This is not really located at Santa Monica Pier, but rather at a food court in a mall about a block away.We tried the Teriyaki beef and chicken with vegetables. Both had good portions - you won’t walk away hungry. As far as taste goes, we’ve been to other Japanese grills and this one ranks lower. While the sauce looks good, it tastes watered down. I was pleasantly surprised by the Sarku Japan restaurant today located at 395 Santa Monica Place at the food court on the third floor. I was going to the movies and decided to get a quick bite and ordered the California Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll which were both made to order for just $11.55 for 10 pieces!I have to say the rolls were as good as any sushi place I have eaten and better then WHOLE Foods or RALPH's!If your at the food court at Santa Monica Place, give SARKU a chance!Recommend!

This review is for pre-Covid. Our toddler doesn't eat chicken unless it is from here, since the teriyaki sauce is sweet. We usually get double chicken and chicken/shrimp lunch, which is enough for two adults and a toddler with leftovers. Usually reliable mall favorite.
