Went here on a date a million years ago and have been back at least a dozen times since. This place is the standard to which I hold other shabu places accountable. I have to say, they are like any other shabu place, but the staff is great and friendly. I never felt condescended when going there the first time, and anyone I bring that is new to shabu gets the same experience. Pricing is a little higher than some places I have been to, but they know their stuff and put out great product.
This restaurant is wonder! Food is amazing and the waitresses were AMAZING! Amber and Wendy are so friendly and very helpful I recommend asking for their tables when u go to this location. I will return to this location and only this location. Great work girls keep up the amazing service❤
So so good!! Very helpful servers, especially being new to this, and they gave us some great info. Food was delicious
Had lunch for the first time at Tabu a few days ago and it was awesome. A friend suggested that I try it and I had no idea what to expect. It was great, unique experience and the food was delicious! Will definitely visit again.
Delicious shabu shabu with a super helpful and friendly waitstaff. We went on a Friday night and it wasn't overly crowded. Definitely going back! OH! Make sure to check-in on google and get their housemade ice cream. Don't be alarmed... it's a vibrate purple color, but it's delicious!

Great sushi, interesting selection of Japanese fish. Reasonably priced. My new favorite sushi place.
Excellent fresh fish, good service!
I'm really blown away by this place. They put real crab in the rolls. It's just really good. The don't charge more than other places but the quality is higher.
Only been here once for lunch but was blown away. If this was located near a business center in Irvine or something it would be packed all the time.
Great service and the fish is very best. The hand rolls was different all came with real crab. A must for sushi lovers.

Their sushi tastes really fresh, but the rice was a little hard on one of our rolls.. some of the servers don't speak English well so there is a bit of miscommunication but just find someone else to help you in case they didn't quite hear you. I am okay with this because it makes me feel more like I am in a foreign country haha. It is very busy and lively in here. The 2x I have been here, I have been fully satisfied with just 2 rolls and a small appetizer. They tend to give free ice cream at the end which is a nice touch and perfect way to end my meal. I will be coming back :)
Great service. Seated our party of 8 with no problem. Generously sized sashimi pieces. Would come back again for lunch.
My go-to sushi place. Frequented over a dozen times now and quality is consistent. Has a cozy feel and friendly wait staff. Wait time of up to 50 minutes for large groups (7-8 people) due to how small the restaurant is; this is the only drawback to me. Considerably shorter wait if you're okay sitting at the sushi bar. Price is reasonable. You get a 5% discount if paying in cash. The food is delicious. I've never left Imari unsatisfied.
Chirashi bowl was rich and abundant. Many sushi dishes were fresh and rich. Tried a few rolls and they were nothing special, overly sweet sauce and fried toppings. I would stick with sushi / sashimi combination.
Oh the sushi here was incredible! I can't wait to go back. I had the seaweed salad, delicious. A deep fried roll, delicious. And tamago, YUM! They gave me free edamame and a small scoop of vanilla ice cream!! Nomnom nom

Sushi was super fresh and delicious, not to mention affordable. Got there around 6:30-7 found parking in the lot right away. Service was fast until around maybe 7:30-8 when every table filled up. But they certainly did their best to accommodate!! We will definitely be back.
The sushi was pretty good, but trying to get service was difficult at best! They seemed overwhelmed for a Thursday night. Only two waitresses, who would only help if you flagged them down. Orders were extremely slow to come out. They never checked on how things were. The interior is worn. Would be two stars, but like I said, the sushi was pretty good once we got it, so giving it three stars. We won't be back.
Really good food. Fresh fish. The refreshing roll is the best one!
The quality of the fish is higher than other local casual sushi places, their maki rolls offer a nice variety of flavors and some truly delicious combinations.
Tried placing an order over the phone and my son ended up getting the wrong order, he couldn't understand what was being said. He tried to explain the roll he wanted and usually gets when we order from there and didn't get what he ordered. Once home, my wife sat down to eat her dinner and found a 4-5in hair in her Heart attack roll. We used to love coming here but after this we will find a new place.

The atmosphere was very casual and the sushi itself was top notch. The only issue was the waitress, she didn't seem to really know what she was doing. When she sits you shes suppose to give you a sheet for ordering your off menu items like sushi plates but not only with me, but also the woman that sat next to me at the bar, we both did not get one. When I asked the chef what type of prices they had he said I should've been given it by the waitress. I felt a tiny bit embarrassed because the head chef had to come from behind the counter and go to the waitress stand by the front door to get both menus. I noticed him look around too for where the waitress even was when he got it for us. He was surprised that the waitress had come to give us our drinks, plates, and one of our menus but forgot to give both customers the order menu. The head chef was clearly busy doing his job and it felt very strange that he had to cover the waitress. Other than that one really odd moment the food, price, and location were all great.
I was not expecting the place to be good as was. The decor is a little old, but really what matters most is that it's clean and the sushi is great. Orders came out relatively quickly and we're delicious. It's now a place I'd consider when I'm in the area.
The food gets 4.5 Stars, the 2 waitresses get 0 Stars. Seriously, the attitude on the 2 waitresses there is unreal. We actually stopped going there because they are just such unhappy and rude girls. Funny that two of our neighbors told us the same thing last week. Their exact quote was "We love the food, but the waitresses there and just horrible people." Such a shame because the chefs are true pros and among the best... need to do something about that wait staff.
Food is great, don't expect great service though, even if you're ordering takeout. I keep ordering because the food is great despite the awful service and attitude from the wait staff. Multiple times I've ordered from this place and shown up at the time they ask me to, only for the food to be either late, missing items or both. They've never called me back to let me know they're out of something. They have, on occasion offered me a free appetizer to cover the mistake, but this is after an order that was 40 minutes late. Great food, it's the reason to show up, but expect less than sub par on the service side. Sit at the bar, you'll be fine.
I have been coming here since the day they opened! Food is always fresh and Jin is the BEST! During peak times expect to wait for a spot at the sushi bar...even on some weekdays...but well worth it. There is limited parking, but you can find a spot in the neighborhood and walk from there.
