40%, maybe 50% of the pizza was flavorless dough with little black mounds like a desolate volcanic landscape. The remaining was flavorful and even unique. Get your accountant out of the kitchen, make an honest pizza, and I'll happily be back.

Need to preface by saying I'm from NY and good pizza is everything to me. Living in LA for 7 years I've tried many pizza shops searching for a place that could compete with NY (not including places like prince st., Joe's or Roberta's which are from NY), and Gorilla Pies might just be that place. I had a couple of pies delivered and everything about this pizza blew me away. Can't wait to try every pie they have.

Alright, we’re in Valley Village, CA, at Gorilla Pies. Let’s see what they’ve got.

So, I ordered three pies: “The Kitten,” “The Rabbi,” and the “Big Kahuna.” Right off the bat, things are off to a rough start - pizzas were ready 30 minutes late. Not a great look, Gorilla Pies.

Now, let’s talk about these pies. “The Kitten” and “The Rabbi,” and the “Big Kahuna” - all came out super wet, soggy, and doughy. The cheese and toppings? Slid off each slice like they were running for their lives. Clunky, messy, difficult to eat. Not what you want from a pizza. Flavors were decent, I’ll give them that, but the Big Kahuna’s char siu pork was lacking - hard to find much of it - and all the pies were overly sauced.

Staff was super friendly, shouting out everyone’s first name with enthusiasm. Props for that, but it doesn’t save the pies.

Overall, pretty underwhelming. Gorilla Pies, you get a 6.2 out of 10. That’s a review.

If the mozzarella is not hand stretched and mama's homemade Pizza sauce that simmers for hours is not on the pizza and the handmade pizza dough is not cooked in a wood fired oven, this fake Italian place will never get my money. Get outta here!!!!!!!

I love this place. Best pizza in town. But management needs to cut these guys a break. They are totally understaffed, fielding way too many orders.

Pizza is great, but the wings are hands down, the best in the city.

Found this place by accident.
Best pizza I've had in my 20 years in LA. What a treat, and easy parking!

Gorilla Pies is hands down the best pizza in LA. I know, huge claim, but go there and see for yourself!Ben the owner, and head chef will wow you with his many pizza and sandwich creations which will wow your taste buds like no other! He's always glad to see us come in and welcomes us!You can't go wrong with anything your heart (or your stomach) desires here, but personally, me and my girlfriend love the Basic Benny pizza with angry sauce, and we usually add garlic and switch to smoked mozzarella. But Ben has always got some new creations that he'll be glad for you to try as well! We were recently treated with some new pizzas he made using a Vodka sauce base! You also can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches he has on the menu, and I can say that for sure because I've had them all. Probably the spicy Italian, and the meatball are my personal favorites. And don't forget to get a homemade cookie!Ben catered my 40th birthday party and he personally delivered the pizzas and stayed for a beer with us.You won't find a more talented, friendly, or hard-working man in the pizza business! Thank you Benny for all the food joy you've brought me!

Highly recommend the kitten signature pie. Simple but very delicious. My boyfriend really enjoyed the wings (lemon pepper and the dry & spicy were his favorite flavors). But what surprised me the most was their cookie!! Made with Lithuanian dark chocolate with sea salt mmm! Do NOT skip dessert.

Pizza dough is what sets good pizza apart from amazing pizza, IMO, and Gorilla Pies’ crust is nothing short of phenomenal! I spent five years in NY and thus feel like I can judge pizza with a decent amount of legitimacy and Gorilla Pies’ pizza is some of the best I’ve ever had. 5/5 stars all around (:

This is one of those unique places, with good food ALL AROUND, between the wings, pizzas, fries, SAUCES. It's all good, and the staff is very nice, helpful and attentive. Amazing and very special place, unlike anywhere else.

I finally made it there after a few months of thinking about it. I met some friends We had the daily special heirloom tomato. Pizza slice. We had the lemon pepper chicken wings. Yum. The Green Monster and the Margarita pizza. I think the heirloom tomato pizza was my favorite today, but they were all really good. And the chicken wings taste like fresh lemon. Next time I go, I am going to get some of that homemade lemonade and try the Mr. Pickles pizza.

After really enjoying our first dine in experience, we asked Gorilla Pies to cater a 40th birthday for us at a local brewery last night and the food was an absolute hit!Chef Ben and his team truly knocked it out of the park - they offered great suggestions on what types of food to offer and quantities based on the headcount.Quite a few people have reached out this morning to comment again on how amazing the food was!We can’t wait to return to the restaurant to try more of their specialty pies and sandwiches!
