I just came here for the first time and am shocked I waited this long. This is a really cute little spot a bit of a walk from Jack London downtown area, right along the water. They seem to have a really cute indoor area, but they're set up well for outdoor and socially distanced seating with several bench tables along their patio area. We were this past Sunday afternoon and were able to be seated with no issue. I was really excited to try some German food, and my boyfriend was excited to indulge in some liter beers. We had another friend with us and ended up ordering the pretzel, potato pancakes, oysters, spaetzle with sausage, and buffalo wings - I also ordered the mezcal sour to sip on, as I'm not a big beer drinker. The drinks came out relatively quickly, with the food following shortly after. Honestly - I was really impressed with everything we had. The potato pancakes came with apple sauce and sour cream and were really crispy and delicious (maybe just needing a tiny bit more salt, which you can easily add), and the pretzel with big and soft and so tasty with the different mustards and cheese mixture. The oysters were okay, but good for the price point, and the wings were meaty and saucy just the way I like! The spaetzle was the winner here for me. Super cheesy and well flavored, like an extra indulgent mac and cheese. The sausage on top was also delicious, but likely not necessary given all of the other food we enjoyed.Overall, this was an awesome experience and I look forward to going back to explore more of the menu! Highly recommend for a beautiful day for drinks or to just relax and hang by the water.
Excellent selection of beers and German food on the harbor.Outside seating on COVID controls made the time there comfortable, most other customers were respectful of each other's space.Tried two German beers that I've never had before, both excellent and memorable enough that I'll search for them after going home back East. The sausage player, nice selection of different sauce choices, the sauerkraut; prolly the best I've ever had, even as I've grown up in Germany. It's a recipe that I'll most likely struggle to copy, but I'll try. Will go back again before heading out this week.
Got to go back a week ago and had a great time with family. The staff looks like they are working hard to provide a safe and fun experience. All were following safety protocols, which they also had posted at the cue area on a chalkboard. The menus are posted online and easily accessible via your smartphone. Food was on point; bretzel (pretzel), burgers, potato pancakes..yum. I had tried a new crispy chicken sandwich that caught my attention because of the jalepeno slaw listed on the menu. It was bomby! Good beer and cocktails. I really appreciated my server. We were first in line when they were opening and he was busting is butt getting all the table set up and things moved around for the day and still paid good attention to us which I appreciated. Great view for lunch and now a little boardwalk set up for the public that'll take you to a new market down the way for an after meal stroll. Thanks to the Crew at Brotzeit! We'll see you again soon.
Not authentic German. Jägerschnitzel tasted bland and not at all authentic. Potato pancakes were horrible and not even fried all the way. Bummer, i really like German food
Some of the Best German food I've had since I lived in Vienna! Not a super extensive menu for lunch during COVID, but the classic were there and excellent. My Wiener Schnitzel was perfectly battered and tenderized. The casual outdoor setting on the estuary was much appreciated as we ventured out for our first on-premises meal since sheltering took effect.
Amazing!!!! Approximately 30 minute wait to get a table but 100% worth the wait. BEST HOT DOGS & Brotzeit Lokal IN ca!!! This place is a must try
I saw this place off the street near the hotel and said why not try them, since my husband is German and my MIL shown me how to cook that culture. I love the red cabbages and pork chop from this culture however it was not the same, but Then again mother is never like "mom" cooks. They were very full and did wear mask not gloves they cleaned the tables after every use, being a waitress for many years I picked out their customer service skills in my head, wrote them down for this review. It was two ladies 1 man and servers- they couldn't keep up they didn't know some of the drinks I wanted to try. (from Germany). When it came to my food the fries were cold once getting it I kept eating and ended up just having a Mamosa. They didn't have a lot of non beef choices. But I tried what they had. See our pictures for our choices. Maybe I will give them another day - try not on a Sunday
We have been to this place before COVID, Good German food and beer! It's understandable that the serving norm is different because of COVID- 19. The waitress (no name tag) who was apparently not interested to explain properly how to get a table and order. We told her at least three times that we don't understand the procces. But she keep giving us short , vague and incomplete answer. .She sounds "I am not interested serving you".We finally gave up and left.
Made a stop there on the way back from Sonoma. The day was so nice by the water. I was in Germany ?? around this time last year. And I missed the food and beer there. But this place brought all my good memories back! Sausages and braised pork shank taste amazing. German beer ? is very authentic too.
A lovely place for outdoor dining. The food and drinks never disappoint! Staff is friendly and attentive. One of our go-to weekend spots!
the fish and chips really good first time there
Great spot to enjoy outdoor dining during this pandemic. The wait staff exercise good covid19 practices. We enjoyed the fish and chips, which was nice and light, with tartar sauce that had a kick to it; and a sausage platter of wurzige and weissenwurst(sp?). We found the former to be on the salty side, but the weiss was perfect..moist and flavorful. The platter also comes with a nice variety of sides which complemented the palate well. I look forward to trying all their sausages!
German food and oysters with a great beer and wine selection. Comfortable social distancing layout and great service. Potato pancakes, sausage, schnitzel, and slaw are tough to beat. Boat-in option is great.
Ever since i traveled to Europe I haven't been able to find a legit spot. This is the closest thing to the real deal. They have the best and most authentic German food classics!!! We enjoyed a filling meal at a budget friendly price!!!
We lovedThis place! Great views, decent service, really authentic German food (I think) fun beer and wine selections. And a damn good margarita!
