The poki Bowl with Yellow tail and cucumber was delightful. My water was refilled a couple of times and the staff was attentive. They kept me informed about the status of my dinner. Yum!

Good sushi, but they charge for sauce and every single time I get it to go they forget my sauce that I paid for.

Sunday July 17 8:45PM Shin’s ‘$h!+’ Sushi! Are you jonesin’ for a night of horrific service, disgusting food and sake slamming chefs macerating your sushi and sashimi order with serrated knives, to the tune of $103.87 not to mention the frustration of an incomplete order, lukewarm “HOT” sake, a dude wait staff that calls females “guys” and who is so unaware of his tables that when a couple leaves after 15 minutes of being ignored and a group of three people walk out the door for the same reason he takes no notice!!! Worse still another couple is seated at the table and NONE of the tableware is replaced with clean glasses or napkins!!! If so, then SHIN’s is definitely the place for you!! UNDOUBTEDLY THE WORST SERVICE and WORST FOOD in SLO if not on the Central Coast. After patiently waiting for 25 minutes for the Sapporo and “HOT” sake that we ordered when we were seated we caught the attention of the male server and asked if our beverages could be brought. The sake was unacceptably lukewarm so we caught the male servers attention again and he took away the undesirable sake and brought a carafe of hot sake. He then nonchalantly turned to the table alongside ours and proceeded to take the order of the four people at that table who had arrived 15 minutes after we entered!!!! My companion brought the incident to male waiter’s attention and he promised to place our order ahead of the other guests. After waiting another interminable period of time and while watching the chefs slam sake we queried about when our order of appetizers might arrive. The appetizers and certain items of the meal were doled out in confusing order. Sadly the teensy weensy rectangle of rice under the shredded nigiri was puke worthy. The rice tasted like it had been cooked and then sat dehydrating in cold storage UNwrapped. We think the gyozo was from the frozen food section of Costco. It was absolutely not traditional gyozo. The nigiri appeared to have been butchered with a serrated knife. As for presentation a barfworthy ZERO for appearance. The sashimi was never delivered until I convinced waiter dude to read the menu and even then he had to verify the order with the “chef”. It was swiftly brought to the table accompanied by bumbled apologies. To add insult to the hour and a half of abysmal service, none of the used table service was cleared, we were NEVER asked how the meal was or if we desired more beverages or a dessert. In fact- the experience was a fiasco of failed service, frustration, and as I write prayers that I don’t wake up in the middle of the night having to t’rup!!! Oh, one last mention, the filthy worn menus should have been a giveaway that we were in for a most unusual experience. The ONE star rating is for the bottled SAPPORO! Superior as always.

I ordered a teriyaki bowl and wow it was a big portion size for me. It comes with miso soup (my favorite) and a cucumber salad which was so good! I also got the fried California rolls, I never had them fried but I prefer them regular. I was stuffed when I left this place and still left with a box of food. If you're coming here make sure you're hungry and ready to eat! The location isn't too bad and neither are the prices. AMAZING customer service, our server Brittany was the best and even recommended us an all time favorite sauce with our sushi and it was so good. We got our food really fast which was great because I was starving. Not quite sure why there are low reviews on this place but for sure they're tripping because this place is 10/10.

The food is AMAZING! Great sushi, one of my favorites in town. However, don't waste your time going inside, it's definitely one of the grossest restaurants I've been to in slo and you get terrible service. Order take out. You won't be disappointed! The prices are also very fair for what you get. Would give 5 stars if I saw an improvement in the waitstaff and cleanliness.

Had dinner tonight with the family . Our server was Sage . I can never have enough words for such an awesome service . These days during and after Covid great customer service is really hard to find. My family were treated with patience for the fact that my girl was not only a picky eater but was allergic to certain sauces . The owner of the restaurant was nice too but it's service from Sage that makes everything just over the top . Anyways thanks again Sage . Thanks for taking the time to talk to our family about life and current events .

Shin's Sushi is a great place to swing by for fast service and decently priced sushi. They have a good amount of vegetarian options on their menu which is great. There's a lot of seating inside and the staff are very attentive. I tried the Veggie Roll and Veggie Tempura Roll. The Veggie Roll was a bit plain for me. I only noticed the romaine lettuce and carrots in it. The Veggie Tempura Roll was great on the other hand. The batter was fresh and the veggies they used inside were very tasty. I visited with a party of six and all of our food came out pretty quickly.

The negative reviews of this place confuse me... THE GOOD: Sam at the sushi bar is da man! Friendly, funny and some free saki made it really special. The quality of the sashimi and nigiri were outstanding. Super fresh and expertly prepared. We also had a few rolls and really appreciated the amount of rice they used to wrap them (e.g. not too much like other places). The prices were also a pleasant surprise, it was about 30% less expensive (and 100% less rude service) than Goshi. THE BAD: the interior is clean and simple, but is clearly not finished. We talked with Sam the sushi chef and he said they are going to be adding fun art etc. Also, karaoke and maybe DJ music is coming soon!!! BOTTOM LINE: If you are looking for some of the best sushi in SLO and don't want to pay "Goshi" prices, you won't be disappointed with Shin's.

My family and I loved their sushi. We also got half a dozen washington oysters, squeezing the lemon on those made them so refreshing. Everything is decently priced and the spot is cute.

Great spot for college kids if you're looking for deals. Everyday they feature a different roll discounted at special price. Tuesdays California rolls are $2.99! My party got seated right away and decided to order 6 rolls and try sake bombs. The sake bombs came with a 24 Oz beer and a bottle of sake, enough for a couple rounds of drinks. The staff was very attentive in bringing us extra napkins as sake bombs can get a bit messy. The owners even offered us another free round of drinks which was very sweet. The atmosphere was great as there were two other large parties who also invited us to drink with them! Safe to say we all walked out a bit more tipsy than we were expecting.

FUXS GIVEN = 4.7 ******************* Food = 5 I was shocked this place didn't have a higher rating. The fish quality was probably the best I've had in SLO county. The albacore was perfectly prepared. UX = 4 The vibes were OK. It was early in the afternoon. Place was mellow, Khruangbin playing on the stereo. The staff was casually cheersing the people at the bar. Service = 5 Perfect service. Prompt, friendly and correct.

I used to live in SLO and would eat at Shins on a regular basis. I've lived in LA for a couple years now and have yet to find a sushi restaurant here that is as good as Shins. I look forward to going there every time I'm back in town. The rolls are fresh, the staff is incredibly friendly, and the prices are amazing. I highly recommend going if you're craving delicious sushi with a welcoming atmosphere.

I was a lil hesitant based on the current reviews. But my daughter had been before & promised it was good . Glad I ignored the negative reviews , Shin's was fantastic! We enjoyed a great lunch , service was perfect . Their miso soup was some of the best I have had in years! I would come back for that alone . The combo sushi plate was super cute on its serving stump . Everything was fresh & enjoyable

Honestly been more and more disappointed every time I come. This used to be our regular sushi joint but after repeated bad/slow service despite us being 1 of only 3 tables of customers I can't justify the price of shins vs cheaper places. Sadly this is my last time here.

Excellent food. Superb service. This is our go to sushi restaurant for all kinds of special occasions. Also, great weekly deals on a variety of different rolls.
