This was so much fun! We did the Alice in Wonderland room with Karina and she was such a fun Game Master! She gave us the rules and the occasional hint. The decor was very clever with loads of puzzles and clues. A huge thank you to Karina and also to Ash for letting us mess up the rooms she had just reset to take more pictures! We had such a blast!

We visit the Monterey area every year for two weeks in July. This is the first time we have done an escape room here. The main review here is Christina one of the owners was willing to go above and beyond to make sure our visit was memorable. The staff was amazing and the room that we chose (Innocent) was awesome. The entire experience was a great one. I can't wait to get back next year and do another one. Thank you Christina for a great experience.

HIGHLIGHT OF MY TRIP!!!My friends and I came down to Monterey for the weekend for a mild bachelorette party. We ended up doing the imprisonment room and it was SO much fun. I will say, it's pretty hard but also there were only 4 of us. However, the best part about going here was our "game master" Scott. Scott is not only welcoming but he is hilarious. From the get go before we even walked towards our room he was making us crack up. He honestly made our entire trip. You could really tell he loves his job. Luckily here they give unlimited hints and don't take time away per hint, we loved talking to Scott throughout the game even if we weren't asking for hints. At one point we got really stumped and were a bit too prideful to ask for even more hints, so Scott just started handing them out, lol. In this room the hints show up on a TV typed out, but for every hint you could feel his personality shine through. Just the way they were written out made us laugh. We literally could not have made it out without his help, which we are so grateful for. We got out with only 2 minutes to spare! (I can't fail, I aim for perfection lol). We have named Scott as an honorary bridesmaid because he was definitely on our team and just a great asset to have. WE LOVE YOU SCOTT!!!

Escape Room 831 was a great experience as an escape room enthusiast! Coming to Monterey to enjoy the cooler weather while we escaped Sacramento was great. Finding this room made it even better! Our game master was amazing! Really into the theme. He also was super helpful when we needed a hint. The place was clean and the space is nicely decorated. The room was determined as a medium/hard room and my friends and I escaped with 12 mins left. I really want to come back and experience the other rooms as well! When booking make sure to book ahead, there was only one time slot left for the room when we booked. BE AWARE: there are THREE locations for Escape Room 831! So when selecting. Make sure you pick the right one! Each location has different rooms too!

This was wonderful! We did the Alice in Wonderland room and I was blown away by the detail and fun all the puzzles are. Some are harder than others but all of them are solvable. Our game master was great too!

This place was great! Loved that we could walk in, choose from SEVERAL rooms and be in the escape room within an hour! The staff was friendly, the room was of medium challenge level but well maintained and creative. It was the first time I have been handcuffed in an escape room! ? Highly recommend!

The good: We did Alice. We had a group of 6. Susie was an amazing taskmaster/game master. The facility was clean. Bathrooms were clean and easily accessible. The puzzles were thought provoking but not overwhelming. We finished with 10 minutes to spare. I truly hope that I have another opportunity to go back and try another room. Oh!! And there was ample parking (both generous street parking but also in the back of the building). The bad: honestly nothing. It was a great experience. To consider: with our group of 6- it was about $30 per person.

All very professional, and clearly loved their jobs there. Highly highly recommend this place for first timers and enthusiasts alike!

I went with my friend and our game master, Birdie was amazing to have as our guide. She was very intrigal and extremely helpful to what was an AMAZING escape room experience. Escape Room 831 doesn’t hold back with their state of the art escape rooms. Chimes, and sounds to help with clues, fantastic puzzles (which I’ll get into more in a second). Automated locks and stuff that opens through magnetic interfacing. Having Birdie help us navigate was great as well. Even though it was the end of the day and she was probably wiped out, she didn’t seem to show it all. We weren’t rushed, she would help us only when we needed/wanted it. The game felt like we were really in an actual Escape Room. I love a great puzzle; I find them addictive. We chose the Alice in Wonderland puzzle and it was more than I could of expected. Very intricate but not “too hard” to get frustrating. From the decor down to the keys, was very well setup and the length of the game and puzzles is well worth the price. I commend Escape Room 831 and our Game Master Birdie, for giving me and my friend an experience we will never forget. (We also plan on returning to try a different room!) So, if you’re a fan of escape rooms, do NOT pass up this place, it’s insanely state of the art! If you are looking for something fun to do? Again… you will not be disappointed!

Ok, where to start?!? We decided to do a last minute Escape room for my teen son's birthday. Most of them were all booked. We decided to book the 'Mystical Manor'. Our first time doing an escape room, so I was a bit nervous because it was deemed more difficult then the beginner one. My husband had a hard time parking but the manager or owner was so nice. He had the rest of us wait in the large sitting area, complete with tic-tac-toe and connect four. He offered to let us park at their sister property, but my husband was finally able to get a spot. I know that they need to stay on schedule but he never rushed us or made us feel bad for not all being there at the same time. The guide was so sweet and explained the game to us. My son opted not to be given clues at all. He loves puzzles and this is right up his alley. The guide mentioned that likelihood of escaping were slim. He still wanted that challenge. What an awesome experience we had. We were able to escape with no clues and had 20 minutes to spare. There were four of us. My husband and two sons. We had a great time working together to solve the puzzles. Was it super easy? No. Was it super hard? No, but it challenged us, even my son who loves this type of stuff. Anyway, we're so glad we finally tried it. We can't wait to go back! Thanks to the team at Oscar's playground.
