Closed for good y'all. The owner still has his other project, Sideshow, open for business. He says they may add some of the Home Grown items to the Sideshow menu but no promises. It was a great spot while it lasted. Best of luck to him.

Home Grown is right around the corner from us and it's our favorite go-to spot when we're looking to eat something healthy. They have salads, bowls, and sandwiches to choose from and the Ginger Miso Bowl is my favorite. They also have a few smoothie and juice options, as well as acai bowls. Service is quick and there is typically seating inside or outside or you can order takeout.

I hate it when restaurants charge for extra sauce...especially when it makes the dish. I was turned off the first couple times I came because they would charge for sauce, but once the owner changed, so did the service. We have since gotten our favorite Miso bowl with chicken with extra crack sauce many many times, and introduced it to our friends as well. Generous portions, great quality food, and SERIOUSLY delicious. Can't wait to go back once they open again! I miss my Miso bowl!

Since I'm working from home today I decided to give this place a try for lunch. I ordered the ranchero bowl and added a soft egg. It was not only really delicious, but also super filling! I finished about half before I packed it up for an afternoon snack. Definitely worth every penny. I took my order to go, but they have a quaint set up with a few tables inside and a couple pop up table options outside. I will definitely come back here for a healthy meal with all the flavor.

Got the miso bowl with an egg. I thought it was a bit overpriced. The food was very acidic with too much of this dense sauce all over it. Made my stomach hurt for the rest of the day.

There's a unique quality about Home Grown that sets it apart from the plethora of açaí spots in Oakland: clean yet delicious. My partner and I ordered the pesto chicken sandwich and açaí bowl to share. The chicken was grilled to perfection, with a juicy quality that only fresh meat has. The pesto spread was creamy rather than oily and paired well with the perfectly portioned tomato slices and toasted bread. Similar to a panini, it had a pleasant crunch to the bite, but also a creamy and juicy finish. The açaí bowl tasted fresh rather than dessert- like. I appreciated the lightly honey sweetened base and strawberries on top. I'm not a huge fan of coconut shavings but didn't mind their presence :) The customer service was great. This business hires and employs migrant women. I gladly supported this business! Will definitely come back.

Found this restaurant on Yelp looking as i was searching fro healthy eating options in Oakland. Went in and after my first sandwich was immediately hooked. Its been about a month since my first time there and I have already gone back 6x! Really recommend this place if your looking for fresh food, great service and plenty of options!

I got a ginger miso bowl from here for lunch today and was very impressed. For $13 (including tax), you get huge servings of kale salad, brown rice, shredded chicken, and some tasty green sauce. Pretty decent value for the area (thanks for nothing, Emeryville) and I feel great and very full after eating it.

Limited seating (about 3 tables inside, some bar stool seating I think, and a table or 2 outside). I went over the holidays, so it wasn't busy, but boy was it tasty! I got the chicken pesto sandwich - The bread had a great texture. Chicken was cooked to perfection with just a hint of char, giving it great flavor. My only complaint would be it could have used a little more pesto (for my tastes), but I'm sure I could request a little extra next time. Oh, and that I disappointedly ordered the elote, only to be told they no longer offer it. Sad. I'll definitely go back to try more items on their menu. And to get that sandwich.

This place is great! The bowls, wraps, and salads are delicious, with super fresh ingredients. I love the warm soft pita on the wraps. A welcome addition to the neighborhood.

I had some time before an appointment I had in Berkeley, so I decided to surprise my sister and have lunch with her near her workplace. She recommended this place that was right around the corner from her job. She loves healthy food. I don't get her because I still have to force myself into not entering into an abusive love affair with bread, noodles, chips- basically all things carbs. Anyway, she recommended the rice bowl. Honestly, I should have gone with my gut and got a sandwich as I am a sandwich person and she is a bowl person. I got the Ginger Miso bowl, and she treated me to a hibiscus ginger drink. The bowl was visually beautiful with fresh ingredients. It came with a kale salad, their kimchee, and two poached eggs in a avocado sauce on top of brown rice. The kale salad was nice, the kimchee tasty, and the eggs were perfectly cooked but significantly lacked salt and seasoning. The drink was very gingery- so much so that I couldn't taste anything else. There was also a good amount of ginger in their kimchee. It was a mild dish, my sister's was much more flavorful, so I think I ordered the wrong thing the first time here. So, I wish I had the sandwich, and I also wish it wasn't $15 for one bowl (without meat), but hey, I know they are healthy and fresh when it comes to ingredients, so I guess the price fits for lunch. A few bar seats in front and communal seating in the back. I don't see myself coming back based on what I ate and the price, but I'm all for 2nd chances if I were in a bind!

The food here was good and bathroom was clean. We had the Mediterranean wrap which is NOT a wrap. It's a salad with rice, but was very delicious. Price was OK, but healthy food nonetheless.
