A unique coffee shop to study and read books. No loud noises which will help you a lot to concentrate on what you do. They do have a variety of food and drinks you can select from. I honestly love the great interior all over the place. Trust me! You will never be disappointed for sure! A memorable place to relax.

The baristas are asking everyone for a tip. We’re in a pandemic, I get it.My partner ordered drip coffee and replied, “no” when she asked and then she gave him a real nasty look when she realized she wasn’t going to make an extra $1 for literally pushing a button.Tipping is up to the customer and the customer does not deserve nasty looks for saying no. I know he would have tipped if he ordered a special made drink, but it was drip coffee, so no, you don’t need a tip for pre-made coffee.

I was delighted as I visited this shop for the first time. The coffee and foods were yummy and OK. Also, the place was captivating to stay, for it was clean, stylish, and comfortable to study and chill. Honestly, for my first visit to your shop, I was completely happy and satisfied. I will surely come back from time to time. Thanks for the service!

Cute walk up shop with good prices and tasty cappuccinos! I usually stop by right at 8am when they open and a long line almost instantaneously appears. I appreciate the fully compostable cup since we can't use reusable these days :)I agree with some of the other reviewers -- customer interactions are a little friendlier at other coffee shops. I would say of the baristas I've seen interact with customers are terse and cold. I'm guessing they're just young and untrained. One bad experience is all people need to justify never coming back, though! Train your staff! They have a cute sidewalk garden seating area (benches for maybe 8 people max) and no indoor space. I'll try the pastries next, they always look tasty.

I always pass this tiny shop on way home from work. You have to look for it or you will miss it. It is on 40th street the same street that the Moblie (Use to be 76) gas station is on that's always has a long line for car washes. On the next block.I was really happy to find street parking and they were still open (They close at 1pm) for my afternoon coffee pick me up. I ordered a latte price cheaper then Starsbucks and Peet's, and tasted great!Coffee was put in a 100% compostable cup and lid :) The cup even says no trees were harmed in the making of this cup... how cute!Service was nice friendly, due to COVID they did have sanitizer out and they ask you if you'd like to tip and how much and they add it in. So I never signed or hand to touch anything other then my drink! Nice!As I was there three minutes to close I was really happy they did not turn me away. There is a small area to sit and chat across from the cafe and people watch. Will try again for sure!

What we liked about this place are the very lovely staff and a very welcoming atmosphere. The coffee also that we ordered was very tasty and very satisfying. Thus, we enjoyed our stay here. If you're into reading while savoring a coffee, you could pick and read your favorite book to read. Thank you so much for welcoming us nicely!

Cute little coffee shop that is walkable from my friends place! I got a matcha latte 50% sweet and it was alright - was a little bitter so I asked for a little more sweetener. I can tell that they use real matcha which I appreciate. It was pretty expensive ($5.25) for the size it was, but it's typical Oakland pricing. Not the best matcha latte I've had but it wasn't too bad.

This coffee shop is the best place to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee. They have all the things that I needed, and I'm thankful because the staffs here are very attentive. I think this would be the best coffee shop in the area and I want you guys to try them too. Thank you so much! Keep it up, guys!

I was on the way to work in Oakland, and needed a little morning wake up drink. I was looking for a local spot, but a lot of places we're either closed because of Sunday; or the Shelter in Place. I wanted a small owned business and not a chain. I found this place and it was perfect. I had ordered a Soy Mocha and a Chocolate croissant. The Baristas were nice and I was in and out very quickly. A lot of street parking and easily accessible. The no contact rules were observed and followed. I will definitely go there again for a great cup of coffee and pastry.

Whenever I have an early morning doctor's appointment (that I'm way too early for) I make it a point to stop by Subrosa. This is a small little coffee shop where they not only serve quality coffee, but really care about their customers. When I was waiting for my order, I noticed how attentive they were to their customer's needs! They made great conversation with regulars and I don't know, I just loved that. Call me old-fashioned, but that's one of my dreams to have a coffee shop really care about you so much they know more than just your go-to order. Example? The baristas ask other customers about their lives and even noticed the little things (like another customer's new haircut). While their menu may be limited to some I feel like this helps them focus on the quality of the products they serve. They have alternative milk options available too. I almost always end up with a pastry during every visit, but never feel pressured to order one. I did notice, however, that they do not have any means of heating up a pastry if that's how you want to take your quiche, croissant, etc. (I could be wrong, but I did overhear the staff member tell the customer before me that they didn't have a microwave soooooo....) FYI - The seating is all outdoors. There's seats in a parklet in front and also in the little alley to the side. The shop itself is quaint and if it's pouring rain than your best bet is to grab your coffee to go! All in all, I definitely will return next time I'm in the area and in need of a little caffeine pick-me-up!
