The atmosphere has improved because they used to play a Dido CD on repeat, but now they run a mix station. I never went there for the music, I always go for the fish. We have such a good time eating with the friendly staff at Mijori that my girlfriend will not eat sushi anywhere else.

Been coming here for 25 years. The food is always great and the service is on point. Get a sushi boat, chirashi bowl or the special rolls like the double eagle.

Very nice service. Basic sushi. Fresh but sloppily prepared. Spicy roll means squirt a bunch of siracha sauce on top? Just mediocre and unimaginative in my opinion.

This is a true neighborhood gem. It's hands down the most reliably fresh and affordable sushi restaurant I've found in Oakland. The ambiance is quaint, the service is quick, and the fish is delectable. The agadashi tofu is the best I've ever had! It has the essence of ginger!

Love, love, love this place. Fresh fish, good service, and good prices! What more can you ask for? My family and I (before I had a family) have been coming through two generations of ownership. Jimmy's parents taught my daughter how to use chopsticks and brought her along in the Japanese culture. The father fed and nurtured me through graduate school - I didn't need to order - he just took care of me. Couldn't speak a word of English but

Have been coming Mijori since we lived in Oakland and still our favorite even after moving. We get the 49er roll and the Y2K.My only recommendation would be to have more options for the edamame-- they only do boiled. Would be nice to have a garlic edamame option. The place is small but intimate and wouldn't be a bad date spot. They get busy in the evenings, something yo keep in mind.

I wanted to make this restaurant my new spot so because I m new to the area, love sushi and it out a lot. But 3 things turned me off not to come back - and one was a deal breaker. Before I start off - the staff was nice. 1. Got served Uni that smelled and tasted spoiled. I love love Uni and familiar with the Japanese sourced and California sourced flavors. I ate the first piece and it just didn't taste right. I smelled the second. It was like dead fish left out for days. While it was chilled it stank. I asked the chef what region it was from, he said Hokkaido and it supposed to be bitter. It wasn't bitter. It was slimier and stinkier that I had ever seen and I have eaten this a lot. I am a sashimi fan. My taste buds are conditioned to raw and different. I picked at the second piece thinking I will find a part that I want to eat - but my nose said absolutely no. Then the chef told me he got this today. And then he took my Uni back. And he was very nice and seared it and added extra spices and then gave it back. At this point I figured I already had a spoiled one so I won't be rude and i ate this crisped version where the smell was now gone (burned) and spiced to no recognition. 2. They serve Costco red wine. At least be slick and hide it. And then it made me think - did I just eat Costco tuna sashimi ?! Did I just pay for Costco materials made by chefs ? 3. Every container is plastic. My water cup. The soup bowl. The soy sauce holder. The chop sticks are the cheapest kind so watch for splinters. Overall - cheap operation with who know where the fish comes from. Also parking was tough. Will not come back.

MijoriI was seated right away. However, while others after me were told to sit anywhere, I was sitting towards the back and would have preferred a window. In fairness, I did not ask as this was my first time. ( For reference, there may have been three tables being used, one with a couple of people and the other two with individuals, so not busy.)It took a very long time after being seated to even being asked what I wanted. Even something as simple as water, so while I had planned on staying. I ended up food to go. I was tempted to walk out and leave prior to ordering, not only for not being offered something to drink, but menu was really dirty.Re wait. in fairness, it felt like a hometown place relaxed and slower, but water would have made the difference. The menu, FORTUNATELY, is not complete as I have a couple of sushi rolls that I always try first at a new restaurant just to gauge it against others. & they were not listed. Dragon roll and Caterpillar. The lady who helped me was genuinely nice when I asked for the 2 rolls. However, the quality of the rolls were sub par.The avocado appears to have been sitting out, and some of the elements of the sushi as a whole did not look or taste as fresh. ( I was there early evening, perhaps avocado had been from lunch or at even earlier.)Nothing special, ... may return for a second chance.FYI, my pics make the food look brighter than what was truth.

Great sushi and selection of other Japanese dishes at reasonable prices. Unassuming on the outside but busy inside. Despite this, we were able to be seated and served miso soup immediately, and overall the servers were fast, attentive, and nice. Would recommend and come back.My husband got the salmon combo dinner. Large portion and tasted great. I got the Y2K role which was also quite tasty.
