I came here for a tuna sandwich on my way to the beach. It was perfect! This is just a great little grocery store; support it! Having an independent grocery store is such a blessing these days!

Corned beef sandwich meat was too fatty and low quality. Probably commercial meat. Boar's Head.

Best sandwich deal in Santa Monica!

I rarely write poor reviews, especially of local businesses. Seems like this a common experience with the reviewer Aaron Basch below. The gentleman at the meat counter was pretty rude to me, unprovoked. I was just a nondescript mom holding a baby, trying to quietly buy some chicken-- no attitude. This employee was sarcastic and did not provide kind service. As a vegetarian, I was not familiar with identifying the cuts of poultry as white/dark meat and he was noticbly annoyed to have to explain it to me, and treated me as if I could not possibly be serious. I asked him to split a bone-in chicken breast that I paid for the whole breast, so I could portion it for my kids later without cutting myself at home. He refused to honor this simple request--- he is a butcher mind you at a meat market. He said ".... uh you just cut it. with a knife. you can do that at home." To make matters worse he said "thanksssss.." with a snarky fake smile after I politely said "ok thank you" and walked away after being declined of my request to quarter the meat. I gave him a rather neutral and bland customer interaction, no attitude. Not fun to be treated this way for a simple trip to the grocery store. In preparing the meat, I did end up having to saw my way through bone as predicted, and cut my finger. So mad! I get it, you have to deal with hoity-toity westsider SAHMs all day, does not mean we all deserve to be disrespected.

This neighborhood grocery store on Montana Ave in Santa Monica is a fine place for a freshly made sandwich or cooked items in their deli case. They've got a nice butcher section with fresh meat and seafood. There's a deli case with close to 20 items -- ribs, chicken, lasagna, mac 'n cheese, soup and more, depending on the day. They've got about a dozen salads, including three potato salads, and about as many deli meats for sandwiches. The beef stew was excellent, the lasagna, chili and meatloaf also very good. The sandwiches are solid and very reasonably priced. Two things stand out for me here: their weekend barbecue and the tamales. Someone in their kitchen makes delicious Oaxacan tamales (which are not always available). These tamales are chock full of chicken mole -- perhaps the highest ratio of filling to masa that I've had -- and are neatly wrapped in banana leaves. The burritos are similarly pre-made and stuffed to the gills with the protein of the day. As for the weekend barbecue, every Saturday and Sunday morning they grill select meats from the deli (prime steaks, tri tip, chicken, etc) which you can buy throughout the day at the deli. The Farms also has fresh vegetables, premade salads and all the other items you'd expect from a neighborhood grocery store. Service is super friendly, and there's free parking in back. It's definitely a good spot for a meal to go.

The Farms is a great spot. Great customer service and THE BEST SANDWICHES I'VE EVER HAD. I specially recommend the Roast Beef No-Brainer (with everything) on French bread. I'd argue it's the best sandwich in town.

It's a tiny neighborhood market. It's clean and filled with hardworking people. They make fresh & tasty sandwiches that my son often wants for lunch.

Home made burritos and enchiladas. Truly great because Farms is also a butcher. And great salsa.

This is a great corner market with fantastic barbecued steaks and other meats available on Sunday afternoons and some holidays. Also has great coffee. Sean has information on anything: food, wine, the stock market, politics, local news, international news, plumbing....

I wanted a breakfast burrito with no meat. They don't make one and get oddly disgruntled when you ask for one. After trying multiple times they said I could special order one a day in advance. So I went in and placed my order. When I showed up the next day to pick it up, I was told they forgot to make it. Very disappointing. Strange place.

Best neighborhood market! Sean and his staff are incredibly helpful, friendly and always go out of their way to make your experience great. The wine selection is outstanding for all price ranges. The meat/seafood department quality is restaurant quality and the deli is terrific (make sure to try their fresh French roll on a sandwich and go out of your way for homemade burritos on Thursdays and Fridays!) Pre- orders for meats and specialty desert pies for the holidays are a must!! And if you need to quickly stop for flowers or a hilarious card, they even have that covered. It’s amazing what they can fit inside this neighborhood location, it’s almost like magic…when I need something I can almost always find it there. Even a cup of your fresh brewed morning coffee! They are also super dog friendly and will step outside to bring your little pooch a dog treat. Santa Monica is so lucky to have a gem like The Farms.
