I ordered ramen and it was soapy. Every other time i’ve been here, the ramen was great, full of flavor. But this time it tasted like dirty water. The chicken was pink as well. They don’t wear gloves when serving food, and their fingers were in my food..it was also served lukewarm.

I loved the food here. I cooked most of it myself, lol. They also have the option to not do your own cooking, but it is definitely a fun experience. The sushi rolls here are delicious. In particular, the Gorilla Roll, which is my all-time favorite. Great service and friendly staff. I definitely recommend this place.

If you're considering coming here for Korean BBQ, do yourself (and your wallet) a huge favor and go somewhere else. The first issue I had was with the pricing structure on their menu. The place isn't all you can't eat which isn't a big deal, but it's priced as a party of four and makes it appear it's AYCE. Got more than a party of four but have an oddball party like 5? You're going to need to do individual item add-ons which may or may not add up to the same as their rate per person (in some cases even more depending on situation), making the already confusing menu even more confusing as they also have a minimum party requirement for KBBQ.If you thought the menu was bad, the food is even worse. The meat quality was unexceptionally low to the point I almost demanded a refund and wanted walk out especially at the price point they're charging for. Shrimp? Almost none of them were deveined which is disgusting. Brisket? Doesn't exist on the menu. Pork belly? What pork belly? It was just fat, no meat, almost like they deliberately trimmed the meaty portions out and just left the fat. Kalbi Short ribs? They look like they just took it out the freezer at a moments notice, defrosted it as fast as they could, and quickly covered it with generic soy sauce and called it a day. It was so bad our group didn't even finish it and just decided to take the loss. Side dishes? Nah, we don't do that here. But oh wait, there's more. Finished with your first tiny bowl of rice and need seconds? That will me 3 dollars per bowl for the tiniest bowl of rice known to mankind. They also only give you two sauce dishes with the tiniest amount of sauce known to mankind and charges you, you guessed it 3 DOLLARS PER SAUCE DISH FOR THE TINIEST AMOUNT OF SAUCE HUMANELY POSSIBLE! They also don't have the basic sauces you find at every typical kbbq. Sesame oil + salt? Nope. Ssamjang? What is that? The servers are nice and respond quickly, but that's about it. In terms of the kbbq, the kitchen staff has no basic fundamental understanding of how kbbq works and the basic items every kbbq serves. The absurd price they charge is just insult on top of insult.

My girlfriend and I love coming to this place! We’ve really become regulars at Hoki because everyone is always so attentive and friendly, they honestly make us feel like part of the family! It’s sad to see that on Valentine’s Day there was a customer yelling at the manager and making a scene because she wanted to be sat right away—when dinner time for most places on Valentines is reservation only. The manager is such a sweet lady, I can’t imagine anyone being mean to her let alone yelling at her like some of these customers did. 10/10, will be coming back!!

The owner needs to take anger management therapy!! She is so rude to her customers. We got yelled on Valentine’s Day for not making a reservation. Her business will go bankrupt soon if she continues treating her customers that way. Lady you depend on your customers for your business to be successful. You should think twice before speaking rude to customers. We didn’t stay for dinner. Also, many others left too after seeing how she was treating her customers. A Very bad experience!

As local residents of Modesto, we visit Hoki twice a month. If you are planning to have a large party attend, it is best to make a reservation ahead of time. For best taste of the Korean BBQ selections, make sure to not let the grill burn or the food will taste burnt. Personally, I always choose Dinner #2. All dinner selections are enough food to feed 4-5 people depending on each individuals appetite. Almost all of the appetizers on the menu can be fulfilling, so order something small if you decide to have the main Korean BBQ dinner meal after the appetizer. Overall, servers are great, polite, and consistent. The owner is energetic, kind, and respectful. A great place to eat when visiting Modesto! Cheers!

We were visiting my father in the hospital nearby. Felt like Asian food, this place popped up.Extremely friendly service, smiling faces, extremely clean restaurant. We had the awesome pork ramen dish which was huuuuuuuuuuge, awesome short ribs. Even my mom said she'd come back and she doesn't like anywhere, because she's a great cook, judges everything etc.Definitely coming back. Cheers!!! Thank you.

Came here with a group of 6 and we got the dinner A package. The service was so terrible, I will never return. Their sides were enough for 1-2 people and they would only refill them once. When we asked for a refill of the radishes, they said they were out. When we asked for refills of our drinks, they brought them but then stopped checking in on our table even though the restaurant was nearly empty. It became clear that they did not want us to ask for more food or refills that we were paying for. I do not recommend this place I will not be returning. The only reason I’m giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is because the meat was good. But everything else was terrible.

This will be my 1st and last time going there. If you had actual Korean or Japanese food before then you might not like it. I rather drive to Sacramento or Bay Area for better food and a lot better service. We have to kept asking for things and kept being ignore. This is by far the worst experience ever. Normally I don’t mind spend $100s and tips on food but this isn’t worth it. Not going back there again!

I usually order sushi to-go from here and never been disappointed.I dined in for the Korean BBQ and it was different from what I'm used to. The meats are not marinated but there are sauces on the side for the meats. My brother loved it this way since he can control how much sauce will be on his meat but I prefer the meat already marinaded.Either way- the service, restaurant decor, and meal was great! We will be back!

The server only came up to us once and that was because I grabbed some Sriracha from the bar area and then he charged us for it and it was just the same sauce with our sides. the whole place was empty and they still took 15 minutes to take our order we didn't get waters until after our alcoholic drinks we had to wait for it again Bad service never coming back. Had to keep asking another server for our napkins and our extras needs horrible Korean barbecue place two thumbs down. Don't recommend
