Best Mexican food in Simi Valley. Great little family operation. Their breakfast is probably the best thing they do. Best breakfast burrito, and huevos rancheros I’ve ever had. Their rice and beans are excellent. Love their burritos, shrimp tostadas, shrimp tacos, and tacos durados with el pastor. Hector and his wife always make you feel so welcome. Highly recommend and I’m a very tough critic. Have worked in restaurants for 16 years.
Such a great Mexican restaurant. The surface is so great. They are such wonderful people. The food is always delicious. I've probably eaten there about 18 times and it's never been bad. They're sauces. Great. They're fresh. Tortillas are great.

Ordered the carne asada burrito but didn't have any beans just rice and meat. Took one bite and opened up the burrito to further analyze the portions and was disappointed with the quantity for the prize. Owner didnt charge me for taking one bite and offered to add more beans but couldn't believe the lack of love that went into making that ? burrito wouldn't recommend eating here if u have a lunch break .

Good customer service from cooks to cashier, extremely friendly people. The hand made tortilla tacos are the best. Ask them about the spiciest salsa lol if you can't handle spicy spicy then don't even ask, its only for the winners.

Excellent and authentic tacos with great salsas. The roja with roasted tomatoes, the verde with small tomatillos. Small touches like the wall murals and decor add to the atmosphere.
Needed a quick lunch, had el pastor and asada tacos with a chicken quesadilla. I am really particular with my food, wasn't expecting much but lets just say i found my new go to taco spot when i come to the west coast.

I decided to stop by today at Taqueria El Maizal for lunch. I've always heard that Simi has no GOOD Mexican food place so I've taken it upon myself to check out what it has to offer. There was quite a few people already in having lunch, not too crowded. It was about 1pm, so I probably missed the lunch rush. I ordered three asada, and two al pastor tacos. The horchata was good. Not sure if there are refills for drinks. I didn't ask. I got a side of green sauce. I feel like it could've been a little hotter, but good nonetheless. Tacos were good. I would definitely come back and order something else. I judge a Mexican place by their beans. So maybe a burrito will be next for me. It's definitely worth a stop if you're craving Mexican food.

This is a great local taqueria in Simi Valley. I ate lunch here several years ago and loved it, but had not been back until earlier this year when the kids I work with wanted to come here for food. For a while, we were coming every week so that the kids could get food. One of my girls loves the shrimp cocktail and stated it is the best she has ever had. Some of the other items the kids ordered were tacos, enchiladas, and burritos. Everyone has loved their food. Everything I have tried has been delicious. My particular favorite is the shrimp tacos, and I really love their chips and variety of salsas. The service is great. Everyone is friendly. The owner is so nice and would deal with some of my most difficult work kids with a smile on his face. He is always so helpful. There is plenty of parking. You can dine-in or carry out, and I think some of the delivery services pick up here as well. Please give it a try. We are lacking good food in Simi Valley, and this is one place that I hope sticks around for years to come.
