Incredible tamales and the best breakfast burrito in the city. Everything here is top notch. The staff are always in a good mood, the owner is cool (and engaging) and, the prices are wonderful.A true gem and classic Denver staple.

I used to stop by there on my way in from my route when I drove buses for Mayflower some years ago and Layla was a little bit disappointed this time I wasn't too impressed with the tamale tasted it like it was old and although they were very nice but the service the expectation of the food wasn't like I had expected how it was so I wouldn't come back

I've been searching Denver for the perfect tamales of quality, taste, size, and price. I've been to over 25 different places, specifically for tamales, and after coming here, I never need go anywhere else for tamales. I would die for this place.

Best Tamales in Denver.Parking: Parking is downtown. Metered parking. May have to circle block a few times to find parking.

These tamales used to to be good, sad to see the price go up and the quality go down. The masa was crumbly. I got 4dz tamales ($100) and at least 6-7 of them were hollow in the middle. Almost like they just put juice with very little meat for the filling and it soaked into the masa leaving a void.

Why are the red tamales brown?!?!?. They taste like they look- Masa fell apart and one of the tamales didn't have anything in the middle. Comparably close to frozen ones you get from the freezer section at a grocery

I got to said this!!! The only reason why I came to tried them is because the Westword recommended them as some of the best Tamales in town. But let me tell you, I am from Mexico city and these tamales were horrible! I don't know what people are thinking when they give them 5 stars! Maybe because they never had real Tamales in their life! I can find better Tamales at the frozen section of the local Walmart. Their red Tamales don't even have meat in them and they are overpriced!!!! ABSOLUTELY DISAPOINTED!!!!....I would not recommend whatsoever!

One of the best in Denver? I decided to order 1 dozen red and 1 dozen green. Very disappointed! Masa was way to thick and red chili meat was mushy and not an appealing texture. Green chili was not as bad but still not even close to what I have had from other less known places. Maybe it is the factory mentality that ruins what should be a labor of love or maybe it's because I got them for Christmas Eve dinner. Definitely won't be back nor would I recommend.

Came back for the first time in years and picked up some tamales, chips, and salsa. There’s something abt Popular’s tamales that is unique. Almost like al dente noodles, they are super firm which gives a satisfying bite to sink in to. YUM! The chips are very sturdy, great for dipping and the salsa is refreshing with respectable spice. The only thing keeping this from a five-star review are the high prices, but I get that this area, just like many in Denver is getting pricier. The price of being Popular.

I love going to La Popular for their breakfast burritos! The staff are super friendly and the last time I went in they had a pumpkin filled pastry that was amazing! Great for on the run breakfast. I haven't had their other options, but I'd go back just to interact with the kind people.
