Such a cool restaurant! From the decor to the food. The fat Lady Burger was soooo good and filling!
We have been going to The Fat Lady for years. Last night was exceptional. The filet was a beautiful tender piece of steak, the prawns in lemon spaghetti sauce with asparagus was fantastic. Our friends had never been and they were impressed with crab cakes, calamari steak, French onion soup and exceptional lamb on rib bones appetizer. Wonderful evening.
Food was delicious ambiance was great and so was the bartender. I'll be going back soon.
Maybe because we've always gone at off-prime times, it's never been as crowded or as loud as you might expect. Never had trouble hearing my companions, and the meals are as good as the menu sounds. So it's a good spot for a friendly get-together -- or a romantic one. The decor took me a minute to appreciate, and then I really did. It's fun, with great food and service.
Excellent food we tried the French onion soup Reuben sandwich and the seafood linguine. The service and atmosphere was delight reminding me of Paris! Everything(including cocktails) was tasty and fresh. Looking forward to my next visit!
been coming here for over 10 years. family friendly and great place for date night or a night out with friends.
We ordered an appetizer zucchini strips, they were almost cold, nothing worse than a hot dish served cold.. The burgers were excellent.
7/31/21-The double cut pork chop was cooked perfectly! I only wish that I had more of the delicious mashed potatoes and 1/2 of a carrot, broccoli just right!I am glad that we had reservations for dining outside last night. The sign on the door said that masks weren't required indoors! I don't recall seeing anyone wearing masks in the jam packed restaurant. I have a feeling that we'll be eating out of To Go boxes again in 2 weeks.10/27/18-We went there again last Saturday to take in the Halloween decorations. I had the scallops with risotto, the scallops were burned on the ends and still raw inside. It still amazes me that some restaurants in the Bay Area can't properly seafood?10/28/17-I went there for the first time Monday night before Halloween to see the decorations... Impressive! This cozy place has a good menu and good service. The pork chop was a little small for a double French cut Chop, taste was very good, cooked just the way I like it but, needed more mashed potatoes.Salads and Appetizers small, tasty and pricey.I would go there again.
ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!!!!!! Ordered the ribeye with mashed potatoes and market vegetables. The steak was juicy, cooked to perfection, and piping hot, the veggies were well seasoned. This place is on our list as a MUST when we visit Oakland. Thank you for a pleasant dining experience, we ate outside in the garden!!
The Fat Lady Bar is tucked away gem in Oakland. It’s classic dishes and the artwork will impress anyone who has the chance to visit.
Omg. I've lived in Oakland for almost 9 years, and never went here. Now that restrictions are loose and husband and I are vaccinated we decided to go for a much needed date night. I had the best drinks the bartender did amazing. My husband ordered Clam chowder was delicious, but the bread it came with is was a hella stale. The steak was season well, veggies were a little cold. I had the crab cakes. Delicious I love me some crab cakes. The chicken Marsala was good, never had it before so it was a definite change. I wouldn't get it again, just because I I'd like to try other foods there. We'll definitely be back, and oh ya did I mention the drinks were amazing. She even made me and old drink called the bordello, gosh darn it was the strongest and most bitter drink I had ever tasted. So good. Will definitely be back.
An old traditional restaurant in Oakland that serves great and tasty food. Interior decorated celebrating Halloween, the bar serves great cocktails, has a very good selection of spirits and wines. The food served is not complicated and very tasty. The service is even, unhurried and with a smile. A great place for good drinks, food and service. Have dined many times. And never been disappointed. Great Jack London Square and Oakland institution. Worth a try.
While visiting Oakland, my family and I came across the fat lady, and we were very happy with out visit. The calamari was flavorfull and crispy, the ribeye steaks were perfectly made, and they had great beer and drinks. The waitress was also very friendly. When we come back to Cali we'll definitely be coming again.
Loved brunch! I had the asparagus omelette w/bacon which was delicious, I just wish the serving size was bigger. Service was great, I’ll definitely go back for more!!
I would go 4.5 stars because it's a tad "worn" on the inside but for many folks, that would be "charm" and heck, we had a great time. We came in for brunch on a Sunday and ate at a table inside. Cocktails were had and they were fabulous. The espresso martini for my wife and the Boulevardier for me, which amounts to a fancy Manhattan. They were spot on and I told the bartender that as we left. I had the corned beef hash with two perfectly poached eggs and sourdough toast and it was maybe the best I've ever had. My wife had steak and eggs and she deemed her meal to be very nice. Our server was great as well. All in all, the place doesn't exude a polished feel but if you get past that, you'll have a great time. I know we'll be back.
