The breakfast torta sandwich is good here! I had it with bacon. I think with the grilled onions and crispy bacon gives it an extra oomph! My son said the parmesan chicken sandwich is good and refreshing. Will be trying other sandwiches next time.

We have ordered large group orders from here twice now for work. They do a great job at labeling everything with individual names and delivering timely. They also read all the details / modifications for peoples orders, so everyone gets what they want. First time I did a build your own veggie sandwich. Was decent. Second time got hummus and avocado. I swapped out french roll for wheat and added veggie balls. Really good. Avocado was fresh. Veggies great. Veggie balls really good and added a decent amount of protein. Half a sandwich was a full meal for me. Very filling! I will definitely need to try some more sandwiches here =)

I hadn’t been since I was in high school. It tastes just as good as it did back then!

What happened to this place?!? Once a staple in Palo Alto, the cozy interior filled with nostalgic treats, local produce and chocolates and every beverage imaginable now feels like a cold, corporate environment. Staff doesn't know how to use the computer system to place orders and all that remains for patrons to select as add ons are chips and one fridge of Boylan's soda. Now onto the food. The once loved staple of Village Cheesehouse Special Sauce is now nothing less than mayonnaise. I'm assuming by the decor this is under new(er) ownership and all I can say is please take a look at what made this place what it was!

I found this place while at work on a Saturday since I'm on the road all the time it's nice to find a place that is more comfort food. I got the bacon tomato grilled cheese it was so delicious I will be coming back for sure

Slightly disappointed with the price and amount was given in my sandwich. For a first timer I had a lot of expectations since it was expensive. I made my own sandwich. Can never go wrong with Dutch crunch rolls. I added sprouts, lettuce, bbq sauce, house sauce, cucumbers, roast beef. I asked for jalapeí±os on the side, didn't get it. They asked me what cheese, didn't get it. For $12+ with a soda can and chips, not worth it. BUT, service was great. My cashier was sweet and cool to talk to. Minus 2 stars for a bad sandwich and first experience.

i absolutely have to give this place zero stars! first off their sandwiches are horrible, but even worse is their customer service, as in zero people skills! i am an agm at a restaurant, i intend to share this horror story of a place w a good number of our guests! it is very evident that the owner "bernard" doesn't stress the fact that from his manager on down should have good people skills as much as problem solving, i was sworn at, threatened to have the police called cuz i was trying let them know the issue at hand, anyhow im quite sure my points are well taken

I recently was in the deli with intent on buying food. However what I witnessed while I was there was disgraceful. An employee who said she was the manager berated a patron who had a complaint about something that they had purchased earlier in the day that was not what they ordered I would never ever buy from this place based upon the absurd behavior that was witnessed. My company had frequently ordered from here and I will see to it that we NEVER order from here again. The ownership should really take a look at the employees and how they treat people. As a company owner myself, I would never have people like this working for me. To bad you just lost some very loyal business.

I usually like this place but today I ordered a Chicken Parmesan Sandwich and basically I got a plain chicken sandwich, with lettuce. : (

--- A lot's changed but still a good sandwich, no wait --- tl;dr. + great sandwich, super tasty + no wait to order + sandwich made in less than 5m It's been YEARS since I've been back to the Cheese House. So I had to check Yelp to make sure it was still in operation. Was sad to read about sandwiches that weren't as good or service that seemed to take forever even when it wasn't a rush (only a person or two ahead of the reviewer). Still, it's the Cheese House so gotta go. I didn't experience any of those negative experiences. Walked in at 12:30p on a weekday, bracing for high school student rush, but it was empty. Counter guy took my order and was friendly enough. They were out of Dutch Crunch (because of said high school rush) but helped me through ordering a pastrami sandwich. I strolled around while I waited -- it's SO different from when I remembered it. I remember it as this pretty funky store with random things sold. Now, it's much more "go to the counter and order" with some fridges scattered with pre-made items. But 5 minutes later, I realized my sandwich was already made and sitting at pickup. Super fast. And sandwich was high quality. Loved it. Not as good as something like Viking Subs in SF where they toast your sandwich to perfection (have never had a sandwich that beat Vikings) but sans toasting, as good as a sandwich can get. I'll be back! Added plus: parking was surprisingly easy in Town and Country. I figured lunch time, lots of stores, going to have to circle and circle. But people are always coming and leaving so didn't have to circle at all. Still, ymmv.

Sadly, this old Palo Alto tradition has finally put the last nail in their own coffin. I've been going to Cheese House since 1978, but today was the last time. The staff is super unfriendly, the house spread is watery, they now charge an extra 60cents for extra pickles, and the bread was dry. Sigh.

Good variety of sandwiches, salads, breakast sandwiches, pastries and cakes. I splurged on the bacon wrapped meatball sub and loved it. Seating is limited so its best to do take out.

Swung by the ol' cheese house for lunch w the fam. Nice place for a quick, easy lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Grab a seat outside, a fresh sandwich and let the people watching begin. Sandwich ingredients were high quality, which is always so clutch for deli meat. Can you get any more cringe-worthy than cheap deli meat? No. No you cannot. The tomato soup was tasty as well... And all at a rather reasonable price...We'll be back to try another for sure.

Busy at work and I'm starving. I ordered (via DoorDash) a bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and a beet and goat salad with chicken for dinner. As I unwrap the sandwich I see a small dark hair on the top inside part of the sandwich. I proceed to open the other half and there's an even longer hair on that piece. Threw it out, after gagging. Haven't ordered from this place. I'm throwing the salad out, just in case. Yuck.

Ordered the brie apple and raspberry grilled cheese and it was very disappointing. I had maybe 1 or 2 bites of cheese and everything else was apple and raspberry. This shouldn't be called a grilled cheese if there's so little cheese
