I tried finally some takeout from this place after hearing so much buzz about it. The paneer tiki masala and rice I had was very tasty. The spices were nicely balanced and not too bold. The paneer was slightly chewy rather than the more firm texture I'm used to. At some point I will go back for a sit-down meal there since the dining area looked cozy and inviting. I'm not 100% sure I'd try the paneer again, but menu had all the usual suspects so I'm sure I'll find an alternative. The service was very friendly and fast.

I recently dined at High Peaks Kitchen, hoping to satisfy my craving for tikka masala, but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. The Chicken Tikka Masala, a dish I usually love for its rich and aromatic sauce, was disappointingly bland. It seemed as if the spices had taken a day off, leaving the dish devoid of the robust flavors typically associated with Indian cuisine. The Naan bread, another staple I was eagerly anticipating, was undercooked. The doughy texture indicated it hadn't spent enough time in the tandoor, lacking the characteristic slight char and fluffiness that I look forward to with every Indian meal. Additionally, the service after delivering our entrees was virtually nonexistent. Once our food was served, it became a challenge to catch the attention of the staff for anything further. Whether we needed additional beverages, condiments, or just someone to check on us to ensure our meal was satisfactory, the lack of service was a disappointment. Overall, my experience at High Peaks Kitchen was underwhelming. Will not return.

Power went out tonight and we've been craving Indian food anyway, so we thought we'd try something new to us and in our neighborhood. We've walked by this place a lot so it seemed like the perfect choice for takeout to eat by candlelight. We liked the saag daal, however the chicken tikka masala was really dry and pretty bland. We even ordered both white meat and thigh, and even the thigh was desiccated. The real issue, though, was that we ordered lamb korma but when we returned home from picking it up, it turned out to be cauliflower and potatoes. Then, when I called to tell them we got the wrong thing, they insisted we got the lamb, not cauliflower. Obviously we were going to have to bring the cauliflower back with us to prove we got the wrong thing. On our second try we got the lamb, which was fine (though not a single cashew to be found), but I was pretty surprised when they took the cauliflower back - they did not even offer to let us keep it for the inconvenience of having to drive there and back twice (not to mention the insinuation that we were lying). That's some pretty lousy customer service, and since the food was overall unremarkable, we will definitely not be back.

Ordered the chicken tikka masala and it was very bland and not enough sauce. Chicken byrani also lacked the normal spice I am used to by eating at other Indian restaurants. Chai Tea was the only thing worth mentioning. Will not be coming back here.

This is one of my family's favorite restaurants. The food is delicious and not oily. Their saag daal has become a comfort food that we crave when we're feeling sick! We usually order their food to go but if you eat in the restaurant, they offer you really wonderful, complimentary chai. In addition to delicious food, the family that runs the restaurant is very warm and welcoming.

Yeah. I don't get the 5 star reviews. I got the vindaloo lamb and the Chicken Tikka Masala and they tasted pretty much the same. They get an extra star for somehow pulling that one off. That's how bland it was. We're talking cafeteria style bland. Too bad. I was seriously craving some indian flavors. Or at least flavor.

Was craving some Indian food and decided to try a new spot. Overall it was okay, not fantastic but scratched the itch. The lassi was quite bland, as was the tikka. Probably not somewhere I'd return, but good in a pinch.

Delicious food with a cute patio! No frills, quite small. It's a go to favorite for takeout.

I had a lovely Diwali lunch with my family here and I'd definitely be back. The menu was simple and each dish we ordered was delicious. The bhindi stood out for me. The food was flavorful and not overly oily. There's not a whole lot of seating and the indoor space felt a bit tight so we sat outside. So far though this has been one of our favorite Indian restaurants in Oakland!

We ordered takeout from High Peaks and the food was outstanding. Everything was cooked with care and the flavors were wonderful. The family there was also very welcoming when we came to pick up the food. They put a lot of love into their business. I'm so glad I found them, High Peaks will be my go-to from now on.

We rabdomly picked this place tonight for a meal and it was MORE than worth it. We tried a lot and nothing disappointed. Aloo Gobi, so fresh. Perfectly cooked. Naan is thinner and sometimes crispy. So delicious. My father had Lamb Madras that was tender and perfectly spiced. My favorite was the Daal. Best I've had in years. The family here are so kind and seems to know everyone by first name. Phone hasn't stopped ringing. 5 stars.

I love this food. The only Indian restaurant I order from. I'm a loyal customer! My son and I love to get High Peaks Kitchen for dinner. Always fresh, always consistent, quick service, always DELICIOUS!

Solid fast casual spot! Quick prep, warm service. The paneer wrap is creative, fresh-tasting, and yummy.

This is our family favorite for fresh and delicious food. We order at least once a month, they know our names and our order. It's a modest restaurant that is all about the food. They are super nice and always friendly.

Don't recommend if you're Indian. White people may like it (depending on whether they've had Indian food before)
