I once came to this cafe and loved my experience. I didn't fully understand the concept of a donations funded coffee shop. How do they make money? I assume people are thoughtful and pay what they can. But my dilemma was finding a place to get some work done while I was in the Santa Monica/ Promenade area. Great coffee from Golden State, huge artsy atmosphere, and best/most uniquely of all, it's a donation-based coffee shop. WHAT. YEAH. "Choose what you pay." So many pour over options, I had a Zanzibar peaberry that was perfect. Would be a great study/work spot! Ample metered street parking :)

Too bad this place is closed.Rating is for 6 months ago.Good service, good coffee, friendly staff, some pastries. Go by every 2 days but appears it will not reopen. Part of church that does work for the area. It was great for the community.
