Ciccia Osteria is a gem of authentic Italian cuisine in the heart of Barrio Logan. The chefs, Mario and Francesca, use recipes from Northern Italy and pair them with exquisite wines. They even bake their own panettone, a traditional Christmas cake. The restaurant has a cozy and charming atmosphere, with food made with love. However, parking can be tricky, so I recommend taking an Uber. They accept walk-ins, but make sure to dress warmly in winter, as they only have patio dining. The menu has a variety of dishes to suit every taste, but my personal favorite is the mushroom flan. It is creamy, savory, and simply delicious. I also enjoyed the milanese veal, which was tender and crispy. The smoky old-fashioned cocktail and the roccotta olive oil spread for the fresh bread were also amazing. And of course, I could not resist their lasagne, which was rich and satisfying.Ciccia Osteria is my new go-to place for Italian food in San Diego. I can’t wait to go back and try more of their dishes. If you are looking for a genuine and delightful Italian experience, you should definitely check it out.Ciccia Osteria has earned a Bib Gourmand designation from the Michelin Guide. This means that it offers good quality and good value cooking, which is rare to find these days.Parking: Take an UberWheelchair accessibility: Ease first floor.

I've been to Ciccia a few times before and they have kept their food quality and service too notch! It might be surprising that such a good Italian restaurant would be hidden in the Barrio Logan neighborhood, but I guess that's what makes them a hidden gem. Ciccia is fronted by a sizable covered front patio dining area, giving off garden vibes. The restaurant has a fantastic selection of house-made pastas, some common favorites and also some that quite unique. For appetizers, we ordered the Tuna Tartare and Fritto Misto. The tartare was fresh and refreshing, with an Italian flair. The fritto misto consisted of calamari, shrimp, sea bass was perfectly lightly battered. We were craving pasta, so we ordered the Unriaca, a red wine infused gemelli pasta with sausage. We also ordered the spaghetti Frutti di Mare, which is one of my favorite pasta dishes. We also ordered the special pasta dish: Gnocchiette with braised lamb Ragù. As well as the Branzino. The pasta were all delicious and had the perfect bite - not overly al dente or over cooked. The Branzino was fresh and bone free. The must have dessert is their Habanero & Apricot Ricotta Cheesecake. It's light but hits the spot! Our friends visiting from L.A. were quite moved by the delicious dishes and dessert. This visit, we ended our meal with shots of their Chamomile Grappa. It's a must try! I can't want to go back for another meal.

They had a separate Vegan menu and their pasta was absolutely fresh.Tiramisu was one of the best I’ve ever had!Parking is a problem and although there is street packing around the restaurant there’s no guarantee you’ll find a spot.

Wow, what a phenomenal find! Everything at this bistro in the barrio was superb. The house made focaccia was served with a delicious spread of creamy butter with olive oil and balsamic vinegar with orange peel. It was truly delightful. The mushroom flan was out of this world. It was light with a delicious, creamy mushroom filling and parmesan crust on the outside. Pairs well with the vermentino. The bottoli pasta with peas and prosciutto in a rich Parmesan sauce was truly decadent. The restaurant features a large comfortable patio and cozy interior. A vegan menu is available. Small but intelligent wine list available. Service was very good. Can't wait to come back.Vegetarian options: There is a vegan menu with many options for appetizer, salad and entree.Parking: It can be difficult to find parking. Rideshare might be the best bet.

Great place to catch up with friends, date night, or want to try a new meal with the family! And if you’re gluten free LIKE ME, then you’re in for such a delicious treat from beginning to end! This is the first time that I have been at an Italian restaurant where the gluten free (gf) options taste just as good as the non-gf foods! I had an appetizer, entree, sides, and dessert ALL GLUTEN FREE! And I didn’t get some random pitiful gluten free pasta, I GOT GLUTEN FREE RAVIOLI STUFFED WITH MUSHROOMS MMMM! WOW WOW WOW! I felt so special like everything was made for me! And it’s soooo challenging to find an Italian Gluten Free friendly restaurant! I felt embraced with every bite and not judged for trying to fight belly bloating (that’s why I try to eat gluten free because I get super bloated and feel sick if I don’t!). So, THIS PLACE IS WORTH EVERY penny and they’ve got very reasonable prices! because everything is delicious! My non-gf friends were also very pleased with their choices! We shared decadent desserts (yes plural gf and non-gf HIGHLY RECOMMEND!)! Also: Just for reference, yes there’s a clean restroom for customers and, while the street parking is free, it can be a challenge to find so come early! Everyone is very friendly here! Here’s what I ate and LOVE all of it!Please check out my pictures!Appetizer:Mushroom Flan - don’t knock it until you try it! There’s no visual mushrooms but it’s a rich flan that you can spread on your bread mmm and it’s all gluten free!Special menu item: Stuffed Zucchini Squash and yes the batter is gluten free!!!!Entree:Gluten Free RavioliSAUCE: parmesan sauce / greenpeas / prosciuttoSides: ROASTED POTATOES gluten freeeeee and top it with Parmesan oh-em-geeeee! Has a hearty bite and fluffy on the inside!Dessert:Panna Cota - mmm GLUTEN FREERICOTTA CAKE with and apricot habanero sauce - not gluten free BUT A MUST! SOO yummy!PS I loved the dessert menu because it was taped onto an old Italian biscuit cookie tin like you’d find at a grandmas house with a sewing kit instead of biscuit cookies LOL

Had such a great time with a few friends; the food was amazing and we got to eat upstairs in this private little room. Our waitress was so much fun and provided excellent service- the owners came in and said hello. It felt good to be at a family owned and operated restaurant. 10/10 thank you!

First time coming here and this spot is amazing! Me and my boyfriend came to visit last weekend from Colorado and this restaurant happened to be close to our airbnb so we decided to give it a try. We called ahead to make sure we could get in fast but when we got there they sat us immediately. We sat on the patio and the vibe was amazing and the service was impeccable. We even got greeted by the manager to make sure everything was going smoothly. The server gave us great recommendations and the food was so authentic. I had the carbonara and let me tell you, it was the best carbonara I had ever had. I will definitely be coming back here the next time I’m in San Diego. This was the best dining experience that I have had in years!

The food and wine is outstanding. I'd never been to Bario Logan before and didn't expect such a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The same meal in the Gaslamp would be at least 2x. Try it!

This place is such an absolute gem. And the host/server was amazing. He would offer his opinions on what was good to order, and then add, "and if you don't like it, send it back and I'll eat it". LOVE. A really amazing place. I got the seared filet, gf got saffron stuffed ravioli with ossobucco sauce. Prosciutto and pineapple appetizer. And the panettone for dessert, which apparently takes 3 days to make. Everything was perfect and a really nice date spot. Really good food for the $.

Friendly service. Lovely ambiance. Great food!My only constructive comment would be that tables are rather small. And the group I was with and myself, 4 total, like to order several dishes to try as much of the menu as we can. More space for more deliciousness! Will definitely go back to try more 10/10Thank you for having us!
