We ordered the Nashville heat and spent $27 on our food. It was so stinking hot we couldn't eat it and I can eat anything spicy. The Mac and cheese was mush. Everything went in the trash. What a waste.

My husband loves this place! and we just found out his place is closed :(

For anyone wondering, this location has closed but they're not completely gone from the world. This was a sort of test drive, and they found the food court location may not work as well for them as physical stand-alone locations. So, they are going to have one location in Las Vegas and two locations in Texas. Yeah, my boyfriend loves this place so much we even talked to the owners right before they left and got all the hot gossip. They gave us a discount for our last meal there, which was very kind. My boyfriend's family laments the loss of their dinner, and will likely starve to death from here onwards. Ah, and I finally tried the sandwiches I was so reluctant to try on account of hating fried chicken, and they were ACTUALLY GOOD. KILL ME NOW.

Saw all the awesome reviews and decided to try. Now the chicken is very tender and flavorful. They don't pre make things so they don't become chewy like other places. The flavors are awesome. Nice kick to them and the mix is excellent. I would definitely try them again enjoyed this meal.

There's a place in LA called HOWLIN' RAY'S. They do southern fried chicken sandwiches that are served with super spicy heat. I've had it bookmarked for a while, but while I'm waiting for a trip to LA to materialize, I found RtR whose chicken sandwich looks a lot like the chicken sandwich at HOWLIN' RAY'S. First time was tonite. Located in the Westgate Mall food court. All I had was the: NASHVILLE HOT CHICKEN SANDWICH (4/5) I loved it. You can order your level of heat. I got the "extra hot" but I could've gone "extreme" which was the highest. Extra hot was comfortable so I might do the extreme next time. The chicken was pretty thick and nicely breaded. There was some red sauce, slaw and pickles on the sandwich. I basically inhaled the sandwich. I think it beats Chik Fil-A but my daughter disagrees - but she's so loyal to Chik Fil-A, she will probably never choose any chicken sandwich over them. I wouldn't take the sandwich to go - because it will go soggy with the slaw on it. Eat it there. It almost got soggy on me and I ate it in about 2 minutes. I tasted some waffle fries and they were ...waffle fries. Nothing special. They have chicken tenders on the menu too which look pretty good in the pictures. You can get them with the spicy sauce. Next time for sure. Would I go back for the sandwich? Yes, I would. Am I a fan? Yes, I am. Do I still feel the need to travel to LA to try HOWLIN' RAY'S Nashville Hot? Oh, yes I do!

Fried Chicken.?!? Yes, please! A different type of fried chicken is in town and I must say it could be addicting. If you like Chick-Fil-A you'll like Rule The Roots. It's basically the spicer version. The chicken tenders here is pretty dang huge. #11 3 piece filled me up. Their lemonade it's a bit too sweet for my tastes. However, the chicken was juicy and crispy on the outside and by the time I brought it home my box was a tad greasy. Aside from that the chicken was delicious. First bite it doesn't taste spicy. Just wait the spiciness will creep up kick you in face in a few seconds. Something about their seasoning its definitely Crack and I dig it. I came here twice back to back days. As you can tell I was quite fond of their chicken I had to go back the next day. When ordering you get to choose the spice level of your chicken and your dipping sauces and of courses I select "Extreme Heat" and dipped it in Buffalo sauce. They also gave threw in a few extra sauces for me to try. The house sauce is basically their version of 1000 island. This place is worth a try if your a fan of fried chicken with a kick.

Let me preface this review by saying that I believe there's no such thing as too many fried chicken options. I always welcome chicken shops and the valuable contribution they make to any community (and my arteries). Rule the Roost's chicken tenders and strawberry lemonade (made with honey) are delicious. Even though I opted for honey mustard dipping sauce (theirs is Ken's Steak House brand), the cashier threw in a house dipping sauce to try (good move, as I am a convert). The mac n' cheese tastes exactly like Safeway's - so I probably should have tried the fries. Definitely worth checking out!

This place is so damn good, and not that many people know about it so check it out before it gets popular! My boyfriend ordered the dark meat combo, I didn't try it, but he said the meat fell right off the bone! So juicy and tender...the skin was the best part! I ordered the 3 piece tender with waffle fries. Their fries are crispy, the chicken is amazing, biscuits are sweet, some of the best mac n cheese we've had in a while (creamy and not too cheesy)! Now, I have a sensitive spice palette so the nashville spice was really hot for me. However, my bf does not have a sensitive spice palette and he was sweating while taking down the chicken! It's pricy, the wait was long for three meals but it's good quality and def worth it!

