Was in Richmond for first time in years. Decided to pick up food to take to family. Ordered a lot including 6 pieces of chicken for $7.75. Menu had no other description and no picture. See photo below of the 6 pieces: they just cut up 3 wings. Where's the integrity in that? Ordered other dishes that were good but will never go back. I feel cheated. I like to trust the people who prepare my food. And I work HARD for my money. Why give more of it to them after this? Sad thing is I dropped this off to a 60+ year old thinking it'd be a good meal. They sent me picture of their "meal". It's a snack!!
So far, Chris's kitchen so food gets five stars. The gravy smothered pork chop was delicious, and tender. The red beans and rice was cooked thoroughly, and seasoned it just enough. The collar greens were tender season also just enough. What I mean by just enough is, a person who doesn't like salt would think this meal is perfect. A person who we need a little more, like myself, just needs a couple of dabs of hot sauce and you're good to go. South Familiar? That's why I gets five stars, they're keeping the traditional way of cooking and seasoning. The young chef is doing great. I'll UPDATE- My wife and I went back. She had the smothered chicken plate. I have no your burger with a fried egg on top. Everything once again it was great. This time we had the mac & cheese.
Open during COVID-19 and called in my order for pickup! The vegetable egg white omelet hit the spot! I got the home style potatoes as well. Honestly, I haven't had a breakfast this good in so long! Everything was seasoned to perfection. Their toast taste like it was browned with butter in a skillet, not a toaster! I love supporting small businesses and will definitely be back soon!
po' boy sandwich...before i took a bite. this $14 sandwich had 5 shrimp in it. save your money. this sandwich isn't even worth the gas it took to get there. never again.
Aside from the confusion of Chris's New Orleans kitchen from doordash or Chris Soul food kitchen they are same... I like how the Texas French toast has a hint of banana. The food is always quality, comes out quick, and ordering is pretty easy... If you have not had this place before I recommend ordering off doordash or if you call for take out call a few times def worth the wait...
Amazing food!! Amazing workers. The owners of the restaurant are the sweetest most down to Earth people you will ever meet
I drive by this location every weekday for work. I finally decided to drop in and grab some breakfast. The service was great and the vibe in the restaurant was very low-key and welcoming. The breakfast was very pricy and under seasoned. I had to add a lot of sodium. There wasn’t much gravy at all, which I usually expect from biscuits and gravy. From my meal and my companion’s grand slam breakfast, it came out to be about $36. A bit too pricy for me to return, but I definitely hope restaurant gets more customers because I love supporting local businesses.
Absolutely a place worth trying, the food is good and fresh, the cost is fair and it is always well kept there. Keep up the good work.
Over Priced Poor Decor
I love this place because it reminds me of home my family is from Ruston Louisiana and they have good country breakfast and good country dinner and it just reminds me of back home food I really enjoy this place and the people are friendly and I know the owner personally the family is beautiful as well
Amazing mom and pop spot. Never fails to amaze. Nice, friendly customer service. Not over priced! Wished they were open later. Shrimp poboy is my go to!
Tastey good eats. Recommend the shrimp omelette when you want something different but familiar for breakfast. Good cajun flavor that's not overly seasoned or too salty like some other places that try to do southern food. Thumbs up on wings and pancakes as well. Will be back.
Been eating here for nearly 30 years. You can't go wrong
Awesome food and service...!!!
Black owned!! First time here, no wait, excellent service, was able to view food being prepared. Clean space, clean bathroom. Served quickly. Hot food. Grits prepared perfectly. Eating here is takes me back to Saturday mornings at my grandmothers house....just good food, no frills. Will definitely return for breakfast & dinner.
