Delicious house margaritas- not watered down! Excellent service!! We had the chips and salsa to start- and the hubby got tacos and rice/beans and I had a special request of o burrito bowl type entree- delivered expertly!! So fresh- so delicious and really cute decor. Not the best “area” of CT but so worth it and our server let us have a try of the traditional Mexican dessert- we LOVED it here!! Give it a try!

A Mexican restaurant with authentic Mexican food, opens early and you can get must of the popular dishes that Hispanic people love. I have try the pozole and a sope, it was pretty good and they have very spicy salsas. For drink I had a Michelada!

Got this on Uber Eats and literally RAN to review. Holy actually amazing. Solid chips and guac. The enchiladas were unreal. Rice and beans were phenomenal. Tacos were even better. And don’t get me started on the giant fruit juices. Must eat!

The best neighborhood Mexican restaurant in Hartford. We've been coming here regularly for almost 10 years and always find incredible food, gracious and warm service by familiar staff who recognize us, and a relaxed welcoming atmosphere. El Sarape is perfect in every way.

Authentic all the way. Great family restaurant, friendly service, all smiles. Thank you Fernando.I had a spicy pork soft taco and 2 homemade crunchy beef tacos. Airy, crunchy, tasty, and they didn't fall apart. I Highly recommend.

First time me and my boy wanted burritos. They had them. Pretty big burrito. Came with spicy red salsa and a limey green one. $13.90 should have came with a little nacho chip tortilla. 7-8/10

El Sarape has been a long time staple of mine since moving to Hartford five years ago. It's an unassuming Mexican Restaurant in Frog Hollow, and I'm glad that I stumbled upon it early on. On my first visit, my friend and I ordered Al pastor and carne asada tacos. My friend happens to be from San Diego, and has impeccably high standards for tacos. We were both very impressed with the tacos. The meat was well portioned, the tortillas were warm, and the salsas were refreshing with a little kick. The pastor was my favorite because the meat was juicy and seasoned throughly. A more recent favorite meat from there is the barbacoa, which I can only have "a couple bites" of (read: a taco or two) because the fatty beef is so rich. But the flavor and texture is amazing, so this is must try. I typically love tortas and have ordered the Al pastor torta many times from El Sarape. In recent months I think the bread they use has changed, but I miss the old bread because the one used now is quite thick and a little dry. Hopefully they go back to using the thinner crispier bread soon because I really enjoyed their tortas! Lastly, I have to mention the beverages because they are deliciously refreshing. My favorites are the horchata (creamy and cinnamon-y) and the Jamaica (sweet, fruity, hibiscus).

Huge portions, bottomless tortilla chips and salsa (which don't fill up on! it's easy to!). We got carne asada burrito and tacos. All very good. A little salty but still really good. Super casual space, really good service. The best in Hartford (imho).

Visited yesterday for menudo. We also ordered a side of guacamole and a couple of beers (Victoria). The menudo was excellent. Although not common, I enjoy my menudo with hominy but that wasn't available. Other than that, service and the food were top notch. Will be returning!
