Amazing food, comfortable casual atmosphere, low key, great service. This Texan loved their Beef Ribs. No knife needed. Meat falls off the bone.

The jerk chicken and ribs were delicious. They are actually cooking the meat outside on a grill! The plantains cooked to sweet perfection. A+

Great fast casual Sandwich shop near CA but far enough away from tourist areas. I had the Sunrise Sandwich which was a plate of breakfast stuck between two slices of great bread. Eggs, bacon, cheese, and hash browns.

A slice of the Caribbean in Santa Monica. This special little oasis is off the beaten path and lacks the crystal blue ocean vibes of Jamaica, but you will be pleasantly surprised at the wonderful family vibe and authentic tastes of paradise.

Incredible jerk chicken! This place is as awesome as it gets and the shack-like vibes of the restaurant will have you transplanted to the Caribbean. Jerk chicken has perfect spice and is incredibly tender. Ownership is friendly and accommodating. Definteily a spot worth checking out.

THE REAL DEAL - Jamaican food at its finest!!!! The Jerk chicken fire!!!! ZOE the owner is very welcoming and even open her doors to cook when she had just closed. I’ve found my favourite restaurant 🔥

Please update your Hours of Operation. We drove 1.5 hours specifically to eat here to find you closed at 3p. The star reflects the neglect (not food rating) and as a fair warning to others who may be planning to eat here.

Love this place. I came years ago and it closed shortly after, now it's open again and is as good as ever. The jerk seasoning is amazing and she had no problem giving me extra greens and veggies instead of rice. I can't wait to come back, love the casual decor and fun atmosphere.

I have to address some of the 1 and 2 star reviews here first thing. Zoe (the owner) is the heart and soul of this place. She works so hard to keep it going but over the past few years hasn't always been able to be as hands on.. life gets in the way. She's been closed intermittently and seemingly completely out of business for a long while there. I'm sure the food quality may have suffered in her absence. And yes sometimes not everything on the menu is available.. but shes had to go it alone more than a few times and has very high standards for where she sources a lot of her ingredients (hint.. Jamaica.). But things have turned around and shes back full-time in the kitchen. Maybe some of things on the menu won't be available from time to time but what IS available is some of the most soulfull and delicious food in LA county. The love she feels for her culture, cooking, and customers is evident in her spectacular food. You owe it yourself to give Port Royal a shot. Get the jerk chicken and a patty. If you ask for it hot then be ready because Zoe doesn't mess around. You can get a little tin of her homemade hot sauce on the side too if you ask nice. BUT even if you don't like spicy it's completely worth it. She cooks to order and can make it however you like. ProTip: go to the Co-Op down the street first and grab a 6er of Red Stripes... then leave the leftovers for the kitchen :) Enjoy!!!

Wowowow. Port Royal is back in a BIG way. The food here is so flavorful and unique. It tastes homemade (because it is), which I really value. I'm sick of food in restaurants being loaded with sugar or made on mass. Instead, this is made by Zoe, who owns the restaurant. She's a joy. The atmosphere is charming and colorful. Definitely recommend dining here.

Just found heaven right next door. When you know you just KNOW, and Zoe (the owner) KNOWS! Vibe is dope, and transports you out of your bads and into the goods. And I haven't even taken one bite of the curry chicken I ordered. I'm grateful to have this gem right next door.

This is not a restaurant. This is someones house and they will begrudgingly reheat some old food for you. Theres no menus, no prices, no receipts, none of that. The food is not fresh, and was the first time ive ever thrown away "jerk" chicken. Nasty. They apologized before giving me the food. Wasnt sure why till i ate it.

Just found out this place is right by my work, and now I'm so happy to have a new weekly lunch spot! The food is outrageously good, the owner Zoe is super nice, and the place is so cool looking it's just kinda fun being there. Also BYOB w/no or minimal corkage fees depending on what you bring and how many friends you bring w/you. They close at 3pm and open again for dinner at either 4pm or 5pm.

If you read the other reviews you'll see a recurring question... Is this place actually open? They seem to still be in business, but are open on an irregular basis. I'd guess maybe once or twice a week... I have no idea how they afford this business model. Pro-tip: look for the big smoker outside and if it's operating, you can be sure they're open. The food has been really inconsistent. The first time, I though the jerk chicken was great. The next time, my chicken special was overcooked and slathered in a lackluster sauce. Good luck!

ugh this place is so adorable. What attracted me first was the authentic look of the restaurant. I love the yellow and blue paintjob. As I walked in the interior was just as authentic and beautiful. Chef Zoe was so sweet and kind and made me feel at home. She suggested I try the curried goat and it was incredible. so delicious and fast. I will for sure be back to try other delicious meals. Thank you :)

yeyyy to homemade, authentic and properly seasoned food ! They just opened again recently and only had 2 dishes available. chicken or pork. The chef is a very friendly guy who served us food as if he is serving his family. we were a group of 8 people and it was a little surprising for him! we ate all the kitchen food! lol so he had to close his kitchen after us! you can take your own alcohol. I highly recommend the chicken dish.

After months of driving by this place wondering when it would reopen, the day finally came! We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for a couple patties and an a-la-cart rib to bring home. After getting home and taking one bite of the rib, we immediately called the place and ordered two full entrees. I kid you not, this place has the best ribs and patties I've ever had; and the kicker? It's on the west side, right down the street! For authentic and delicious West Indie food, you can't do better. Hopefully they stay open later for those Friday night stay in take out orders. We'll be back many times!

The food was perfectly cooked & the owners customer service was above, and beyond.
