Love this place!
Great place to see some local history.
It's like going back in time and photos to go with it.
What a great place! So much history. it was like going back in a time machine! Thank you both Shirley and Greg for the wonderful memories- Sharing your stories- Greg your passion to keep Shirley's wishes alive!
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I share the passing of my grandma Shirley Paolini. Ma, aka Miss Shirley ran the bar in Birds Landing for over 20 years. Before that, she was the Postmaster of the Birds Landing Post Office for 30 years. Ma touched many lives. She had a huge heart, beautiful smile, trusted and found the good in everyone. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Condolences and tributes have been pouring in. We thank you. We appreciate this time to honor her and grieve as a family in peace. We have been made aware of a Facebook page that was created without Ma’s and the family’s permission. This page is in no way associated with, condoned or approved by the family. We choose to honor her memory with the dignity and respect she deserves. True family and friends know the real story and the truth. On behalf of my family and my Aunt Sharon, we respectfully will not argue or defend actions taken to protect and care for my grandmother.
Ask for Shirley. Great fount of Bird's Landing history. Friendly folks and lots of pictures to look at.
Awesome place with all the history of the area. Free nuts. The beer is cold and Shirley loves company a great ride through the countryside if you are visiting the railroad museum.
Shirley's is indeed open again. It's a bit out of the way, but it's well worth the drive. Shirley's Tavern has a lot of character -- and the main character is Shirley herself, who, at the age of 94, has a lot of fascinating stories to tell about life in this hidden corner of central California, where she's lived for about 70 of those 94 years. Lots of historical memorabilia on the walls, beer is cheap, peanuts are free, and they've got pop and chips and water for anyone not old enough for beer. I visited today, had a $4 bottle of Fat Tire, visited with Shirley for a while, and then bought a can of pop for a $1 for the road. She is happy to be open again after having to close for 22 months, and she hopes her regulars will find their way back again. Open Wed-Sun, 11am-5pm.
Perfect dive bar in the middle of no where.

When Shirley's Tavern is allowed to reopen , go say hi to Shirley and enjoy some peanuts and Beer , and don't forget to sign her guest book, she has a very interesting, almost like a museum on the long history of the area, she's great for sharing her stories with all and at 93, she's got stories!
