I'm so glad places like Bastiens are still thriving in Denver. Easily the best cooked and best tasting steak I've had in Denver. I love the bread sticks and specialty butter they serve when you sit down. Prices were very reasonable and service was outstanding!

I had higher expectations for the food from here. I got the Wagyu Sirloin expecting it to be more marbled and tender. They cooked it to my liking, Medium rare, so that hit the mark. The food was underwhelming to me. The appetizers were just ok. The service was great. Our waitress was awesome with a sense of humor. One of the kid meals (noodles with tomato sauce) was rejected by one of the kids. She didn't like it at all. They took it off the bill fortunately. French onion tasted good just seemed more brothy than others I have had.

I came here with a dear friend who is a local here. Everyone knew her which made the atmosphere feel like a “Cheers” bar. One of the owners sat down at our table and gave us (mainly me) a scientific description of the different meat cuts and why they are named the way they are. She was so helpful! Only issue was I wanted everything on the menu she suggested.I got the coffee rub 10oz New York steak and it was heavenly! The avocado chimichurri was so creamy and rich I could have eaten that on everything I had or just by itself. The garlic mashed potatoes did not last long, and I am not a huge fan of mashed potatoes! They were full of flavor and delicious. The breadsticks given to us had an amazing garlic aioli which rich flavor as well. I also got the grilled ceased salad. This was alright nothing spectacular. I would try the soups next time.Now for desert. We shared the strawberry rhubarb pie with ice cream. This dish came out on a cast iron plate steaming. Taking the first bite I was in heaven! The flavor, the texture and the crust were all amazing! I have been craving it ever since I left it’s that good. I would definitely recommend getting this to share as it is a decent proportion.The service was excellent and personable. We got our drinks quick and never had to ask for water.I had my doubts about this restaurant mainly cause of its location. However, This restaurant is a hidden gem on Colfax. One I would definitely recommend anyone to go to.

Great steaks and food. Very old school kind of place. Couldn't decide between the sugar steak or regular steak, so we got both and shared. Both great and worth trying. Steaks meals include sides which I appreciate. Most steak houses upcharge so much for sides.

Super high value for quality of food, drinks, service, and atmosphere. Perfect medium rare on the 16 oz NY with the outside singed just right to bring out the best of the steak and the sugar rub. Best baked potato I've ever had folks and I've had a lot. Something they do special with a butter sour cream mix and of course chives. And there is only one of these places (not a chain).

One and done. The Maitre d was abrupt and rude. The food was good but not outstanding. Our waiter was nice but seemed to be very busy. I know this place is a Denver institution, but I don't feel that connection.
