Great ambiance, and great food to go with it. My business partner and I went in family style and shared a few plates ranging from the bone marrow, garlic shrimp, blackened catfish, and that alone was enough to fill us up. Highly recommend and will be going back.
The food was delicious, and the ambiance is immaculate. Definitely recommend the chicken wings and bone marrow. The steak was also excellent. I don’t recommend the crazy pisco though. It doesn’t go down as easily as a regular sour.
Tasty selection of food, much of it in tapas style. Waiters were knowledgeable, swift and amiable. Art and decor is worth a visit on their own. The music was was goldilocks right: right beat to create an air of expectation, not so slow to send you to sleep, not so fast to sound like a night club; loud enough to mask conversation on the next table, quiet enough to hear my friend. And the crowd was a mix of humanity, all of whom had made an effort to look right.
We went here and the place is absolutely very busy on a rainy night. We ordered the bone marrow, crab cake and the 1 pound steak. The dishes are appetizing and very filling. Only got to eat 1 out 3 bonemarrow. The crab cake is great and so is the steak, huge servings for us Asians. A nice feel of the place but not for me, too crowded!
1. Food was delicious.(we got crispy tofu which I highly recommend as its cooked to perfection)2. The vibes were good.3. Very cool interior designs and style.4. They had a DJ playing music.5. Our waitress was wonderful.6. The drinks (I got pink promise) were very well made.7. The food arrived quickly and hot.The two reason it loses a star1. Parking in that area is hell. Be prepared to circle for a long time in bad traffic due to uber drivers and people stopping in the middle of roads to run out and grab food places.2. The portion sizes for the coat are not amazing.Everything else about it I recommend.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Oakland. LOVE the food and the atmosphere! Blackened catfish and the creme brulee are my to-gos, both are extremely delicious. Very happy to finally be able to go back and enjoy all my faves.
Accommodating staff, great food, perfect music and ambiance
this restaurant never disappoints, the staff is amazing and you can order any drink or food item off the menu and not be disappointed. I do recommend the shrimp though, its my personal favorite.
The cocktails are fantastic. I love coming here after work. I recommend the fried chicken.
Went here with a few friends on a Saturday night. We got there around 6pm, about an hour after it opened and it was already getting quite busy. We weren't able to make a reservation but luckily the manager/host were able to accommodate a party of 5 on a busy Saturday night. We sat upstairs by the bar and it was great! Our server was very attentive and helpful. We also loved the music that was playing the whole time, made us want to get up and dance. We ordered some drinks and everything in the appetizers section (10 items) and we liked just about every item. Drinks: Evad'O - refreshing! Jalisco mule - refreshing, like a Moscow mule Familia Fresca Top favorite bites were: -Calamari - good batter ratio, loved the onion addition and also ordered another round! -Chicken wings - good flavor! -No cheese "Mac n cheese" - mindblown there wasn't any cheese in this. We loved it so much we ordered a second one! -Brussel Sprouts - delicious! -Garlic Prawns - yum! Good size prawns! -Pork Spare ribs - pretty tender and flavorful -Beef Bone Marrow - good, but kind of had a hard time getting everything out. Didn't love, but wasn't bad either: -Polenta - too hard for my liking -Collard Greens - okay, but not my fave -Crispy Tofu - good, but very simple. We also ordered the One Pound Rib-Eye Steak and side of fries to share. The steak was cooked perfectly with good flavor and we were surprised at the amount of fries served with the steak. We thought the extra side of fries was added to the steak but we ended up getting another separate plate of fries. Overall a great experience! Great food and service!
Great good and excellent atmosphere. The staff are friendly, the service is excellent and the Mac n cheese is definitely something you need to order. If i could i'd make this a weekly hangout spot.
Good vibe, however food is underwhelming. Ordered a medium steak just to be served nearly well done. The almond cake was…ok. On the plus side, cocktails and service meet adequate standards. I’ll try any restaurant one time, Mua is not a return visit for us.
Double date at Mua last night. We had the Garlic Prawns, Grilled Romain and the Blackened Catfish. All delicious. Even my Hennessy Side Car was excellent. Nice ambiance and wonderful customer service. Our car was vandalized parked across the street from Mua. 3 windows were bashed in on our Tesla "rental". Please be aware that if you park in the area you are respectable to vehicle vandalism. I'll be Uber'ing next time for sure. But I'll def go back the MUA.
Met a friend here (pre COVID... remember that distant past?) and was so pleasantly surprised! It was hard to find parking but other than that, everything was really smooth! I walked up, no wait, sat at the bar to wait for my friend and was greeted by a very friendly bartender that took care of me right away. It was right around 5:30pm on a weekday so the happy hour crowd was trickling in and it was starting to get busy, but it still felt really chill even with the crowd around. The ambiance of this spot is nice. I got the vegan mac and cheese and the brussel sprouts. Both were VERY good. Absolutely no complaints. Aside from the food being good as hell, the bathrooms were clean and well-stocked (which is literally make-or-break for me), everyone was nice, and the prices were fair. After we had dinner we headed to the New Parkway theatre to catch a film about Marshawn Lynch. Great location, we didn't even have to move our cars we just walked over. Really enjoyed my evening, and Mua was the icing on the cake. Can't wait to get back and try more things :)
It's 9:38Pm and I'm still standing by their door as I write this review. Lady at the front ( who previously) told me on the phone that their last call is at 9:45pm and close time is at 10pm, turned me down because I wanted to seat at the bar. She specifically said that the people seating there ( at the bar) were friends of the bartender LOL. I have supported MUA for years, never had a problem with them, but this was disappointing! Even more so, after a ( still going on) pandemic and unknown people ( like me) have supported your business while you had tou door CLOSED! I did let her know I was ordering food and she asked if I wanted a table, I said no, and I said I would like to seat at the the bar. But was told no, because I wasn't friends with the bartender. Good luck with that!
