500 kosher delis. Now there are only 150 in all of North America. The Jewish Deli is on the endangered species list. I love this genre of restaurant. I love kreplach, gefilte fish, and lox. I find knish and egg creams to be fascinating. Yet, I had not brought myself to Langer's for any of those reasons, compelling as they may be. Today, I'm here for the #19. That is hot pastrami, Swiss, slaw and Russian dressing on rye. There's nothing new I can possibly say about this sandwich. The thick slices of pastrami are tender and fatty, yet cut thick enough to give it a satisfying bite. The rye bread is the unsung hero. Sturdy, while at the same time, pillowy soft. With a thick crisp crust. The Swiss cheese is superfluous. The slaw and Russian dressing add sweetness to balance out the sandwich, but I think they might actually detract from the binary perfection of meat and bread.

Classic establishment right near Downtown LA. A diner trapped time and in the best way. Great menu with so many options other than the #19 which they consistently push - but for good reason. It's a fantastic sandwich and I fully agree. Not one to miss. They cut it in half so something to even share if you're with someone.
