I am confused by the bad reviews... I am a foodie, due to very picky palate. Having been to some of the best Sushi around, this place is definitely on top tier. Better than any Nobu period.Don't get the price issue- sushi is sushi. This place is same as any other restaurant in this class. Never heard of discount sushi unless you're willing to risk your digestive tracts by eating from an unskilled chef. These are live fish & only the best chef can see the parasites that maybe present. Its cheaper than LA but better than some at same price. This chef has some wonderful signature dishes & I've had nothing but thanks when I've referred my friends here. It's kind of telling the 2 recent bad ones are from Chinese reviewers...

We've been coming here for years and for me it's the best sushi place in Southern California hands down. The Grapefruit Special is a work of genius - we always get one for each of us - and all the sushi is fabulously fresh. Equally impressive, though, are the perfectly done hot and cold dishes, including the beef tataki, the cold beef Shabu Shabu, and a perfect unagi don. Yes the prices are high - but we are talking about superb quality and artistry, which to me is more than worth it. It's a thrill to eat here!

When I first saw this sushi restaurant I was a little skeptical, especially since I was the shift leader at a very respectable sushi restaurant in the past. I have to tell you I was very impressed with the entirety of this buisness. The sushi was so fresh and cut just right. The appetizers were to die for...and the customer service was fantastic.

Warm welcoming vibe from Father, daughter, and staff. Top tier quality product and consistency spanning just short of four decades. This man has been making sushi since before it was commonly revered in our western culture. Word is we have one year left before he retires. I plan to return asap.

The best sushi anywhere. Everywhere we go we try the sushi. And none better or fresher than Kiyos. Been going there for more than twenty years now. Thank you Kiyo

Lauri Bono... Kal David and I started going to Kiyosaku in the 80s, before we moved to Palm Springs, when it was on North Palm Cyn.. it was our favorite PS restaurant. The amazing food, ambiance and beautiful, welcoming Teruka... so it’s been about 35 years and they are still the best!! We have the utmost love and admiration for Chef Kiyo and Teruka,, it’s time for chef’s grapefruit special!!!

After a long afternoon of chores around the house, I opted for something close by and really delicious. Sushi was on my mind and in my heart so I just had to pop in to Kiyosaku and get a bowl of chef Kiyo's Tai Ankake and a combo plate of Sashimi. The flavors are superb and the seafood is the freshest in the Desert. Highly recommend you try his deep fried sushi grade Calamari or his secret recipe cured Octopus. It will melt away in your mouth. If you want high grade Japanese Cuisine, this is the place.

We have been going here for 20 years and we are the "young" customers. Others have been coming for 39 years. That speaks to the quality of the the sushi, the mastery of Kiyo, and the incredible experience we have every time we go. Incredible sushi and his soups with are the bomb.

Best sushi by far! Sushi Chef Kiyo is so talented and creative. Keeping things traditional this is not a all you can eat type of place. For a true lover of fresh fish.

Best sushi in the Palm Springs area. Everything is fresh, traditional, and AMAZING! A super friendly family ran restaurant in the desert. A must stop when we come to Palm Springs.

My friend invited me to dinner tonight at Kiyosaku and I had to sing my praises! This quaint little old-world Japanese restaurant was absolutely to die for.... from Kiyo, the adorable Master Chef to his mouth-watering edible art. Each slice of the freshest fish I would never have believed I could ever find in the desert is perfection and absolutely melts in your mouth. I cannot wait to go back and try his signature Grapefruit Special!

I have to have my authentic Japanese Kiyosaku fix every time I go to Palm Springs. No chef does it better than Kiyo. Fresh, fresh, fresh! His Grapefruit dish is delicious and his sushi portions are extremely generous. Kiyo's place is my home away from home!
