This restaurant is a gem. If you sit by a window in the bar or dining area, you'll have an lovely view of the Bay at the Richmond Marina. A convivial atmosphere. The owner, Lara, is usually present, and may sing an aria if she stops at your table. A mostly Italian menu, the food is always great. In addition to crab Louis, I had one of the best cooked T-bone steaks I've ever tasted.

I came here on a Saturday evening around 5pm. We were seated immediately with a window view. To start we got crab cakes. It was so delicious, and sadly you only get two ?. I highly recommend this appetizer. For entrees, I got a lobster & shrimp risotto dish. The whole dish lacked flavor and I don't recommend this dish at all. My boyfriend got a bacon wrapped filet migon. It was very good! Even the vegetables were delicious. To end dinner, we shared a caramel cheesecake. This was divine! As for the service, I wasn't really impressed. The server wasn't attentive and we waited a long time just to get the check. The rest of the staff was very friendly. There was live music and it was an overall beautiful ambiance. I would definitely come back to try this place again.

I went here with a reservation and was greeted and seated immediately. It was a very nice atmosphere, and the location looks like it was a large home built in the early 1900s. The food was decent but was nothing special. The prices are reasonable and in line with what you expect. My issue was with the service. We didn’t have a waiter, instead the bartender was the waiter (we weren’t seated at the bar). He was nice but it took too long to receive attention when we were ready to order, ready to get desert, ready to pay, and didn’t check in with us at all once. That was unfortunate, and I don’t blame him, but it soured our dining experience. The desert cart was really cute. I wouldn’t go there again by choice, unfortunately.

I came here with a large group of women. There was plenty of free parking in the free parking lot. This place is one of Richmond's hidden jewels. It's situated right on the marina bay for fantastic views on non cloudy days. The friendly hostess seated us right away. The wait staff was very responsive to our needs. Each order was taken with patience and care. I had the corn chowder as an appetizer, the shrimp omlete that was served with potatoes and freshly cut fruit as my main entree, then the cheesecake for dessert packed to go. Everything was delicious. The white linen tablecloths, napkins, and fine china set against the view of the bay gave a more formal ambiance. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked. Will definitely be back to try more entrees on the menu. Highly recommend for groups, events, or datenight.

A friend and I met here for lunch yesterday. We hadn't seen each other for several years, so we had a lot of catching up to do. Neither of us had been to Lara's or Marina Bay, but we loved its location as it was convenient for both of us. What a wonderful little gem! We both ordered the fish and chips. The fish was coated in a breadcrumb coating which was a nice change from the typical batter. Service was friendly but not intrusive. We talked for quite awhile yet at no point were we pressured to pay the bill and leave, they just let us talk and talk and talk! I bet this is a popular spot to watch the sunset. I won't hesitate to return next time I'm in the area.

The first time we went here, I thought it was a one off, but we waited almost an hour and didn't get service. I asked a few people that walked by and they would say someone is coming. I was pregnant, starving and pretty much ignored. This was probably two years ago.We went back recently. The experience was the same. We sat waiting. We waited 15 minutes and noone came to our table, servers looked at us and walked away. Not even to get us drinks. We left. The service here is so poor that I don't understand the hype. I've had the food and it's okay.I know several people have left good reviews but unfortunately I would never recommend anyone coming here.

Came here with some coworkers in December. I enjoyed the lasagna that I ordered. It was sooo good. The portion size is very good, I had leftovers. My coworkers said they also enjoyed their food. The service was good. Beautiful restaurant and relaxing atmosphere by the water.

A wonderful and very reasonably-priced venue for a private event. There are several rooms that can be reserved for your group. Our 18-person birthday party was done exactly as we had requested and we had lots of special requests. Karina, the catering manager, was great to work with before the event, and the team on-site the evening of the event provided great service. Lara herself even showed up which was a lovely and welcome surprise. We were so pleased with how our friend's 80th birthday was celebrated!
