My friend and I were looking for a Black-owned spot in Oakland and we stumbled upon Soul Slice. After looking through the menu before eating here, I was nervous to try the different combinations of pizzas they had. A lot of the soul food staples on pizza, really had me shook and nervous to try. I love the soul food here. It's a great space, the bar, the fried oysters, the chicken nuggets, cocktails and fried okra. It's very reasonably priced and Karter, is a kind 'soul'. One of the few black-owned soul food restaurants in the Bay area. Worth the trip.

Best soul food in Oakland, and I'm tempted to say best soul food anywhere in California! The Black-Eyed Peas pizza with the biscuit crust was amazing - every ingredient so fresh and delicious, and combined into an incredibly satisfying combo. I could have eaten 50 more bowls of the fried okra and charred collard greens. Warm and welcoming atmosphere, too. Highly recommend.
