Decor is creative, sophisticated design sense but on a right budget. Service is rustic, the owner waited on us. Very wasn't but not a polished pro. Food was very good, I had a burrito and my wife had the tacos. Both were excellent. The beans were really tasty. They serve organic local honey with the tea, a nice touch.

The food was delicious. The service was efficient and fast. The environment was fantastic. Ideal place for a high quality meal with a soulful atmosphere all at a reasonable cost.

Wow! This place knocked my socks off. The blackened shrimp taco served with avocado salsa was amazing. It was served with beans and rice cooked in coconut milk. My friend was too busy to comment for a while as he delved into a burrito that left him speechless for a while. I can't wait to go back to try the corn on the cob appetizer. New owners have been serving thier delicious fare for approximately a month.

Having enjoyed the original EL NOPAL for more than 15 years in Vallejo, I was curious what might the new owners do for the location and their menu! Last week, I had a chance to stop by, speak with the family that runs it now, with a renovated look, improved bathroom and kitchen. They were all sounding very authentic and committed to regain the trust of the people and win back many loyal customers from 20+ years. Chips were good, healthy; Salsa good, but could use the authentic spicy taste (cilantro, jalapeno, etc.). Rice and Beans Bowl was somewhat smaller in quantify, but very flavorful -- Caribbean taste. For me, I asked for extra Tobasco, Jalapeno and Lime/Lemon slice for extra zing. Prices appeared a bit high for me. Overall, the people are very personable, like Alba & Jose Lopez of the original El Nopal. In time, I am confident people will respond and I am committed to helping them make it a great place again -- even introduce our mayor and wife, McConnell couple ...who were great fans of El Nopal. Thank you and best wishes for success!

It was good while it lasted, only Mexican spot on the downtown area but they've closed and it doesn't seem like they will be back

You could pass this by without a 2nd thought, but you would be sorry... Today was my first time trying this place on my lunch hour. I started of with Pico de Gallo and chips. The Pico is homemade and delicious. Then I had a absloutely humungo burrito and it was so fresh. The fresh, slightly charred tortilla snugly wrapping the made-on-site rice and beans with lettuce and avocado. I love a simple fresh meal and this was it. Total with tax just a tad of $7 with room for take home. What more could you ask for?

This place is my first choice restaurant. Of all restaurants I know I prefere it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to that place. Whenever I feel like having a special lunchon, this restaurant comes straightaway to my mind. good and food and a rich cuisine.well mannered crew, and agreeable ambience. In addition to that, the price is honest. I tell about this restaurant with pleasure.

Great little restaurant in the historic downtown part of Vallejo. The service is always excellent and the food delicious. No one rushes you here and it's a friendly place for lunch or an early dinner. Their chips, salsa fresca, and guacamole are the best in Vallejo (a city full of Mexican places). You will not be disappointed. Highly recommended.

This restaurant is a family place run by Jose and his wife from El Salvador. There is an abundant menu where you can choose and combine as you wish. All the food is excellent. The restaurant itself is large and comfortable. The service (from Jose) is friendly and welcoming. A lovely place to eat, drink and relax.
