I have been to Poet and Patriots Irish bar several times. They do not cook food there, but you can bring in food and eat it there. The wife and I like to go there after we have eaten at other food establishments. The ambiance is eclectic and the vibe is spiritual. I must say my favorite beer dinks are there and the wife drinks there wines . They have experiences there like the Wednesday night dart leagues, small tv's to watch whatever the bartender decides. I dig talking to whomever decides wants to hang out. It the only bar I have found that is really worth throwing darts and drinking a few beers. The have security there, which really allows everyone there to enjoy the day or night. Great to get ready for a Santa Cruz Warriors game. Happy hour last until 7 p.m. We are new to downtown, but Poet and Patriots is not a sleazy bar and a great place to meet and greet locals. I highly recommend making this place a go to scene. The Monday night Mics are where people in town want to be seen and heard.

I like the comfortable atmosphere. Darts has gotten pretty serious over time - one room is all darts. The other is tables and there's always the bar. Nice hangout.
