RIP... been here when it first opened. Great lunch special as you could get a delicious meal for $9 a person (including iced coffee!) Our group had many enjoyable lunches here. Owner and servers (Mandy, especially!) were great. It was also one of the few places that served Taiwanese specialties like oyster omelet. With the change in economy (and servers and chefs), the service and food deteriorated, and 168 finally met its end. Good bye, you will be missed.

Update: After closing, reopening by the owner's relative, and closing again, this restaurant will be reformatted by another existing mall restaurant. Stay tuned!

Pretty good for Taiwanese dishes. But it’s also pretty pricey! ;(

Closed again. There's butcher paper up in the windows and a sign saying that a fusion hot pot place is coming soon. Oh well. I never RESPECTED their food, but I always kind of liked it.

Jesus Christ the food here was absolutely disgusting, bland, and just straight up nasty. We ordered around 6 dishes to share and literally there was not one dish that was half decent. I've been eating at hole in the wall Chinese restaurants my whole life and this one is truly one of the worst... don't make the same mistake I did, stay away

I love this spot. Good Taiwanese, no nonsense or pretense, and attentive service

They said they were closed for remodeling but seems like nothing changed. My theory is that they just closed down to do a deep clean so they won't be shut down again by the health dept. Same owners but brand new wait staff. Both were very friendly and the female staff even tried to play with my son and comfort him. The old man is still there to make drinks and two sisters (could be NOT related) are running the cash register. One is very nice and the other has some attitude and you can clearly tell which one by just looking at them. No kidding. Dishes still taste good, very authentic. Definitely order the items from their taiwanese section. We will be back for sure.

Food is ok, but a bit overpriced compared to other places in the shopping center. Also, they don't have anyone that speaks good English, so very often, they get some mistakes in orders that i place over the phone, or they just hang up if they dont understand what you are saying. I have no problem with people speaking a native language, but would definitely be a much better experience if they had at least one fluent English speaker.

After being closed for months they have finally reopened. Portion size is huge again and as always the food is delicious especially their Kung Pao chicken. So glad they reopened. Another Yelper commented that it was under new ownership. This is false. It's still owned and run by the same family. Like to add that they are now closed on Tuesday as I found that out today.
168 Restaurant just re-open on 2/18 with new management (owner). All dishes are clean, delicious and much more food in each plate. I and my family enjoyed green onion cake, shanghai chow mein, stir fried string bean & mustard green, orange chicken, bamboo pork, pot stickers,Taiwan style fried rice noddle and shrimp rolls very much. Forced to closed by contra costa county environmental health division . With all these years that I had been a loyal customer, what a disgrace.

Sadly, 168 has closed. I loved this place. Friendly people, good food, open late. I think they were here since the 99 Ranch mall was opened in 1999. My best wishes to the employees and owners of 168.

Sad to learn of this restaurants' closing today. The food was pretty good though a tad expensive.

It is officially closed. Very sad, been coming here for the last 15 years. Not sure why? It was so sudden
