We came for a work conference, stayed in the cottage and had a fine visit. Hotel is well furnished- bed has soft sheets, bathroom has a shower and large vanity, and small living space/workspace has a large TV screen and fridge. We didn't use the patio due to the rain but appreciated the opportunity (weather permitting) to sit outside. A pair of bicycles and helmets were available at the cottage but we chose not to use them. There are two overpriced restaurants- no surprise given the cost of the hotel -and you need a reservation for the wisdom and wit of you want a table. Overall, would not return for a personal vacation but more than acceptable for a work conference.

We were upgraded to a cottage room with my Marriott Marquis status. The cottage was located in the back of the property and was very quiet. It was autumn, so there was little activity around the pool. We were given a $60/day breakfast coupon for 2 people; gratuity and taxes not covered.Free parking was included in the report fee.See the room review below to understand the three star rating ? which I struggled to give because of the discomfort.Rooms: The rooms were spacious and clean with comfortable beds. The rooms were overfilled with furniture, leaving no space for luggage. We rearranged the furniture to make space. Water pressure in the shower was pathetic. All in all, the resort and rooms would have been satisfactory had it not been for the climate control system, which was entirely dysfunctional. The thermostat could not be adjusted to maintain a constant temperature. The heat and cool would continuously cycle. First, the heat would run the room temperature up to 78, and then the AC would kick on and cool the room to 68. Then the heat came on. This kept on even after the engineer came to "fix" the problem. The constant temperature changes dried the air and gave us bleeding sinus problems. The dysfunctional climate control made restful sleeping in the room impossible.Nearby activities: We did enjoy the using the free pass to Jack London Park which was included as a benefit of the "resort fee" even though the gate attendant was not happy we had borrowed the plaquard from a friend. She said they expected guests to pay for admission so they could maintain the park. The attendant at the Sonoma Botanical Garden was much happier to scan our room key for free admission. Both places are great for nature lovers and a good hike.Food & drinks: The breakfast menu is a neuvo Mexican style. Big portions, and we used up the $60 breakfast credit. The coffee in the lobby was usually empty or no cups. There was an additional "health fee" of around $5 added to the bill; presumably because the resort owners are too poor to pay for their employees' health benefits. We attended the wine tasting in the lobby... terrible cheap cooking wine. We drove by the winery offering a free tasting. The street appeal was bad, so we didn't sign up for that after the cheap wine in the lobby.

We had breakfast every morning at Benicia's Kitchen when we stayed at the Lodge at Sonoma to celebrate our anniversary. Food was very fresh and served hot. Irene is an asset to the Lodge. She made sure we were satisfied with everything. In the afternoon, we went to the bar where Sara and Dan made excellent drinks and took care of us. Both were very friendly and engaging. Kudos to the entire staff at Benicia's Kitchen. They made our stay a memorable event.

As many others have said, this hotel is nothing like the photos. If you’re looking for a luxury experience, look elsewhere. We recently visited for our honeymoon and there was absolutely nothing special about our visit. We were given a great view of…the parking lot. No attention to detail. Housekeeping didn’t show up unless we called. Restaurant on the property was expensive and underwhelming. Would not return.

I received my Resort Billing Statement and was surprised by a fee coded as “Resort Revenue”. I was told this is tax charged on the Resort Fee, although it’s the one line item not listed as tax? The front desk replied they would talk with their Accounting Department about coding the line item as a tax, but I suspect it’s just additional revenue for the hotel.Wow, the story gets better; hotel management has now re-issued my Resort Billing Statement recoding their fee, first named ‘Resort Revenue’ to ‘City Tax.’ I guess they are saying they are an utterly incapable group of managers who don’t understand the difference between revenue and expense. The comical part is that now I show two line items labeled as City Tax. First, there was an explanation that THEY were taxing their Resort Fee income, which is ludicrous, and now they have decided to re-label it as a City Tax.This Marriott acquisition needs a management audit!

