I've been coming here for the last 7yrs and it's super consistent in their flavor of food. It has the best pho & pork rice plate (not sure the name of it). The meat is super flavorful & bbq'd to perfection. I don't eat at other Vietnamese food places often but when I have tried it never compares to here. Oh & its a moms & pops type of restaurant so if they get busy it can be a lil slow but I'm fine with waiting because I know the quality I'm getting.

Seriously one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in South San Jose! The pho broth is delicious, complex, fragrant without the greasy MSG laden residue from other places. I tried the wonton egg noodle tonight on a whim and it was just as good if, dare I say, better than the pho. And the BBQ pork banh mi is hands down the best! My wife's family has been coming here since the early 2000s [when IBM was still around], and we make it a point to always stop by whenever we're back in town visiting. The owners are very friendly, appreciative, and have always been careful/thoughtful of COVID precautions.

I fully support local and family owned businesses especially during these times. I've been coming to this place for years now. Owners are very friendly and food is great.

We live near Sonny's and this has become one of our go to's when we don't feel like cooking or if we want something simple when we're not feeling too well. The 7 spice chicken is super yummy.

Terrific Vietnamese spot to satisfy cravings in the South Bay. The Banh Mi was awesome! The bread was fresh and crunchy. The barbecue pork sandwich was great, although I miss the liver pate that comes with the traditional banh mi. The tofu banh mi was also an outstanding vegetarian option. The Bun vermicelli noodle with pork and imperial roll was also solid.

I enjoy their Bhan Mi sandwiches and pho. Bhan mi using a freshly baked warm bread hits the spot!

I've been going to Sonny Cafe for 11 plus years, with my family, friends, I and co-workers, my favorite is their BBQ beef, PHO Po Vien, and Wonton soup. both soups are prefect on a gold winter day, even if when I had a cold.

This spot is serving great food while meeting all covid restrictions. They are a small family owned business that always appreciates the support. Their barn mi sandwiches are top notch with the best prices I've seen in San Jose. Highly recommend trying this place out!

A super mom and pop Vietnamese restaurant that serves your more "traditional" breakfast. My colleague and I stopped by here after we finished our meeting in the area. They only take orders by phone for now, but I did have the opportunity to step into the restaurant. Like I said, it has a very mom and pop feel.

I didn't order the Vietnamese dishes this time and instead opted for a breakfast plate. It was just eggs, bacon, a hash brown, and toast. Very reasonably priced at about 7 bucks. It was a solid meal. My colleague got the same order and one of their banh mi. He said he liked both. Overall, I like what I had and will definitely try a Vietnamese dish the next time I'm in the area.

The broken rice plate is hella good. I ordered over the phone to go, and I got the grilled pork, fried shrimp, pork cake and requested a fried egg on top to round out the dish. The food was excellent with the broken rice cooked to perfection. The flavor from the VN fish sauce mixed with sauteed green onions makes the broken rice flavor out of this world delicious.

Home style Vietnamese cooking like I have been hankering for since I lived in SF. It was delish and their egg rolls were the absolute best. Super easy to pick up and owner was lovely (I never went here pre-covid) so cant comment on what it is like to eat in etc.

This review is long over due. I love coming here! I usually will order their Pho when I'm sick (which works wonders!), or when I'm craving Pho. I've tried other places but always come back here for it because it's delicious! I've also ordered BBQ pork with grilled prawns on vermicelli and that too is delicious!! It's also nice that I live close to, so it's my trusted Vietnamese spot! The people are also nice and get the orders out fast. Can't say much but love this place!

Sonny's cafe is open for takeout during the shelter in place. I've ordered takeout a few times, and the food has always been delicious. I recommend customers to call ahead to place your orders. I've tried their chicken salad, spring rolls, imperial egg rolls and banh mi sandwiches. Everything is reasonably priced and all the food was made with fresh ingredients. Overall, I highly recommend Sonny's cafe if you are craving for some authentic Vietnamese food.

I got a bbq pork bahn mi and a pork and noodle plate. It was great. Very nice people running the place. Lots of competition for Vietnamese good but this one is favorite. Fair price food. Can't beat this place
