CLOSED!!!! I am saddened to review that this local favorite seems permanently closed. The phone number was disconnected. I went by the location on November 8, 2022 and confirmed that my favorite steak sandwich shop sadly closed. It seems another local business has closed after so many years at this location. I wish the owners well and hope they reopen in the future.

This is the best Sandwich Shop in Simi Valley. It has been at the same location for 32 years, and is family owned. The bread is fresh baked, ingredients are premium and prices are very reasonable compared to the franchise places. Excellent service, super friendly staff and owner, extremely clean restaurant. This shop focuses on quality and repeat customers, over profits. The owner knows most customers by first name, and many have been coming here for decades. Unlike the other places, the portions have not become smaller. They have numerous hot and cold, as well as vegetarian options. Come try this place . You wont be disappointed.

I got the number 20 (no pickles, onions, and olive) large. It is pretty good I enjoyed it. Really good place. First time here and will probably come back again.

This place is so desolate and overpriced, i get it's a business that's run by a person but at this point what is sit for? The food is terrible the service is terrible it feels like the man running it doesn't even care?

I've had at least 6 different styles of subs from here over the last 10 years and have never ever had a bad experience from the food to the staff. 10/10Just wished they stayed open a bit later so I could grab one after work

This was our first visit here and it will not be our last. Delicious sandwiches, reasonably priced, and friendly service. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. The sandwich rolls seem like homemade. Don't bother going to any other sandwich shop. This is the best.

Hadn't been here in ages.... I think 20 years! I remembered how tasty the subs were and was visiting my brother at his new house which is why I was in the neighborhood. Popped in and ordered an Italian sub with everything. Sub was perfect. The mix of peperoncinis, pickles and other tasty things was delish. The cold cuts tasty and the bread was fresh and soft. Just as good as I remembered it back in the day. Next time I visit my little bro, I know where I wanna stop.

My boyfriend & I have been here many times in the last couple of weeks & everything is delicious. The meats, veggies, breads, etc are very good quality & fresh daily. The owner is friendly. Restaurant is clean. Highly recommend.

I was craving a hoagie style sandwich made with care and a lot of love. That's exactly what I found at the Subcontractor on Los Angeles Ave in Simi Valley. I ordered "The California" and I'm glad I did. I loved the individually wrapped sandwich in double waxed paper, the fresh baked bread, and the cleanliness of the restaurant. I felt like I was eating in one of the old school places where people really cared about every detail of your order. I appreciate that I could speak to the owner of the place, who was making sandwiches in the back. Honestly, the sandwich was as good as any sandwich my Mom ever made for me as a kid. Thumbs up!!

Oh boy! My husband and I LOVE the food here! Our favorite sandwich here is the Californian. It has a good amount of steak and veggies in it along with the cheese, it's so filling and so delicious that its hard to finish, even harder to stop! On those rare occasions where I can actually save a half to take home, it gets eaten up as soon as I can eat again. So good that I highly recommend that you give it a try if you are in Simi Valley. Also, we've always struck up some great conversations with the other customers here as well as with the owner. He's a very nice Russian man, usually he's the one who takes your order at the front. We asked, but no such luck with him opening up a Sub Contractor by where we live. Waamp waamp Wawa.
