I went earlier today and was about to walk in when the lady at the door abruptly stopped me with her palm and told me no. I then stood back and waited in like patiently when an older white lady just walked in front of me and went in and the lady at the door said nothing. When I was finally let in, I asked an employee ( All of which were white ) where I could find a can opener and she said very abruptly “in the front” and walked away. A few seconds later another client, which was white, asks her for something and she guides her to the item. I was not able to find the can opener so I approached two people who were by the cashiers, both of which I thought were employees and one responded very rudely, “I don’t work here.” The cashier heard me but chose to ignore me until I asked her directly to which she said also rudely, “We ran out.” Terrible experience. Felt like I was being treated differently just based on how I looked compared to their average customer.

Update your hours if you’re not open at the times you say you are

Should have ordered what I needed on Amazon, cheaper and wouldn't have had to deal with such poor service. I went earlier today to the kitchen supply store to buy a kitchen accessories, but was awkwardly followed by a staff member throughout the store. Felt like a criminal. Amazon Prime it is next time!

I've walked past Sur La Table and seen people doing cooking classes inside ever since it opened in 2016. After trying it out for the first time, I will not be doing that again. In a simple summary: A lot went wrong, and it's a huge cost at $75-$85 per person for a sloppy operation. Our class was about 10 people and our cooking group was two of us plus another customer. That's the first big issue. Everybody has different skills and our partner was clearly not comfortable with various techniques. The instructor could have begun by asking everybody's comfort levels and expectations (are you there to enjoy good food or do you want to learn new techniques and get comfortable in the kitchen?). That basic knowledge would allow them to pair groups accordingly and teach the class effectively. Instead it was random. Then the cooking itself. Most was very, very basic: mix this or stir that. Tasks were hard to share between all three of us, so we switched off as best we could. The workers never helped delineate tasks for us and the slow moments of not doing anything were quite boring. There were a few good learning opportunities for us. We practiced some pasta-making skills and enjoyed having all the ingredients right there. Mixed review for the food itself: overall most of it tasted good but our instructor burnt the bread appetizer he was managing. At the end, we began running out of time so we just stood there eating as fast as possible while getting shepherded out. When we got home and looked at the recipe sheet we were given, it turned out they had given us a set from another class. What a mess. They seemed understaffed, but that's no excuse after paying hundreds of dollars. As fun as a class sounds, spend your money elsewhere. The store? Fine. Grab some gifts.

This was the gift I got my boyfriend and I for Valentine's Day. It was hands down the worst experience I've ever had. We did "date night" with Chef DJ O. First off the reason I picked this was because in the description it clearly stated we would be "sipping" wine while cooking, when we got there we found out they do not have a liquor license and we were not allowed to try the wines. Our station was shared with another couple who was also very disappointed, we were supposed to cook with this couple but then found out we didn't have a cooking station and the chef was using our ingredients for demonstration. Meal one: we made a cake, after putting some ingredients that were pre mixed and not told to us into a mixing bowl we poured the mixture into a the baking pan. The chef then realized he forgot to tell us to add over half the ingredients, then quickly went to each station and mixed the extra ingredients into the pans. The cake was terrible. Meal two: A risotto, when I asked what kind of wine we were cooking this with he answered with "white"... wow, thank you but I can see that, I'd like to know what specific kind of wine. Meal thee: Green beans. We were not told to add the seasoning so we just decided to add stuff on our own and then we asked about the provided lemon juice that was not used at the end the chief said "oh ya" and just tossed it on himself. Meal four: scollops. I put a scollop in my pan and the chief rudely told me I did it wrong then took my prongs flipped the scollop and broke it. This was a terrible experience, the food was not good, the teaching was even worse. I would have no idea how to make any of this again. We didn't taste things as we went and we didn't get a chance to ask any questions. It was a waste of my money and time, truly upsetting.

Best customer service evidence I've ever received any where.... and I mean any where. The minute I walked in the store I was greeted by an employee. I told her I was having an issue with the Wok I bought and she immediately referred to John who took me to the back kitchen and not only did he show me step by step how to properly address my issue with the wok but he re-seasoned it for me. While I was speaking with John, the original store clerk checked in on me and said that if they weren't able to fix my wok they would give me a new one. "We just want you to be happy" she said as she went back into the store.

Not a couple friendly class. Groups are 3 and more per table. Classes est. 2-2.5 hours. Small work stations.

I've been here for cooking classes in the past and loved it! I learned how to make macarons and this was the most useful class! Never again do I have to pay $3 for a macaron! I did also use their knife-sharpening services and it was great. Knives cut very well, like buttah!

Fairly disappointed with the date night cooking class at this shop. My girlfriend and I were very excited to learn some cooking basics and saw that Sur La Table has some classes to try that weren't extremely expensive. Sadly it wasn't a great experience due to a lot of issues.

We did a private cooking class and made two different types of pasta. The class is two hours long but we started a bit late and it ran a bit over, which they do charge for. We didn't have time to make the salad but the chef and sous chef made it for us. We brought our own wine and they provided water and crackers and delicious cheese. To have a private class, you need a minimum of 10 people. We made two types of pasta which was fun and actually pretty easy to make. Our chef was Michelle Holland and she really was playful, nice and taught us alot of new techniques. I enjoyed her sense of humor and how she kept us on moving along and not distracted. At the end, we didn't have enough time to make the salad so they finished it up and cleaned while we did shopping and they offered a discount on any item. We then were able to eat, which was delicious and fun! If you're a fan of cooking, I'd recommend this class for you! It was a great new experience and am interested to put my skills to use.

Wouldn't recommend the cooking class. It was highly disorganized and one of the dishes we were supposed to make wasn't even served. We signed up as a group of three and were separated which ruined the point of doing a class together as a family. You make the dishes in groups with strangers and some of the dishes we didn't even get to cook because of how overcrowded the class was. For the price of the class you should be able to work individually, four people can't stir one spoon.

This is one of my favorite places for breakfast in Westwood. The food is organic and healthy. The coffee and food is delicious. It's not a quiet place. Families and large parties come in. Somehow those on laptops doesn't bother them. Service is always friendly. Staff is attentive. Our favorite waiter was Justin. He was very nice. Tried to get our food fast. Thank you for the croissant.

Knocked off a star solely because this location is not BYOB. Call me an alcoholic all you want but hear me out. Me and my boyfriend did one of their date night steak dinners and this would've paired very well with a glass of wine! Also there will be times you're just standing around watching people do stuff and that would've been more enjoyable with wine. As you can see this review isn't all about the food since we did technically prepare it ourselves. If you didn't salt your food enough, that's on you haha. So this review is more about the vibe they offered us. My recommendations: Go in groups of 4 so you're not cooking with strangers that may want their food prepared differently. Go to locations that are BYOB Stay nearby the chef or you'll miss everything

Such a cool store. I only recently got into cooking and so I would say I'm a newbie. One thing I recently tried was the turkey brine and rub at Sur La Table. I had a big family gathering and thought I would give this a try. I don't normally love turkey (as in Thanksgiving) but wanted to try out one of these oil free fryers. Well I did, and used the brine and rub to prep the turkey. Wow, what a surprise. It was great! The prices are a bit high at this store but during one of their sales, I went back and bought a bunch of these brine and rub kits. You gotta give it a try. It's great!
