Classic Chinese-American dishes made perfectly! Everything was incredibly tasty! We ordered some take out for lunch and had a great experience. Called about ten minutes ahead and the food was ready just in time. 1) General Tso's chicken - crispy with a well balanced sweet, spicy, tangy sauce. The batter was light and the chicken remained crispy even after a car ride home. 2) broccoli beef - tender beef and super fresh broccoli. The addition of mushrooms and bamboo made it more interesting and the sauce was perfect. 3) vegetable chow mien - I love how this place takes vegetables seriously. Every vegetable was great and crisp AND there was a variety: bok choy, bean sprouts, zucchini, cabbage, carrots, onions, snow peas, mushrooms. The amount of veggies was astounding I'm gonna go ahead and call this one healthy-- seriously. The noodles were tender but not mushy and there was a nice coating of sauce. Honestly best chow mien I've had in a while! 4) hot and sour soup - great balance of spicy and sour with just the right ratio of soup to tofu/mushroom/bamboo. It's not spicy spicy but the peppery heat definitely builds over the course of a bowl. Ugh I loved it. When you're craving Americanized Chinese food this place will not disappoint! The food is well made and the flavors are on point. I could eat any of the items above endlessly. Oh and if you're into hot sauce ask for some on the side it's delicious!

Our very favorite Chinese restaurant. We have been eating this family's food for over twenty years now and just love it. Previously we went to their restaurant in Chinatown in SF and then to one that was in Los Altos. So happy when they opened this one in Mountain View! The food is beyond compare, as always and the staff could not be nicer or more accommodating to your needs. If you desire the very best in Chinese food try Hunan Homes Express. You will not be disappointed! P.S. They are closed down now through mid November for some renovation work so call before going to make sure they are open.

I never knew how much I would miss the food until they closed for renovations. They have my favorite fried rice in Bay Area. All the other food I've tried has been also amazing. The owners are super friendly. It's definitely in my top five of restaurants out here.

Terrible home web page ... but they list delayed a month from 08.19.19 We are still CLOSED due to renovations for mandatory building updates. Our progress has been delayed again. We are still waiting for a walk through with the city of Mountain View for the second construction phase to be approved. The contractors are currently waiting for a permit to proceed with walk through to approve of the structural repair. If our building repairs for our ceiling and wall do not require engineering, they are estimating another 1-2 months to re-open. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Please check back with us by phone or online for updates and re-opening date. Sorry we do not have definitive answers but only estimated . Phone lines are not answered

I had the beef soup here. Not bad, not good enough though. Exactly what would you expect from a place like this. The price is rather on an expensive side (14$). Even though the plate was very big, I could handle only half of it. But what's the use of it if your are not planning to take the other half to go?!

We got takeout and when they were taking my order in person, they were super patient, didn't feel rushed. There are quite a number of Chinese takeout places in this area yet this one had the best ingredients, large portions and friendly service. A little on the pricier side but I'll pay that for friendly service and food that is good.
I grew up in San Francisco, so it goes without saying I've eaten a lot of Chinese food, really good authentic food. I tend to prefer Hunan style because I like spicy. Tonight I ordered pot stickers, hot and sour soup, and eggplant in garlic sauce. The hot and sour soup was delicious. I make my own at home, so it's difficult to find one that meets my preferences. This had just the right ratios and chock full of tofu and veggies. The eggplant was so tender and the garlic sauce is fantastic. And you know how I love eggplant. If I had to choose a favorite (forced under duress), I would say the pot stickers! Pot stickers are like hamburgers. They all use the same basic ingredients, but the quality and technique is as unique as humans are. These are large and well filled. The filling is a succulent mix of meat and veggies, which I love. The dough seems to be hand made and perfectly cooked. There is no way these came from a freezer. Thanks to other helpers advice, I also ordered a side of very spice HH sauce, which was a perfect addition. It adds heat and flavor without overpowering the dish. Well done, HH, I will be back!

Our go-to Chinese place in downtown MV closed for business, but we did not fret, for Hunan Home's Express came to the rescue! My kids love their combo chow mein, and those are some picky eaters. My husband and I have liked everything we have ever ordered from here. The service is consistently friendly and fast (otherwise the name wouldn't make sense, right?), and I love knowing we are supporting a family owned business. It's a win-win for all.

I cater lunch for my group everyday so we get to try a lot of food, but Chinese is one of our weekly staples. Andy was a pleasure to work with and the process of ordering for 15ppl was smooth. He was VERY helpful the food was absolutely delicious and made us all warm and fuzzy inside. I absolutely recommend them!!!!

Moved from the old location on El Camino Real to here. Still have a lot of fan from the old time. The food moves from upscale dinning toward Panda Express. No frill decor. Good for take out cuz the dining room is rather small.
