Im a big foodie and I’ve tried A LOT of Ethiopian restaurants and this is my go to spot for Ethiopian food in the bay. The back patio is really peaceful. The food is great. Big portions. Delightful flavors. Veggie combo is really good if you want to get a nice verity. Thank you!

Amazing vegetarian options, the mushroom tibs are heavenly. And very generous sized portions. Great atmosphere in the back patio!
Really lovely experience, with great flavors, stylish and atmospheric restaurant design and personal service by the owner. Their homemade honey wine was a perk as well. My party had two combo platters, one veg and one meat, which came together on a ginormous injera and with plenty of refill injera rolls as we moaned a pleasurable path through the platter. We split a bottle of honey wine. I think we spent about $38/head? Good Date night spot. So grateful for the amazing ethnic and culinary richness of our East Bay!

We got the Doro Wot and Beg Wot. Both were amazing with the Injera and salad! Our food and Ethiopian coffee came out quickly. Our server even provided extra Injera without having to ask! Great food and service!

I have been eating Ethiopian food for years!!! This food is traditional Ethiopian, but too salty. The salt lingers in your body for hours. When you eat here, please tell them not so much salt!!

The food was so good that I told the waiter I want to marry into an Ethiopian family just so I could eat like this every
Barcote will always have a special place in my heart. It was a neighborhood go to for my wife and I when we lived nearby. The consideration and hospitality were always excellent as was the barcote (spicy) sauce. Excellent renditions of all the Ethiopian vegetarian classics. No matter where I happen to be in the world, sometimes I wish I could just go grab some food from Barcote.
the food is very over priced. I ordered one ye bege tebes and gluten free injera(ye tefee Enjera) and ended up paying 30 USD which is the price and the test of the food and the portion was not that much great. hope you guys gone improve and provided real test of Ethiopia.

Forever my favorite Ethiopian restaurant in the Bay. Super tasty, great owner. I've been coming here for a decade and I love it. The patio in the back is adorable. The dining room is cozy. Food comes out fast and service is friendly. Prices are very reasonable and, most importantly, the food is phenomenal. Highly highly recommend.

Barcote is one of my favourite restaurants in the Bay Area, and my absolute favourite to take company to if they aren't local. The portions are perfect, 2 veggie platters are enough to feed 4 hungry people, satisfy all of those in my friend groups that aren't meat eaters, and are astoundingly delicious. Everyone there is incredibly friendly, and the back patio is a great atmosphere to eat and chat. Every guest I've ever brought there has been completely satisfied!

We were actually quite surprised about this place. It's somewhat easy to miss from the main road but we're glad that we saw it and tried it. We sat in front area, but there's a bigger area in the back as well as patio. We tried the vegetarian/meat combination which is definitely more than enough for two people. Food was great and server was very friendly.Street parking but there are lots of spaces outside.Place will definitely be on our go-to places list if we want to have Ethiopian.