Premium Marriott property in Sonoma, The Lodge at Sonoma Resort in Sonoma, California. It's part of autograph collection, one of its kind. It has Spanish architecture, it’s has lots of gardens and greenery around the property. Lodge has nice restaurant on the property and they do complimentary wine tasting on the weekends. Beautiful pool to cool down during hot summer days.

The service at this hotel is some of the worst service I have ever experienced. No one seems to care about their job or the well being of the people staying here. The room was also not fully cleaned when we checked in. I advise staying away from this hotel if at all possible, especially for families.

Our third visit to this hotel did not disappoint! We love this place and the staff was so friendly!! Irene the food and beverage manager was absolutely incredible!! She is a true asset to her staff and hotel!! Thanks to Hector for bringing her on board. We prefer the cottages, love the pool and beautiful gardens. The restaurants, Benicia’s and Witt and Wisdom were fantastic! Consistent food and service!! Some of the best in Sonoma. A beautiful and comfortable place to stay

I am not sure why this hotel is this expensive, nor rated this high. Upon arrival the hotel is certainly not what it is pictured to be online, especially for $700 a night. On top of that, their staff wasn't friendly and we had many things broken in our room. I was there for a wedding and spoke to the other guests who also each had issues of their own. Broken phones, leaking showers, no hooks to hang your towels. What a mess.

Overpriced and under serviced. For $800 plus a night I've stayed in much better accommodations at half the cost. And, in better locations. Came here for 3 relaxing nights. Been one problem after another. We were given a room facing the parking lot. If you dare come here, ask for an interior facing room. Felt like I was at an old Holiday Inn (apologies to HI). Room is like a basic low end Marriott for high end resort price. Not a nice neighborhood for resort expectations.Downtown Sonoma requires a complimentary shuttle they do provide. Bathroom is low end quality with only one sink. Not much room for 2 people. This morning housekeeping arrived at 8:35am. Let them know to come back later in the morning. It's now 6:15pm. After 2 calls to the front desk and 2 visits to the front desk someone is servicing our room. Be aware, water from the tap is well water that's highly mineralized. Came out milky. Made my wife sick. Front desk said someone would come look at it. Never heard back. Don't waste your time and money. Go somewhere that they care about you.

It’s almost midnight and the crowd downstairs is going on and on in their absolute loudest voices… I actually hear girl’s screaming and men yelling. I called the front desk and asked if they could use their indoor voices an hour ago. Nothing. I wish it was crickets, but it’s just a bunch of raucous carousing and apparently, it’s going to go on all freaking night. I wonder if they will like it if I go out there making that much noise at 6AM? Just a modicum of basic respect for everyone would go a long way right now!

No kleenex in the room. Even put empty kleenex box on top of wood box they put them in. They took the empty kleenex box and put the wooden box down under the sink. No matter how many days I put the empty wood box back up on the counter to be refilled with kleenex, housekeeping just continued to put it under the sink without any refills. (4 days) Benicias was Great for breakfast. Recommend the squash enchiladas. Best meal I had the whole time I was in Sonoma!!!!!!Room was so much smaller then we expected. They probably should dust the frame of the television in case anyone does adjust its angle as we did. Years deep of dust in there. Very gross. Should also vacuum under the furniture. Very light weight couch and chair. We moved them around a bit but found toothpicks, other trash, and years of dust under them as well. You will hear your neighbors like you are in the room with them, so not a good romantic get away situation. Would have been much happier at a clean affordable hotel where I felt like I had some privacy in my own room.

Very nice hotel overall. Two complaints: The gym is quite small. I had hoped to work out during my trip and had to alter my schedule several times to wait for a spot. It also gets very warm/space is poorly ventilated. For a hotel of this size/class, I expect a much larger/better equipped gym. I do not think it is larger than my hotel room.Second-very slow internet connection (Speed test reported 11mb/s download and 14mb upload). It is not possible to zoom or use Netflix. This needs to be corrected for anyone here for business.
