Real crab! I can't have gluten or soy so sushi is not something I do too often but this place has real crab and doesn't blink when I bring my own Sanjay pea protein tamari. Atmosphere is fine. Service is fine.

Please review your bill. 4 of us went to the restaurant on Feb 9, 2024. When the bill came, the waitress took my card and processed it. Unfortunately I did not review the bill at the and wanted to leave as Upon reviewing my bill I found that other than automatically charging 20% tip, the amount of the tax was calculated on the total check including the tax. I understand that if there is a large party and the tip is pre arranged, that is the law to charge sales tax on the tip also, but 4 people does not qualify under the tax law for banquet.

New management makes ALL the difference! The hamachi nigiri was so fresh, and I loved my chicken udon soup - especially the broth. My teens loved their teriyaki beef bento box, and unagi Don. The only "miss" was on the easiest thing: the California rolls (which came in the bento box mix) were awful! Like worse than Safeway. How you can mess that up, I don't know. But even so, we'll be back to the new Serika!

This place has really amazing sushi. I heard there was new ownership and have been meaning to stop by. So glad I did. There were plenty of delicious vegetarian rolls to choose from for my vegetarian daughter.

This by far my favorite sushi restaurant ever! I have been many times now and the experience never disappoints. Very friendly staff and good service. The sushi has amazing flavor and it is so fresh, the chef is outstanding. Definitely check this place out you won’t regret it.

The restaurant recently went under new ownership, with the sushi chef an alum from Ozumo in SF. Overall, this is a great sushi option in Lamorinda if you don't want to splurge at Hanazen. The restaurant can accommodate families and the staff are really kind and helpful, especially as we were eating with our toddler. We ordered mostly sushi, and udon for our son, and were happy with the quality of the fish. We went on a Friday night, which is a busy period, and they were doing everything they could to make sure that we could sit and have a meal before we needed to take our son home for bed. There aren't a lot of good food options in Orinda, and thankfully Serika is a place where we're happy to come back.
We’ve lived in Orinda for five years and used to go to the “old” Serika. Now that there are new owners, new menu, and a new atmosphere it’s the best! Such an improvement and delight!

Quality of the sushi/Nigiri is top notch. It's completely different quality than other sushi spots in Orinda. Chicken Katsu at lunch was super tender. Fish selection is also not bad (if you like things like Amaebi, Kimidai, Salmon belly, etc). Dinner service a month ago was a bit slow but recent lunch service has been excellent. Will not go anywhere else for sushi in Orinda.
