The family that owns George’s are amazing. Just the nicest most genuine people you could meet. Everyone that works there is very friendly and promptly take your order. The sandwiches are so delicious. They have a nice selection of beverages, snacks, wine and beer. Never disappointed!

Delicious sandwiches to-go that are super reasonably priced for SF. About $9 for a quality sandwich 4 blocks from the ocean. Hard to beat! Great vibes here. I got the Lil Puffer on a Dutch Crunch, would recommend!

My kids were visiting the zoo and decided to get something to eat after. They called me for a suggestion. Go across from the zoo corner grocery store you won't regret. They text me an hour later thanking me. 2 adults 2 children they all liked it. Friendliness and prompt service.

Now I love me a good sandwich! This is such a cute little mom-and-pop deli shop to stop by for coffee, sandwiches, snacks, pastries, liquor, etc. The owners are so sweet and friendly! My boyfriend and I stopped by here before going to the San Francisco Zoo (PSA: you are allowed to bring in food and water into the zoo)! Now I've been seeing people hype over the Dutch crutch bread because as stated in the name, not only is it visually crispy but the texture is as well. I got the Lion House sandwich which is roast beef, swiss avocado, with Dutch crutch bread. I enjoyed my sandwich but thought a tangy mustard sauce would pair well with it. However, it was super satisfying to eat because I was so hungry before the zoo. We also got their hot vanilla latte which my boyfriend really enjoyed. I thought it tasted like any other vanilla latte I've had but it was still good since it was a gloomy and chilly day in San Fran. I absolutely recommend stopping by here if you visit SF and want something quick to eat. I would come back here to try the other sandwiches :)

We were adventuring in the city and was looking for a (healthy) place to eat on our way to Ocean Beach. We spotted this unassuming hole-in-the-wall and thought they might be a convenience corner market with some simple pre-packaged sandwiches and turned a hard right. Luckily we found street parking right outside of here and my husband ran in to grab sandwiches while I waited in the car with the kids. But it turns out they make sandwiches inside the store in an actual deli section. So my husband orders a veggie sandwich, he gets me a "whatever looks good", and the kiddo a grilled cheese. He's chatting with the staff (2 women) and when he comes back into the car with the sandwiches, he believes we stumbled on a hole-in-the-wall gem. He mentions that the sandwich-maker asked him about our kiddo and then made a special grilled cheese with a blend of different cheeses. He starts eating his sandwich as we're parked in the car and really likes it. I reach over to the backseat and give the kiddo his sandwich and help him unwrap it while but kiddo decides right after I give it to him he doesn't want to eat it. So I grab his fancy grilled cheese from his lap and as I'm re-wrapping it andI find a small eyelash-like hair in the cheese. Groan. So I go into the store less than a minute after husband had come out. After waiting for one of the workers' attention and for people in front of me to be rung up, she recognizes the grilled cheese sandwich and spots the hair. She apologizes and says they'll make a new one right now and that its not a problem. I wait as I look around the store and overhear the conversations, it seems like a favorite spot of the neighborhood and locally owned.A few minutes later, she gets my attention and apologizes again about the hair and shows me the new sandwich. No worries, it happens. Then she puts the cash in the amount of the sandwich with it and passes all of it over to me (since my husband had paid for our sandwiches in cash) saying that it was an additional apology for what had just happened. I was dumbfounded as this is probably a mom-and-pop little deli. I was expecting just a new sandwich. I don't remember even saying anything as I walked out the store and back to the car, just staring straight ahead processing what just happened. I climb back into the car and my husband asks if I'm ok and I hold the cash in one hand and explain everything that just happened. Then my husband told me that he had also tipped the 2 workers while originally waiting for our food in the same amount (we're pretty sure they aren't the owners) so we think they used the tip money to pay for the sandwich instead.I finally got to eat my sandwich and it was yummy too. I don't remember what it was because this whole experience is all I can remember now.