The taste of the chicken was excellent, but they have some problems. Rule The Roost is a new (January 2019) eatery in a food court of Westgate Mall. They offer the chicken with no spices and 3 or 4 degrees of spiciness and I like having those options. I tried "Nashville," the lowest spicy level and the chicken was excellent. That said, it is fried so it is not the healthiest of meals. My meal included 2 pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes (they offer serval choices of sides), a biscuit, and drink for $11.49 + tax. Wait time was 20 minutes but the chicken was fresh and cooked to my order, not pre-cooked. So the customer must be patient, but it is worth the wait. Rule The Roost has several problems that annoyed me: 1) They gave me the soft drink in ice soon as they took the order, so the ice melted and diluted the taste; they should have asked if I wanted it immediately or with the meal. 2) I ordered the meal to eat there, but they handed me a sack with the food inside; I had to open the boxed container for the chicken and for the potatoes; that was silly - it should have been handed to me ready to eat. 3) The container with the chicken was damp with liquid from the cooking oil. 4) The thigh and leg were attached; they should have cut it for me since all they gave were flimsy plastic utensils that make it very difficult to cut and separate the leg and thigh. Will this business survive? That is unclear to me.

After binge watching fast food videos on YouTube, I was craving a fried chicken sandwich. Thirty minutes of yelp searching later, I found this place and I'm so glad I did! I usually dismiss mall food court restaurants (this is at the Westgate center) but I'm so glad I have this one a chance. I ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich meal which comes with waffle fries and a drink. The Nashville hot is HOT in a good way, and you can order it even hotter if you dare. The chicken is super juicy and the coleslaw, pickles and spicy mayo are the perfect combo. I loved the fries as well, which were really crispy and salted perfectly. Can't wait to come back here!
Every time I come back, there's alway amazing service and to accompany that, amazing food. My favorite chicken sandwich spot to date and close to home! My favorite is the #2, Simply Country. Basic as can be sandwich, not spicy. The chicken breast is always huge. Great bun ratio. The waffle fries are the best, salted perfectly. Want a nice chicken sandwich for lunch, or dinner - then this is the spot for you.

Good stuff! I had to go to Target, and since it was around dinner time, I walked around the area to see what the mall had. I wanted to try somewhere that I hadn't ever eaten before, so I chose Rule the Roost, and I definitely don't have any regrets. First of all, Burt was such a great guy, giving off the southern hospitality vibe to everyone, whether they were just looking or they decided to order. Thank you for such great service. I got the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich, and it was really really good. The chicken was crispy on the outside and super juice on the inside. The bread was soft and had a buttery taste. The sauce was good, the sandwich was piping hot. Liked my experience very much, will go back if I'm in the area

Overall: 4/5 Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Price: 4/5 TLDR; The Chicken tenders were juicy and very flavor. Breading is thin and comes with multiple sauces. It's kind of on the pricey-er side, but I would still come again! ~~~~ Rule of Roost is inside Westgate Mall, across from GongCha. There's plenty of seating in front of the restaurant. I ordered 5 individual pieces of Tenders, Nashville Hot, with RtR sauce (house sauce, similar to thousand island) and Ranch sauce for ($10.49 + Tax). They told me that each tender is about 3 oz, hence the more expensive price. I waited about 3-5 minutes, which was pretty fast. The food comes in a paper box and they give you a paper bag. Probably wouldn't recommend keeping the chicken inside the box overnight, since I did notice grease stains, which would potentially leak. The BREADING is really THIN and SUPER FLAVORFUL. The Nashville favor is pretty spicy, and I normally love eating spicy food. I personally was very satisfied after eating 2 pieces of tenders. I would definitely come back again.

Boy, was I surprised! Let's talk food first. The food was great! Got the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and the Dressed up. Pros: Their chicken is so flavorful and so juicy, but beware, the nashville hot chicken is def spicy! I usually go for mild/medium spice, and this was more than I could handle! Very juicy and full of flavor though, which I loved! Cons: Their buns got soggy very quick, which I didn't like. I also wish they fried their waffle fries for a bit longer, so they're crispier, but that's just my own personal taste! I also had their homemade lemonade, which was awesome! Made with real honey instead of sugar, which is a major plus! Service: So great! They're super considerate and are always checking in to see if you're enjoying your food. The man who helped me at the register was also so nice. He provided great suggestions, and def delivered some of the best customer service I've received in a good while! Will def be coming back to satisfy my FRIED CHICKEN cravings!

Rule The Roost is located inside Westgate Shopping Center in San Jose . I was craving Fried Chicken when I saw this listing on Yelp. I decided to check it out. Westgate was busy, and so was the food court where Rule The Roost was located. I looked over the menu and settled on the Dark Meat Combo with Mashed Potatoes & Gravy. The wait was short, and I soon got my Fried Chicken. I had to circle around the food court a few times to find an open seat. The Chicken was tasty and juicy (but not hot, as I did not get the Nashville Hot Chicken). The sides were good. I will be back to try out more of their menu.
