There aren’t many Lao restaurants in San Jose, if any. I am very glad that they opened here in San Jose because I need my papaya salad & sticky rice fix!!

I miss Lao food so much and I had been wanting to try this place. It did not disappoint! The sticky rice, sausage and chicken wings with the papaya salad on the side exceeded my expectations. And they have goods to buy and take home including Jeow Bong

My first time eating Laotian food and it was delicious. Very satisfying! Chicken was very delicious, the sausage had new flavors for me and also very good. The papaya was wonderful! I had mine spicy, and it was so good and light on my stomach. If you haven't tried Laotian food I would start here.

Wonderful Laotian spot. So glad we have this in San Jose. Small menu, but all items are done very well. We especially enjoy the Lao papaya salad and the rice ball salad. If you’re sensitive to spice, their mild has a kick. Go no spice if you cannot take any heat.

WOW is all I can say!!!! I ordered this restaurant through Doordash because I couldn't stop thinking about papaya salad & fried chicken. When ordering on doordash you can't choose the level of spice you want your papaya salad so I made a quick phone call and the lady who picked up said she will make the papaya salad super spicy. The fried chicken was fried to perfection and it wasn't overly dry or anything. I also got the spicy lao sausage to try and it was amazing. I'm Cambodian so I usually love Cambodian sausage but Laos sausage is slowly becoming my favorite. To drink I got a Thai tea and it was a perfect amount of sweetness. I'm so glad this restaurant exists because the only place I know to get food like this is an hour away. Cant wait to come back!

-this place is super small and cute. Very clean! -Parking was horrible! Parking was super busy and annoying. -FoodKapoon was super bland and just not good! I took two bites of it and added a bunch of stuff it to make it tastier but man! It was just to bland and nothing was working so I trashed it! It was pretty pricey too! Super disappointed.-papaya was ok. Not the best but not trash-service was eh! Could be better and more welcoming. -prices were kinda on the higher side. Not sure why because it wasn't worth it. -super disappointed in this place. Will not return

Drove out of the way to just come here since our city back home doesn’t have any Lao food. Everything was so good! Definitely recommend.

Food was good/decent, service was ok and the atmosphere was horrible . Not very attentive . We're tourist, traveling for a day trip, so had to eat the food there . It was extremely hot . No fan or ac . My kids , husband and I were all sweating so much we couldn't wait to get out back to our car . Ended up packing most of our food back .

Had to come here again!! I was left with a very positive experience the first time, so they have definitely gained a loyal customer. I also wanted to share my food with my dog and my boyfriend virtually, he lives in LA so I spoiled him with all the beautiful delicious pictures. I'm sure he appreciated it and definitely wasn't jealous. The service was great as usual, no complaints, and they even remembered me from last time, and from my last yelp review, which was nice of them! She also remembered me because I told her last time that I was very hungry and she took care of me right away. Walking into the restaurant brings me back to home; clean, nice and smells like YUMMY COOKED CHICKEN.

The flavors of their laab gai, nam khai, and signature Lao-style papaya salad were absolutely delightful. Each dish was packed with authentic Lao flavors, and the combination of ingredients created a memorable dining experience. The laab gai had a perfect balance of spice and tanginess, while the nam khai showcased a unique blend of textures. The star of the show, the Lao-style papaya salad, truly lived up to its reputation. The freshness of the papaya combined with the vibrant mix of flavors made it a standout dish. Overall, Famous Lao Papaya is a must-visit for anyone looking to savor authentic Lao cuisine that leaves a lasting impression.

This place get a 4.5 star. I LOVE LAO food. The spice, aromatics and the flavors. This is the only Lao restaurant in the South Bay and it's very good. The Laab, Papaya Salad, Chicken wings, Lao sausage and sticky rice is fire. I've also had their Khao Poon Noodle soup which I also love. If you're not into spicy food, I would request for mild because it will still have a kick. The best bet is to get the platter so you try a little bit of everything. Service and ambience is very casual. You order it from the cashier, pick up your food and clean up after you're done.

So this place is the quaint little asian shopping center next to the Target on Silver Creek. The parking can be a little "hairy" for lack of the better word..so stay vigilant..lol! This place was a little hard to find because their marquee above their front door is kind of covered by the large full tree in front of their establishment. Just know they are the furthest back part of the shopping center if you are entering from Silver Creek. They are in the middle of the row of stores. We came on a Monday. Restaurant has minimal seating but it was light and airy in aesthetics but was super warm inside. They had the front door open but it was a hot day and was just starting to cool down so the inside of the place was warm. Didn't feel like the air was on and there were no fans. I hope that was just for that day. Anyway, was greeted by a very cheerful smiling gentleman behind the counter. Their overhead menu comes with great photos and brief descriptions. I had already looked at the Yelp reviews and photos and knew what I was ordering. I ordered:1. Fried Chicken Plate: which came with 3 whole chicken wings, rice and a small side of papaya salad (you choose preferred heat). My husband was content. I did snag his papaya salad though because its one of my faves! $14.502. Famous Papaya Salad Platter: which comes with a large side of papaya salad, I chose sticky rice, 2 boiled eggs, chicharron, chopped cabbage, 2 Lao sausages (you choose preferred heat), 2 whole fried wings. $28 and feeds 2-3 people. 3. I also ordered a Thai iced tea and it was delicious. They also had a wall dedicated to refrigerated items you could take home, like sausage, sauces, etc. They had a couple racks dedicated to various flavors of potato chips only found in asian so I had to pick up a handful of those for the boys and I to try. They also had bankerd (chili chips). All in all everything was delicious. I know where to stop by when I am craving some papaya salad!
